The beach area was not very useable. also the bech area could have been a little cleaner
Property was clean and all around a great place to stay for relaxation. Beach was just ok but rocky right in front of resort. Always a beach chair available. Food was ok for all-inclusive. Mostly had to drink beer account use cheap alcohol for drinks. Another $30 a day for premium drinks. Small glasses so bring a mug. Location is about a mile from town but easily walkable.
All staff was very nice. Mrs. Adina in the dining area, Jairo, Bryan, Monica in the entertainment section, were always committed that we have the best experience in the resort. The lifeguard was fantastic in keeping the beach safe. Overall a great experience. On the other hand, please improve the quality of the alcoholic drinks.
Great beach great location to town
Staff was friendly. The property is somewhat dated in some areas. It appears some updates have been done. Wireless internet is not great unless you are near the lobby. Main buffet is ok, though some repeat items. Asian and Italian restaurants a step above the buffet area. Multiple level and conditions of rooms. Beware of moldy conditions and leaks in room. We reported it and were moved to a much more updated room. It did take 4 hours. At least 3 other guests with same issue. Pool snack area had very poor quality food. The pool was a big attraction and quite popular. The beach was a great place to walk and enjoy the sunsets. Not as popular to go swimming. Great location to visit intown Tamarindo(long walk or short taxi ride). Did enjoy some live music during my stay. Get off the resort and checknout the local area. Overall, the resort is ok for the area. Would probably not go back. I would go back to Costa Rica. It's a beautiful country. Not up to par versus other all-inclusive resorts.
Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. The mattress had mold and it made me sick
The Occidental Tamarindo is a beautiful property. It is very clean and well cared for. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The pool is to die for. It is clean and not crowded even with a good deal of people in it. The beach is nice. The entire place is very peaceful and a great getaway. The food while not great, is not horrible. Some of the dishes could use more seasoning.. I highly recommend this resort.

Great Place to stay for the price range. Different beach options from waves to shallow pools.
2nd time staying at this property. First time was 12 years ago when it was Barcello. The Tamarindo area has changed into a tourist area. Food was not as good and varied as first visit but Covid May have affected that.

I wish I took the negative reviews seriously. I did not get the room a paid for. It was dated and dirty. When I first got to my room I told them it wasn’t correct. They moved me to the same style room. I was so disappointed I let it go. The food is HORRIBLE! The drinks are HORRIBLE. I’ve stayed at all inclusive a before and this was such a disappointment. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.
For the amount charged property should be better maintained. rooms were cleaned every day, but mold in certain areas in the bathroom never disappered. Intertainment-below avarage. Only food was good and friendly personnel.
It was clean. Close to the beach. Food was good. Only issue is the road leading to the hotel is not paved. Difficult to drive.
Being so close to the ocean and having direct access to the beach was awesome and the food was delicious.
