Excellent stay! The location is perfect for being able to walk and explore the city. The front desk was very friendly, gave us helpful advise and even a coupon for Lou Malnati's Pizzeria. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

Good Choice in Chicago Loop

This is a nice hotel in a convenient location. The decor is modern, and the room was comfortable suite design with a separate seating area separated by a door to the bedroom. The "L" Wash-Wabash is one block away from which you can get anywhere in Chicago and surrounding neighborhoods. Good restaurant and full bar located off the lobby.

Extravagantly friendly staff, nice rooms with art deco touches, easy walk to a bunch of things, and to public transit. Have at least one dinner at the restaurant (Adamus) because the cod and the short rib tacos were Amazing! Also the tropical mocktail was so good i had three.

I feel like the hotel needs a renovation. We had soap scum in our shower, the seal for our bathroom shower needed to be replaced - water seeped out whenever the shower is on, there were cobwebs above the curtains, and it felt dirty and dated everywhere in our room. You can also hear the train and traffic outside even though we were were told the windows were double-paned. I guess it is a city, so it’s unavoidable, but I’ve stayed at other hotels where the noise was a lot less. Elevators are scary and might need to be maintenanced. The door rattles a lot when going up and down. Other than that, the hotel staff was very friendly.

The staff was pleasant, efficient and very helpful! We had a minor issue with our room that was quickly resolved. A sign of a well run hotel! We hope to visit the Silversmith again!

This seems like it used to be a very nice hotel, but they have been letting it go. Grout in showers was moldy, furniture and wallpaper was worn and stained, service in the restaurant was poor. Beds were comfortable and room was quiet, and bar area still nice but overall this no longer feels like a luxury hotel. Also, beware, even if you pay in advance on Expedia, the hotel will still slap you with a $26/night “historical preservation charge.” Must have missed that in the fine print. :-(
