This property is a good location when not wanting to stay in Detroit. The beds were comfortable but the parking lot needs work. My advice to anyone that stays here, is that you thoroughly check you final bill BEFORE departing. Make sure you have your email confirmation with the prices confirmed or else you will experience what we did today. Not only did this property attempt to increase the price of the nightly rate but acted as if they did not nothing wrong. I just so happened to have two copies of the email confirmation. Apparently, when the lady checked us in, she decided to change our rate in hopes that we would not notice until afterwards! Wrong! I probably won't stay at this property again.
Family of four stayed two nights in order to visit Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. Not impressed with the budget free breakfast. Ford has its interns camped out here so place was full between construction and Ford Interns living on site. Near several Restaurants and Big Box stores. 2nd floor room you can hear all the stomping and banging on floor above
Stayed here for two weeks in June. The room was small and compact with a small kitchen - but everything worked well and the kitchen was perfect for a two week stay. The staff was very friendly and had no idea that the hotel is only rated 2 stars, because they are all a 5 start staff. Must have very good management for them all to be happy.
Two words describe what we liked best about TownePlace Suites in Dearborn: The Staff!! My wife and I have traveled all over the world and stayed in scores of top rated hotels but none, absolutely none of them had staff as good as this place. Most staff in quality hotels are cordial and efficient but this group was way beyond that. We stayed here with five other couples for a fifty year reunion of our first jobs in Detroit and the staff anticipated our every need. The rooms are very comfortable, well appointed and exceptionally clean. I do not often write a review for a hotel unless it is to warn others about a substandard experience. But this place is the best. If I could give it more than five stars I would.
Every day of our 1 week stay I said to my wife, "The staff here is excellent". After registering and taking an initial look at our room, I noted to the staff that the refrigerator door opened in the wrong direction, making it hard to manage items in and out of the refrigerator. Before I could return with our groceries, the door had been rehung in a more convenient way. The room was spotless, cleaned daily and without mildew or smoke smells. A grill was available near the pool and tables were place nearby so people can BBQ if they like. The grill too was spotlessly clean. Breakfasts were excellent...eggs, ham, sausage, biscuits, toast, cereals, waffles, yogurts and fresh fruits and a very good quality coffee. Congratulations to the management and the staff for maintaining a first class suite hotel. PS. The hotel is located within a 1 minute drive or 5 minute walk to a Super Walmart.
We started at another property near the airport that normally has a true one bedroom suite, but was somewhat falsely advertised. Here we got a true 2 bedroom suite with a roomy living room with a pull out sofa. There was a full galley kitchen, and we were not bothered that it was poorly equipped. If we were, I expect that the courteous and attentive management would have responded. The property was quiet expect for the happy noise of excited kids coming and going at reasonable hours from adjacent rooms. The breakfast was adequate with both cold and hot entrees that were OK but not remarkable. I recommend this property for those who seek a true bedroom(s) suite near the Henry Ford and Detroit.
Our visit was to celebrate early Christmas with family in the area. The front desk staff were incredibly welcoming to me and my son. Vivian and Catherine are exceptional. They are the face of Marriott, the spirit any operation would want to project. As part of the Christmas season, they had a decorated Christmas tree in the lobby with wrapped presents under it. All the children staying there as we neared Christmas got to choose a present from under the tree. A really special extra. My son and I will definitely return because of them. The room was clean and fine, but slated for refurbishing soon. Not the high point. We'll be back because of the people.
We stayed here for a sports weekend. Very clean hotel, and cozy. Breakfast was a nice breakfast bar, kept up well, and clean. Front desk staff was very attentive and friendly. Although our room was cozy and comfortable, we were placed right by the elevator shaft, which kept my husband up all night. The front desk was very helpful in changing our room, without any question. Very good customer service, helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Great Staff!!, Clean!! (just consider this is a long term stay and people do cook, so sometimes you can smell what other ones are cooking , and also, dont spect a Holiday Inn or Marriot vacation concept as this is a completely different concept and is more focused on guests who are there for working or travelling reasons which do not meant to spend large amounts of time in the ir rooms ) and cozy. If you plan to visit Dearborn ask for a D Pass to get discounts. Finally hotel offers a morning food break which is fair enough and is included on your fee.
STARWOOD: GOLD MARRIOTT: GOLD HILTON: SILVER MELIA: SILVER My travels take me back to Detroit about once a month and so I try to review a different property each time. This was 1 overnight where I chose to stay in Dearborn and my expectations from a Towneplace Suites were that I would find a new property that was very roomy and comfortable, this was not quite the case. HOTEL: This property consists of 3 buildings close together with ample parking. There is a pool, but due to its location, I cant see anyone other than a random family wanting to use it. I certainly wasn't up for a few morning laps as its located right next to the entry road and the entrance doors to the front desk. The Hotel has 3 stories and each building is like an apartment. Key card entry required after a certain time. In the check-in area there is a few small freezers containing your typical drinks, frozen meals, bad for you snacks and ice cream. I was starved and couldn't find anything but a Gatorade, I ordered Pizza and it was not that great. THE LOCATION: Judging by my fellow guests this property is used mostly by business clients, as it is very close to Ford World Headquarters and there is a lot of other Automotive suppliers in the area. It is on Mercury Drive which connects Ford Road to Warren Road, both of which bring you to the Southfield Freeway easily. From the Southfield headed south you can get to 94 and the Airport or Downtown in 20 minutes. Headed North you can get to 96/696, Royal Oak, Birmingham etc in again about 20-30 minutes. On Ford road you will find ample food places for subs, pizza or more, west Dearborn is nearby with everything you can imagine to eat. East Dearborn is also very close and has the best Arabic food outside of the Middle East (I recommend this if you have time). There is also Target and other stores like that on Ford road so plenty nearby. THE ROOM(S): My room originally was on the ground floor, this is not my preference so I was surprised, and she quickly moved me to the third floor, but this room was a 2 room "suite". I say suite that way because it was small, stuffy and did not seem new at all. It wasn't bad, don't get me wrong, just not what I expected. each room has a full "mini kitchen" with Fridge, Microwave, countertops, small living room area etc. The beds were comfortable enough but not Westin quality, although I wouldn't expect it to be. THE STAFF: This is where they win an extra star. Each interaction and I had about 5 was met with a smile and a very energetic can do attitude. I hope the property can see, that this is huge to their clients, and in this case made a huge difference in my overall opinion. Was my Elite recognized? Yes, and while frustrating that my preferences were ignored and I checked in tired to a ground floor ( I will never stay on the bottom floor), they did respond immediately with a remedy. I was also thanked for my loyalty which never gets old. I would not recommend this property unless you are needing to be in the immediate 1-2 mile area. There are newer, upgraded Hotels, including a High end property nearby, and the night I stayed this Hotel was charging $265 per night, which is insane. I do want to thank the staff though, your doing a fantastic job with what you have there.
