the room was clean and spacious, however when we arrived at the room the smoke alarm was beeping/chirping because the batteries were dead. A basic safety feature of any residential building is a smoke alarm. It should have been working when we checked in. However when we were leaving to see a movie we made staff aware of this, asking if they could go up and fix it while we were out. However, instead of offering to look at it, they offered to change our room.... When we arrived back at the hotel, there was a different staff member, and he was not informed of the situation. Instead of switching our room, he offered to go up to our room to verify that it was making noise, as though we were lying about it, then we had to wait for him to go BACK downstairs for batteries to replace the dead ones. Which he should have brought with him in the first place. this whole situation was avoidable. They never should have given us a room without a working fire alarm, and they should have fixed it, while we were out at the movies, like we requested, instead of inconveniencing us further by coming to our room with us, and then making us wait for the batteries. While the smoke alarm was fixed, I did not appreciate the inconvenience and the attitude that the second staff member had. There should be better communication amongst staff. Lastly, the wifi was not working.... free wifi is a pretty basic expectation for guests, especially as it is advertised by the hotel. 2/5 stars.
