Board one of the many flights from Puerto Plata to New York, and you'll be whisked away from the Dominican Republic coastline to an urban paradise that never seems to slow down. Getting started on your journey is simple. Just visit Orbitz.com, where you can purchase low-fare air tickets and find some of the best possible deals on hotel rooms and rental cars.
The Gregorio Luperón International Airport, the Dominican Republic's fourth-busiest airport, is located 12 miles east of Puerto Plata, along the coastline. The airport offers both short- and long-term parking options, and you can opt to get there by taxi, bus or minibus. Expect cab fare from the city to cost roughly $20, with buses costing significantly less. The airport is serviced by several domestic and international airlines, including American, Air Europe, Continental and Air Comet.
Whether you land at LaGuardia Airport, just 12 miles northeast of the city, or John F. Kennedy International airport, located 20 miles southeast of the downtown area, you'll find that getting from the airport is easy. There are always plenty of taxis meeting the arriving flights just outside of the baggage claim area, and you can also use the public bus or light rail system. Most major rental car companies are located on-site at both airports. New York City experiences cold, snowy winters and hot, humid summers. Expect winter temperatures to range between the high 20s and low 40s, while summer temperatures can soar into the mid-80s or higher. New York sees a few feet of snow each winter, so be sure to pack appropriate snow gear if you're traveling during the colder months. No matter how long you plan to stay in New York City, you'll never run out of things to see and do. If you're a first-time visitor, make sure to visit the Empire State Building, Times Square, Central Park, Fifth Avenue, the Museum of Modern Art and Broadway.
Once you visit New York, you may never want to leave. Although the city moves at a fast pace and never slows down, being a part of it all is something you will want to do again and again. When you begin planning your trip, be sure to visit Orbitz.com to find some of the best deals on flights from Puerto Plata to New York, hotels and rental cars.
