Quality Inn2.5 out of 5.0

I recently stayed here a couple of nights. Clean, comfortable, reasonably priced. I was pleasantly surprised. Wi-Fi worked well. Breakfast room uncrowded and tidy with appropriate choices. I'll come back again.
Well, nothing terrible happened, and it was inexpensive, so it wasn't a disaster or anything. But the whole place looked rough. Looked like they don't vacuum much. There was mildew in the shower. The key cards didn't work in the outside doors at least half the time. The breakfast was lame. But the bed was reasonably comfortable, and aside from the expected traffic noise, it wasn't horribly loud.
The hotel was a little old and outdated. Our room was nice and clean but our cable didn't work, our phone in our room didn't work to call the front desk, our key card didn't work in a side door, and the main elevator was out of order.
I stayed at this property on 9/3/2017 and the stay was horrible. I am an employee for the quality inn and the comfort inn and this is just unacceptable. first I check in the hotel and the elevator doesn’t work. then I take the stairs up to my room and get there it was dead bugs on my window ledge and it was hair all in my bed .. I went and ask the front desk agent (Sam) can he change my room and he did. then I get to my second room and was about to get in the shower and its hair all in the shower and all over the bath room floor I mean that’s just nasty. I then went down to the front desk and told the agent (Sam) and all they did was send someone up there to clean it and they did a half job and cleaning it up. then I called down stairs this morning and asked for a later checkout and the front desk agent (Sam) gone tell me i am getting a late checkout its 12pm sharp.... when regular checkout time is noon anyway ... so I am very upset with the property and i will never stay at that property again ....
As with all my reviews I shall start out with a pro and con list. Pro: 1. The staff was amazing. They knew all the information about the family gathering we were having, without even having to check the computer! They were fast to fill any request, always greeted us warmly, and were extremely helpful with reccomendations for things to do in the area. There was a commotion with a group of rowdy young adults, but it was professionally handled, and there was very little impact on anyone other than those in the lobby at the time. There were sincere apologies by staff to those who witnessed it. 2. There is a stunning patio area for people to sit and smoke. Nicely landscaped grounds made it a very pleasent place to sit and chat with people. 3. The rooms were quiet. I never heard my neighbors. Given they had small children, I was expecting to hear something...but there was no sound from other rooms at all. 4. With our windows shut, we had no road noise at all from the nearby busy highway. When we opened our windows the noise was very minimal. 5. The hotel was very clean. The sitting areas were well maintained and stocked with items you may need. 6. There was ice water and coffee provided 24/7. The coffee never tasted burnt or old. 7. The vending machine in the lobby was stocked with a wide variety of beverages. 8. The room was smaller, but was pleasent. I didn't feel cramped at all. The bed had a new serta mattress, soft sheets, and a "mock" down pillow that I swore was down until I checked (my partner has an allergy). The temperature was comfy. 9. The room had an iron, ironing board, television with cable, free WiFi, room darkening curtains, luggage rack, a HUGE closet, plush chair, a desk with desk chair, alarm clock, a phone, and lights that had 2 outlets each in them. There was a "kitchenette" area with a good sized mini fridge, mini coffee pot with supplies, and a microwave. 10. The bathroom was well lit and clean. Toiletries are standard. Towels were standard, but nicely folded (the shaped washcloths were a nice touch). The shower was FANTASTIC! Water pressure was great, never lost hot water, and it had an adjustable showerhead with multiple settings. 11. The free breakfast was nice. Standard continental breakfast, but with a few things added. We were offered: fruit, baked goods, waffles with syrup, eggs, sausage, both low calorie and regular yogurt, hard boiled eggs, 2 types of cereal, tea, coffee, orange juice, apple juice, and a large variety of condiments. 12. We had no problems finding parking here. 13. This hotel has a restraunt and convince store on the same block. 14. Check in and out was easy. 15. There is a fitness room. We didn't use it so I cannot leave a review on it. 16. We utilized a small conference room for a family luncheon. It was about the size of a normal dining room. It was well maintained and quiet. All equipment in the room was in great shape. 17. The hallways are well monitored on cameras. The staff actually pays close attention to them. 18. There are ice machines on every floor, and ice buckets provided in the rooms. Cons: 1. The hotel is dated. This is not an issue for me, as it was clean and comfortable. 2. There is a television in the sitting area of the lobby. Not an issue for me as I didn't utilize the area. 3. One of the elevators was closed due to a suspicious sound. The manager did not want to risk the safety of the guests until it was checked into by a repair technician. The staff was willing to help guests with their luggage to the other elevator, which was a small walk away from the lobby. I wasn't inconvenienced by this, as I appreciated the caution. 4. The hotel is on a busy road. It is typical of major city roads, so expect traffic. 5. The dining area is small. They had no issues with us bringing back food to our room. 6. The desk in our room had a broken panel in the front. This in no way hindered the use of the desk, therefore was not an issue for us. My personal feelings on this hotel: I wouldn't hesitate to stay in this hotel again. It exceeded my expectations for a hotel in that price range.
Such a wonderful quaint little place. Breakfast is adequate, rooms are clean. There are several amenities in the room: iron, fridge, microwave. Was a little disappointed there were no safes. Housekeeping is wonderful. There is a 24 hour coffee machine. A nice outdoor patio for smokers. Nice location...A lot nearby. VERY clean! When we checked in water was out because of some government maintenance. Apparently the whole block was out of water. Front desk was very stressed about it and said there was nothing he could do about it. That's understandable, but then management SHOULD have intervened and provided guests with some sort of compensation for it. Water was out for nearly 5-6 hours. And the guy at the desk had to deal with a lot of complaints and angry guests. I don't appreciate management not being involved in the matter and leaving their employee to deal with everything by himself.
The Quality Inn in Southfield is an older property but has been nicely updated. The lobby is bright and fresh with a pretty patio outside. Our room was very comfortable. The beds were comfortable with an array of pillows for every preference. The bedspreads and curtains were newer. The shower had excellent pressure and abundant, immediately available hot water. There were lots of plugs for recharging devices. The WiFi worked great everywhere. The breakfast was average. We stayed at the hotel for 5 nights and became bored with the breakfast, but it is fine for a shorter stay.
I stayed in this Quality Inn Memorial day weekend. The check in was quick, easy and pleasant. Our queen bed room was on the first floor and was nice. We had no complaints about the room at all. They have daily maid service which was nice. The breakfast area can get a little congested with people. But this isn't the hotel's fault. The parking spots near the entrances can fill up quickly but there is ample parking. I would recommend this hotel. It's great for those looking for a decent hotel for not a lot of money. It's not 5 star, but it's not a dump by any means.
I stayed in this hotel three nights . The hotel is less than what you pay for . First, there no one can help you with luggage. You have to carry them by your own. Second, the hotel and the decoration.is very old , smelly , and dull . Third, the hotel was rented by ...... people who kept shouting and screaming all the day long especially at night . Fourth, the breakfast is nothing but waffle maker and few slice bread over there and some cerial . The room is spacious ..
I have to say that I travel a lot! For both work and pleasure. I was on a budget and stayed here for a three night stay. Don't let the OK reviews review influence you... this place is horrible! I was traveling with a coworker on separate reservations. We arrived about 11 pm on a Sunday night. When we arrived we had to walk by people smoking pot on the sidewalk in front. We entered the lobby and noticed several people waiting at front desk. When we got to front desk, he asked if we had reservations. We did. We were then told they had no clean rooms as house keeping left for the day. This was 11 PM!!! The finally gave us each a room on the 3rd floor. We went up the elevator and my room was first down the hallway. When I got to my room and ready to put key in, I could hear the TV on in the room very loud! I wasn't going to try to go in and walk in on somebody at 11:30 pm. I went back to lobby and was told, "maybe the housekeeping left the TV on?" I said I'm not going to try and see if anyone is in there. He said he would have to ask his manager to go check. The manager was there and didnt do anything !! He then said he couldn't even call to check that room as that room didn't have a functioning phone! What?????? Finally I was given another room. Walking to that room, it smelled like pot in the hallway. The room I had (1st floor) the thermostat didn't work. It was either on or off, with no way to adjust the temperature. The ceiling in the bathroom was falling. The dripping in the shower didn't stop. Out my window were more people up late smoking pot on the patio! Next day I came back after work and.... no housekeeping. That next morning I asked the front desk why I didn't get housekeeping and was asked , "did I want it??" I said yes and she said OK we'll get it today. They didn't ask me my room number!! Came back after work and walked on to my room to find out.... all they did was pull my sheets up and threw 2 towels on my counter... not even folded!! They never took out trash, never vacuumed. When I checked out and brought up my issues at front desk I was told, "ok... thanks for telling us." Wow! Then to top it all off, I completed a survey with Choice Hotels and not an apology or admittance of anything wrong. This hotel is a joke. I would rather sleep in my car. Pot smoking, no service, no clean rooms at 11 pm, no apologies, falling apart, dirty! Don't stay here... you will regret it!
