Loved the hotel! The hotel is beautiful and clean and the view of the beach is gorgeous!

The staff go above and beyond to make sure all your needs are met. If you are looking for wellness and relaxation this is your place. I will defiantly be staying at El Mangroove again. Thank you to to all that made our stay great we appriciate you!

Extremely friendly and attentive restaurant and bar staff. Well-maintained rooms with a beach flair. There are screened-in porches with couches and hammocks for many rooms, with large, well-air conditioned bedrooms. Room service and bars/restaurants currently close at 9pm. Poolside wait service closes at 6pm! That is a poor management decision for a resort offering few options for evening entertainment, in a somewhat remote area (20 minutes fromLiberia Airport, but certainly far enough away to not know it). Location of the resort is not central to rain forest attractions. Its 88 rooms had a 60 percent or so occupancy this week, giving us the feeling we had the resort to ourselves and a few friends. The beach is grey or black sand, which I assume is volcanic. It is certainly clean and well-maintained. The surf is minimal. The beach is protected by outlying land masses. Several boats are anchored it in this natural harbor environment. We felt completely safe here and in all of Costa Rica. Tour guide ads leading tourists to feel the need for “security” are misleading. Rent a car and use Google Maps. However, if you desire a tour guide, we recommend Gabriel, a private tour vendor. He is exceptional. Pre-flight COVID tests are $50 at labs near the airport, and results are accepted by the U.S. airlines and are emailed to you in an hour. Booking tests and tours through your resorts sometimes doubles prices. Ike and Kelli, Holden, LA, U.S.

Amazing property and hospitality. Private beach access and nice pool. Standard rooms are small, but the separate sitting area is great when guests are sleeping. A/C is strong. Would love to return again.

This place was like a fairytale. So beautiful, pleasant, the food was AMAZING, the employees were are so helpful and caring. I was recovering from surgery and I felt like they all went above and beyond to assist me while my husband and daughter enjoyed their excursions. I can’t wait to come back when I’m healed and actually take advantage of more that they have to offer. The location is perfect not to far from airport and right on the beach w

Boutique hotel had group events which ruined a private culture

Hotel and property are excellent, but restaurants not so much. Some food was good, but much of it was bland. Servers frequently got orders wrong; bringing a guest two sides but no entree, etc.

I had an amazing stay here. The staff is accommodating and very nice. The bark room was big...monkeys do wake you up at 5:00am! The sunset tour offered at the hotel is awesome. If you want to relax and have good food...this is the place. I would suggest maybe having a live band, at least on weekends. The resort’s beach is more for doing water sports, so if you want beach ...this is not the place! I will definitely come back here.

Great place, great amenities, great location and great staff.

Amazing customer service, true boutique experience, design is beautiful & lends to true relaxation. Cannot say more positive about us staff, they were amazingly helpful, professional, friendly, and attentive. Wonderful experience!!!

The Hotel itself was OK. The place felt a little rushed to be built, and had some questionable design choices. For example, in the corner rooms (which are supposed to be the nicer rooms) there is a door that leads from the shower to the outside via a frosted glass door (there is also one inside so, no, you don't need to go outside to access it) but that door does not fully fill the frame. This means there is a lot of open space around the door. You are near the woods- so lots of bugs come in. The first room we stayed in had a huge ant problem. We called the front desk about this and the staff was more than helpful. They really were great. They helped us move rooms, and even gave us a deal on upgrading to a bigger room due to our discomfort. This room was very nice, but again, the craftsmanship of the place comes into question. There were cracks in the caulk/sealant around the dining room sink. The hotel provided us with a nice fruit bowl that, after coming back to our room one night, was covered in ants entering through these cracks. Yes I know we are in the forest/beach- and I am not afraid of bugs or anything and I know where I am, but it seems simple upkeep could have prevented this. And the rooms are not inexpensive. Again, the staff was great, Eddy was great (he will try to sell you on a Sunset Cruise which you should absolutely take), the beach felt like velvet. The Hotel itself could have just been a little better.

From the moment you arrive and are greeted with a refreshing drink to the moment you leave you will experience a very high level of service and plenty of smiles. There isn't one bad thing I could comment on here. Highly recommend!

I was initially very impressed with the hotel. It was breath taking and the staff was kind. However, I felt the office manager was not very pleasant to work with while everyone else on the staff was helpful and kind. I would recommend the hotel for adults. It is quite relaxing and most services are at your finger tips.
