During our stay we had a DND sign on our door and still someone entered and stole $250 from us on 2 separate occasions. The music at 9pm below us was so loud, we had long days from excursions and couldn’t sleep. Not all dining was open because they were closing the hotel for renovations. Also so dirty, beach was horrible. Food horrific. Front desk did nothing about our cash being stolen.

We were very excited about this resort, unfortunately since day one we had problems. Day 1 Room 5118 lock door doesn’t work and the maintenance guy said we have to play with to open the door, we are too old to do this. Also the Bar in the room were empty. They switch room to room 5121 look like they don’t check, coming in and water on the floor call front desk again maintenance come and with the same towel that clean the floor…clean the refrigerator was disgusting for me, empty bar as well and no coffee for breakfast, they replenish after complain. Maintenance Mr Esteban no polite person. Day 2 after we come from the pool blue water all over the place call front desk maintenance come and said was because we take a shower… with blue water from toilet? He spoke in Spanish but my husband understands what he said and was very des appointment with the way that he talk, he didn’t fix anything. We clean the floor with towels. Day 3 water from toilet again we took photos go to front desk and spoke with Mr Angel we explained our frustration coming for vacation and was a disaster look like nobody cares, he promised to change rooms but we were happy there because we come with friends, he sent to Mr Miguel very professional and willing to help he change one broken part from the toilet and problem resolved, took only 30 minutes to fixed, obviously the other maintenance Mr Estevan didn’t want to help.

Im very disappointed with Rui Guanacaste, costa rica. The place is in overall 3, rooms need updated as an emergency, the bathrooms are dirty and stinks like sewer, in Our first day mini bar was completed empty, we called the front desk and their answer was... you allready finished everything, really! The second day the cleaning crew was taken the beers or the mini bar... unbelievable. The elevator was broken every other day and one of this days we were inside OMG it was scary i went to the Front desk to let them know and all what they have to said is oh well that happens.... really! Ok now, food in general is good except for furama asian restaurant .... not worthy at all. Restauran services was ok with a couple servers with outstanding and super nice service that mades our stay comfortable "Aida" from liberia restaurant really mades a diferent she is a 💯 value for Rui hotel The grounds are pretty, the pool area was gorgeous along with the entertainment team WOW!!they are good 👍 Beach area not good at all

Eating anything but the main buffet is kind of a pain unless you want to stand in line at 530pm everyday. Food not labeled properly for dietary restrictions. No understanding of vegan restrictions. Only wine and beer with all meals, no cocktails in restaurants or buffet. The road to the resort is long and in terrible condition. If you leave the resort you will get stuck in major traffic…like hours waiting. The hotel app didn’t even have our entire section of the hotel on it, no map available. Hotel was reasonably priced, clean and the rooms were large.

The staff is amazing. Everyone was so friendly and eager to assist with anytbing we needed. We did not have any trouble gettimg seated at any of the restaurants and we tried out everyone of them. All were great. The different night events were very fun and the beach was so nice, never crowded and we were always able to get lounge chairs for our whole group. We will definitely be returning to the RIU Guanacosta

I would never ever recommend this hotel to anyone! Not only did I pay my booking in full with Expedia on the second day the hotel locked us out of the room with all our medications and belongings they also demanded we pay extra money( a lot) After telling them no I don’t have anymore money to give them they said I can give you a discount (half of what they offered which was a lot) . We had a horrible experience. Then the old people on our floor had all their traveling funds stolen from them and the hotel offered them a tee shirt and said sorry can’t help you. They are deplorable. Do not take your family here!

Had to ask to have room re-stocked with water in mini-fridge. Only re-filled once during our entire 7 night stay. Need more bathrooms- none in the dining areas, only in main lobby and pool area. Air conditioning throughout resort went in and out throughout our stay.

Liked the good food, good pools, grounds were great, and people working there were great. The building is grand and built with great beauty but the place has seen a lot of use - the fixtures in the bathroom sinks are warn and tarnished, the door to the room was in need of being stripped and re-varnished. Still the place looks beautiful - but it does not look new. The place was clean and welcoming.

The location right on the beach is fantastic and the pool grounds are beautiful. The rooms are good for what they are but the bathrooms could use a little upgrading. Overall a good value all inclusive.

First of al the property still uses keys. Me and boyfriend went to done and left our towels on the chairs. So we went to the towel boy, who wouldn’t give us 2 towels . We went to the front desk and they told us, they won’t charge me this time but if this again I will be charged 25.00..the rooms look old and outdated, no room service, one water bottle per room. Not person but per room. All dinning rooms close by 2300. So if you want a snack you’re limited to nachos in the 24hr sports bar. Just the worse Rui I stayed at…never again.

RIU Guanacaste was absolutely amazing for our stay! The entire staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and restocked daily upon request. The food options we delicious. We were blown away by the buffet options. The sushi at Furama was our favorite. The only thing I didn’t like were all of the vendors trying to sell you things on the beach. They were very disruptive and made it hard to relax.

Good place to stay , just need to upgrade there rooms a bit more and change type of food they have everyday. Besides that everything went well my family had a good time. And they have a lot Great shows for family and kids at night and activities during the day.

I stayed for 5 days & 4 nights and the air condition didn’t work until the last day. I booked with a group of 16 people, and because their staff made a mistake in their own system they locked out my mother and my three year-old niece and told Expedia that they weren’t gonna let them in until they get more money. Absolutely atrocious ! I can promise that I will never stay here again.
