Kimpton Hotel Monaco Chicago

4.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Location is key to this hotel. It is within easy walking distance to most attractions in the loop. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are nicely up to date and were very clean. Space was very good for a city hotel. The only complaint would be that the heater/air conditioner was a little bit louder than I would have liked and that the safe did not work. However neither would keep me from coming back.

Hotel has decent sized rooms, comfortable bedding, nice decor recently updated. Pet friendly which is important for us with no additional charges. Friendly and helpful staff.

the hotel was very nice and a nice location. The decor was bit funky and probably better for couples.

I have stayed in Chicago many times but usually stay on Michigan Avenue or further north. I stayed at the Monaco because I couldn't book a room at a meeting hotel nearby. It was a very pleasant surprise. A small hotel tucked away from the flashy places on Michigan Avenue, the Monaco was very warm and inviting. The room I had did not have a view but was quiet and well furnished. Everything worked. The accessories were very nice and the staff was very accomodating. The location is actually close to everything, just not on Michigan Avenue. I didn't have time to use the health club or the restaurant but there were several places nearby that were inviting.

All of the staff were eager to help us out and we were recognized every time we came and went.

This hotel had everything we were looking for in a downtown Chicago hotel. The room was very comfortable and the staff was great and very helpful. We took advantage of the free bikes you could use which was a lot of fun. The location was perfect and within walking distance to many great areas. Would definitely recommend!

We were very pleased with our stay. Hotel staff is very nice and extremely helpful.

This was a great hotel! The room was very large for our family of 4 (including 2 teenage boys). The staff was very nice and helpful. Coffee bar was very well appointed and the free glass of wine in the afternoon was a nice bonus!

Convenient location for activities we had planned in Chicago.

This was our first time staying at Hotel Monaco, but it will not be our last. It was in a great location - close to shopping, bars, and restaurants. The room was spotless, especially the bathroom. The attached restaurant, the South Water Kitchen, was warm and inviting. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very friendly and suggested menu items, which were all delicious. Overall, this was a fantastic value for a well appointed boutique hotel.

The hotel was excellent the room was clean, the staff was friendly and polite and it was in an excellent location. However there were a few issues that I had with the hotel. The first was that the room had a musty odor to it, for a four-and-a-half star hotel this is unacceptable, however it should be noted that you do get used to the smell and it doesn't stick to you or your clothes. Second the ironing board and the iron did not work properly and the cloth on the ironing board was soaked in water and I was very disappointed by it considering the hotel's reputation and standards. Overall however it is an excellent hotel with great service!

Very nice hotel located within walking distance to the River Walk, The Loop and Millenium Park.

For amount of money I spent, the jacuzzi should have been working prior to us checking in......The maintenance guy had to come in to fix it right in the middle of the night! VERY intrusive. The pillows in the windows were MUSTY! For that price, that is totally UN-acceptable!! This was a special night and I'm sure that Trump Tower wouldn't anything musty and I'm sure everything would be in working order.

The Hotel Monaco is a fantastic hotel in a great location. The hotel is beautiful and the staff is very helpful and accommodating. The lobby is modern and functional with great decor and style. My king room was huge and very spacious with high ceilings and nice furniture. The hotel gym is good enough for cardio and some light weight lifting if desired. The restaurant attached, South Water Kitchen, is exceptional and the meals I had there were excellent. I love Kimpton Hotels and this one lives up the standards I've appreciated in other cities. I highly recommend booking this hotel for your business or personal stays. I will look forward to my next trip to Chicago and my stay at the Monaco again.

Great location. Amazing staff. Will be staying here again. Not one complaint.

We had a very pleasant stay. The staff was attentive, and the hotel was modern and comfortable. And the location, right downtown, was great.

Wonderful location/stay. Staff was friendly, restaurant was nice, room was spacious and well appointed. There was some confusion with housekeeping which meant the room didn't get cleaned for two of our days, but that was probably due as much to our schedule as anything else. Highly recommend.

Great room decorated nicely. Staff was pleasant and remembered you everytime you entered the hotel. Location is closer to the loop than the main michigan ave shopping district, but some rooms have a river view because of that. Only problem I encountered was in the business center when my room/account was not recognized when trying to log into the computers.

The Kimptons are uniformally wonderful. Staff are real and engaging - When they say they'll be "up in one minute", it's the truth. The room was peacefully laid out with a super comfortable bed.

Thanks for the kind words Chris, all things sound as if you enjoyed your stay even if the unfortunate alley noise cut short a sound sleep. Next time check out one of the Riverview rooms, you will love it!
