My daughter's recent non-stop flight on American Airlines was supposed to arrive at 6PM. Instead, she arrived at 1:30AM! Baggage then took nearly an hour to arrive at Baggage Claim. She didn't get home until 3AM and she had a huge interview the next morning. My husband tried to call the airline to see if we could make other arrangements for her and the "customer service" rep was extremely rude and uncaring. But, we got a nice apology email the next day with an offer of 7000 reward miles. Just irritated us more because we don't fly enough to ever be able to use those stupid points anyway! Same thing happened to me 9 months ago. I was delayed in Dallas for hours because American just cancelled my connecting flight due to weather conditions, although we passengers checked and there was no adverse weather at our final destination. One of my suitcases deplaned in Dallas, the other was sent on to my final destination. I waited for hours just to claim my Dallas suitcase because there were no employees to move baggage from plane to Baggage Claim. I had to rent a car, drive by myself for 2 hours at night through a very unpopulated area that I am unfamiliar with, go to the airport of my final destination to pick up my other suitcase, and then on to my hotel, only to find that they had sold my room to someone else because I didn't show up. I arrived at my hotel 12 hours later than scheduled! Missed my daughter's show, which was the reason I made the trip in the first place! So frazzled and exhausted that my next day was pretty much ruined. Then it was time to come home! Great weekend, and for this I bought an expensive ticket for the privilege of flying on American Airlines. Never again will I book with American unless I have absolutely no other choice!
