The place is super well kept. The staff is amazing always friendly. Food was perfect. The rooms did have a distinct sewer type smell I did change rooms and the second room was not as bad but still was there it comes from the toilet I’m sure. The roads to get there are awful get ready for that drive. Everything is far rent a car.

Staff here are very pleasant and accommodating. There are dogs around… very friendly. I loved that there are a lot of pools so chairs are not too much of a problem. It was windy while we were there so leaves in pool but not bad. The staff are constantly cleaning. That being said, there is a septic odor in bathroom but we got used to it. The rooms are nicely kept. The buffets have a lot to choose from and the food is fabulous. The road to the resort needs a lot of attention. A walk down the beach finds you visiting wild monkeys that will take grapes out of your hand & a bar called Monkey Bar.

RIU Palace Costa Rica. Slightly Disappointing !

Food in the Buffet was BORING and UN-INSPIRED ! Visitors would welcome cuisine and food preparations of Costa Rican culture, along with the North American & European fare that was the ONLY cuisine offered ! There was blackness on the grout lines of the shower stall tiles! There was blackness on the grout lines of the corridor floor tiles! Mopping alone will not cure this problem of dirty grout lines ! Water in the jacuzzi in the Renova Spa was b-a-r-e-l-y warm ! A great disappointment !! The grounds are beautiful; the pools are inviting. GENERALLY SPEAKING, THE STAFF IS WONDERFUL: FRIENDLY & HOSPITABLE !! The best part of RIU Palace Costa Rica

The property was nice and the dining options were great. The pool always activities and the music and shows were good for the price. However, there were no reservations allowed so one night we were on line for a steakhouse and a party of 50 went in and they shut the restaurant down. We had to go eat the Buffett. The rooms were a little old and the bed was uncomfortable for me. I’m 6ft and 225lbs. The food was mediocre even at the quality restaurants and even though it’s all inclusive if you don’t tip the bartenders you get poor drinks and poor service.

Staff was for the most part very friendly and accommodating. Pool area was large and clean with staff making sure your needs were met. The food was hit and miss with quality and drinks were weak. The rooms need to be updated as the tv’s in the rooms are small and from 10 years ago. You are lucky if they work and if they do the reception is hit and miss. With Americans traveling during the bowl season and NFL playoffs you would expect some sort of sports bar with large tv’s but not the case here. Our room smelled musty, friends room was missing a shower door and neighbors sink was missing the pipe under the sink for draining water to the sewage. Really! Wife waited an hour for towels after calling house keeping twice and finally had to go to the main lobby to request towels but they had temporarily run out of them. It seems this is a management problem, not worker issues. So much of this is correctable with investment from the corporation. Costa Rica itself was amazing and beautiful as well as welcoming. The road to the resort is like it went through a war zone and we saw no indication that it was going to be fixed in the near future.

Highly recommend this place especially for anyone who is celiac and especially for kids who are celiac. Staff were super friendly & helpful, excellent food, lots of activities on the go, fun water slides only a 5 min walk from the resort. My daughter is 9 and is celiac. When checking in I told them about her "gluten allergy", they immediately gave us a paper where any allergies are documented and our room number and told us to take it to any restaurant we ate at. She's super picky with food, we can't say enough good things about David & Monica, they're staff managers & dressed in black. They asked her what she wanted and would go and talk to the chef or the chef would come out. She had chicken nuggets, fries, pancakes, hashbrowns, sushi (loves avocado/cucumber rolls), bacon, chips & guac...lots of fruit, veggies, salads & various deserts. They could have made her more food like chicken, fish dishes etc. but she's picky. When I asked them if they had muffins, they brought out sealed little lemon muffins (so yummy!) & little sealed packages of mini gf bread. She was so happy to have food she could eat! It takes a little longer obviously so give yourself some extra time to wait for the food. They also told us if she didn't like anything at the other restaurants that she could have food from the buffet and bring it over to the other places we wanted to eat at. We did the zipline, animal sanctuary & snorkeling tour (Planet Dolphin tours) We love this resort & will be back!

I was recently at Riu Palace for 7 days and here is my experience: I don’t write many reviews but felt it would help visitors. The location is great and food was great. The room was very outdated and facility is in rough shape. I can understand it needs updating but I would say the rooms were not considered luxury and spa was outdated many things weren’t functioning. The staff was great but I would say the room smelled and felt like a motel not resort vibes at all. I would consider a different option as it almost ruined our vacation.

Great staff and service, beautiful grounds and landscaping, the pools are awesome, the beach is awesome, the food was average but good. The only negative was the room. Totally outdated, our room was way too small for 2 adults and 2 teenage boys, boys could not fit in the pull-out bed together and There was a bathtub in the middle of the room with no encloser. The property was very nice, the staff was excellent very nice and friendly. Walks on the beach the locals were very nice as well. The only issue is the keys to my room never worked. I had to visit the front desk every time we left our room which made it very annoying.

USD Credits was unclear

Although most Riu hotel chains are generally good and offer decent services, unfortunately, on the first and second days, due to overcrowding, we did not experience any proper service or good food. However, on the last day, the service and food slightly improved. My main issue, however, was that the hotel reservation included a dollars credit, which initially made us very happy. But due to their tricks and unreasonable explanations, despite our persistent follow-ups, we were unable to use it. We left the hotel with a very bad memory, and the money we paid, along with the unused credit, was not worth it.

We had a wonderful stay. The staff were polite and very friendly. Great service. I would definitely recommend staying here for an easy beautiful vacation.
