Although a Marriott property, completely underwhelming in many aspects. Felt very much like a dorm or low-end apartment complex. I had booked a handicapped accessible room, with a shower seat for a crew person with an injury, upon check-in we were told that they were sold out and the handicap room they had for us was geared more towards hearing impaired. Pretty disappointed especially considering the price paid! Room was a little in need of maintenance, trim that was pulled up, dirty walls around the kitchen area and some other cosmetic damage. Not a typical Marriott experience.
Walked in the door and practiclly tripped on a huge device meant to dry carpet from flooding. Why would they book a room with this in it? Well, we got our answer. They are full. When we arrive, people were hanging outside each building smoking. Every door going in had people smoking outside. We arrived at about 10 pm so this was weird. This posed a problem because they did this all night and the walls are super thin. They yelled and shouted until 3 am. I had to turn music on to try and drown out the noise, to no avail. Finally was quiet at 3 am. Until we started getting wake up calls at 5:55 am that we never set. Everyone was yelling in the halls, The cleaning staff came in and were yelling in the halls. I mean, do not come here is you want to get one second of sleep. I called the desk and she was annoyed because I asked her why the wake up calls from the previous renter hadn't been cleared. She responded, "Do you want me to clear them now?" Ummm, yeah. Dumb. BTW, this was not a cheap hotel by any means. I can see this is I was staying at Motel 6 or 8, but this is a Marriott property. Unforgiveable. There's more but just too much to type. Don't stay here unless you smoke, like yelling outside your room on every side all hours of the night. If you want sleep, go elsewhere.
I loved this hotel! The staff were phenomenal, kind, helpful, friendly and accomodating! They had free breakfast every morning, the rooms were clean and my room was actually ready earlier than expected! I felt like I was in a little apartment as opposed to a hotel. It was conveniently located and easily accessible. My only suggestion is to update the elevators because they are a little scary and outdated. Overall great stay and I look forward to returning.
If you have ever stayed in a Townplace in the past this property is par for the course. My only point is if you are not staying long make sure you specify when you want your room cleaned. We were expecting daily service but found this to be very minimum.
We were set to check in at 3:00pm. We arrived at 3:15pm and were told our room would not be ready for another 45 minutes. We had reservations to be somewhere by 5:30; however, we told them it would be fine. An hour and fifteen minutes later I called the hotel to see if our room was ready before leaving the restaurant we were at. The staff indicated that our room was not clean and they were not able to give us a time frame of when it would be complete. The manager on the phone was very rude as if I should be content with not having a room we paid for. We had already paid for and reserved (multiple weeks ahead) a 2 bedroom suite. We arrived at the hotel even after they said our room wasn't ready and the front desk staff would also not work with us on providing us with different rooms that would equal our already paid for space. Eventually, after remaining assertive, we were told there was in fact a 2 bedroom suite available although it was handicap. I appreciated them being able to place us in a very nice, clean and much enjoyed room; however, it was chaos and very unpleasant. The hotel is very nice but the customer service may have wrecked any previous stays at this hotel.
Although I prefer the Residence Inn brand, I found that this TownePlace had everything we needed for a short stay close to the museum. The staff were very helpful, and we purchased our tickets right at the front desk to both the Henry Ford Museum and the attached village.
have spent 7 weeks here and the stay has been pleasant a few hiccups along the way but the staff is like familythe rooms with kitchenettes suites my needs shopping ang meal options a close at hand as is the airport. two missteps is that the pool faces the parking lot and the patio which gave way to the breakfast area has only 1 table so if you have a large group after hours gathering are a challenge
In Dearborn on vacation and I am a Marriott Rewards member so I am loyal to Marriott. My first time at a Marriott TownePlace Suites and enjoyed my 3 night stay. My stay started excellent with the friendly professional treatment from the front desk staff - "Lillie Stay." Check-in was fast and efficient and Lillie made us feel like old friends. She even had fresh baked chocolate chip cookies to try. Wow, what a welcome. The TownePlace Suites is in a great location, near Michigan Ave where there are lots of places to eat and also to the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation and Greenfield Village, a must see. Hotel offers free breakfast, WIFI and parking as well as a comfortable suite with a small kitchen. Guest laundry and a small outdoor pool also on site. What more can you ask for? Very reasonable price, above average accommodations, and a great location. I enjoyed my stay. Thanks again Marriott,
Checked in after Tiger game and was quick and easy. Room and halls had smell of fresh paint and room had recent updates. In fact, the sofa sleeper hadn't been used yet and was brand new. Still had plastic on the mattress. Asked for more pillows and staff came in and made the entire bed on sofa with sheets/blankets. Very polite too. Breakfast had multiple offerings--waffles, fruit, oatmeal, eggs, sausage, potatoes, etc. Seen 6-8 staff in morning and everyone said Hello. New asphalt and landscaping. Had kitchenette in room too with all nice appliances.
This property is a good location when not wanting to stay in Detroit. The beds were comfortable but the parking lot needs work. My advice to anyone that stays here, is that you thoroughly check you final bill BEFORE departing. Make sure you have your email confirmation with the prices confirmed or else you will experience what we did today. Not only did this property attempt to increase the price of the nightly rate but acted as if they did not nothing wrong. I just so happened to have two copies of the email confirmation. Apparently, when the lady checked us in, she decided to change our rate in hopes that we would not notice until afterwards! Wrong! I probably won't stay at this property again.
