The room definitely needs to be updated, 2 out of 4 outlets didn’t work. Hotel was clean, staff were friendly. Food was delicious. Many options to choose from.

Overall would recommend we enjoyed our stay! Room was a bit old but was spacious and clean. Pools were beautiful, service out there was excellent, Particularly Christopher! However not sure why it cost more to stay at palace vs riu. Very disappointed with the beach setup at riu palace. They kept stacks of old falling part lounge chairs under a bunch of trees. Id have to drag one out myself. Narrow beach area. On last day i walked down beach to see riu & was shocked to discover rows of new beach chairs. The pool design also didn't make sense. The only adults only swim up pool was the tiniest one! So everyone is crammed in there occupying same tables and seats all day long while the little kids had these big enormous pools to throw balls around and scream. I was disappointed this hotel is not adults only like the palace in punta cana. Another frustrating issue we ran into is they said no reservations at restaurants , 1st come 1st serve, HOWEVER that was a lie at the steak house. They pick and choose who they wanted to give a paper slip to to reserve a table. It took us 2 nights of trying to eat there and after talking to a few other people learned about these paper reservations that no one offered us. I would say the extra money to stay at palace is not worth it.

Hotel is old.! Charged a fortune but is in dire need of repair. Walls were dirty, decor outdated. Furniture in need of repair. Poor service. Most staff had chip on their shoulder and could care less if they served you. Room service options very poor. Worst Riu ever!!!

The room was discussing. Very outdated. There was an ear ring (lip ring) on the bathroom floor and was never cleaned up while we were staying there. Just very poor quality of work in the room. Felt like I was in a dorm room back in college. No restrooms by the pool. And getting lunch during the day at the buffet they need to have paper plates so people can take food to the pool. I saw a lot of people walking out with the plates but I talked to quite a few people and myself got stopped.

Rooms are very basic. Food in restaurants was generally served cold Sweeping floors while people are eating was distracting & unnecessary in restaurants. Staff were pleasant and accommodating.

Card to get in the rooms stopped working daily Bathroom sink drain was stuck in the closed position so it would not drain without manually removing. No bathrooms near pools. Lack of the ability to do reservations at restaurants. Staff was wonderful.

Clean rooms, beautiful grounds, great dining options and bar service! The only thing that made this stay on the annoying side (and was quite a common thing to see/discuss with others experiencing the same) was the key cards they use are very old and don't hold their charge, meaning coming back to your room with your arms full from shopping, tired or needing to use the restroom is your key would not work and you would have to go back to the front desk. At the desk however, they would tell you that your key got too hot, was close to your phone, etc., every single time, regardless that it never happened. Make them give you a new key (like other guests told us that they had to) and problem was solved! Just hate that it took so long and so many trips to the desk to get fixed. Other than that, was amazing!

The outside of the resort is nice. The rooms are a bit dated. I know they will be upgrading them soon but we walked over to The Riu next door which was less in price and the venue was very nice. Also the buffet at the next door venue is so much better. Riu Palace needs to upgrade their food. Also 3 different times we caught them using different alcohol and even water in their bottles. We saw another patron drink tequila and complained it was pure water. The bartender was so embarrassed and immediately fixed the situation. It’s honestly a nice property but needs upgrades.

Property is very beautiful and clean but rooms are old and really needs remodeling which they are going to do as they said, food excellent and very relaxing we enjoy very much.

Staff was wonderful although we had to suffer much angst in dealing with the front desk. Our arrangements were made through Expedia… big mistake. Resort was very nice, food very good.

This please was incredible!!! The food, the staff, the property, the entertainment was all top notch. We never did any of the restaurants because we had kids and didn’t want to wait in line so can say that the buffet has amazing food and soooo many options to choose from. There was always chairs to sit around the pool. The staff who do the entertainment were super fun and engaging. The wait staff especially Christopher were amazing at drinking you drinks either on the beach or around the pool!!! The rooms were made up everyday and stocked the mini fridge. Everyone was so friendly and helpful this was probably the nicest resort we have been to. 5 plus stars!!! Would go back tomorrow if I could
