Don’t stay here

By far Dirtiest hotel I’ve stayed in as I was going in it smelt of onions the carpet in halls was thick with dust got to my room the bathroom stunk of feet and sweat between tiles was black don’t know if it was dirt or mold felt unclean getting shower and when I arrived my room was like a oven because the heating had been left on full in there and my radiator controller was broken in the room I went to reception and he had to turn off heating on my whole floor as my heater was broke. Nd stuck on full it took hours of leaving window open to finally cool it down I didn’t sleep till about 3-4 am had to leave window open all weekend because they kept turning heating on the beds are very uncomfortable the bedding was inside out dirtiest hotel I’ve stayed in by far i would advise to stay somewhere else I understand it’s a bit cheaper than other hotels but no need for it to. Be that dirty

The best part is: reasonably positioned for Subway

The curtains in the room did not open or close. The blinds in the room were broken and did not work properly. There was what looked like a old combi boiler in the kitchen area, which we thought would help keep us warm as it was chilly outside, but the radiator in the room did not work. If you are looking for somewhere to get a few hours sleep (and you are a heavy sleeper) then this place is average, there is some water pumps (or similar) that run loud (think I got approx. 4 hours sleep the first night. Staff are polite and friendly, it is about 3-5 minutes walk to the closest subway station, Abbey Road is approx 7 minutes away from the hotel. Room was reasonably clean, doesn't look like it has been decorated (or painted) for a long time. No disabled access. As I said for somewhere to sleep and store clothes for short break, it is OK, but if you want any sort of luxury (like working curtains / blinds to block out the morning sun) then wait until they have sorted these problems out.

City Stay Hotel

My stay was for one night and the hotel suited my needs perfectly. It offered good value for money and the room and bed was comfortable. The room and building could do with redecorating but that didn’t affect my stay. Check in and out was easy and staff / owner friendly and helpful. Would recommend to anyone looking for basic accommodation at value for money cost.

Good budget bed for the night

This is a budget hotel, the bedding was clean, there was a lock on the door, it was near the to tube - ideal. There was mold on the ceiling, stuff in the room was broken, there was no kettle, and so on, but this is why it was so cheap for London. If everything was perfect the price would be easily double.

Hotel facilities were basic but everything you would need was provided. Friendly helpful staff & hotel situationed next door to the DLR overground & 200 yards from the underground. Room provided had toilet & shower, separate kitchen area, dining table & free wi-fi. There is a convenience store over the road from the hotel also. Would definitely stay there again.

"Parking" is minimal and you get charged to use a space around the corner. Room was small but clean. Very little room in bathroom. You are getting what you pay for. Convenient to bow road tube station, short walk to ABBA and London Stadium.

Hotel was fine; bed was clean. Only bad points; some noise from outside but nothing too bad. Room a bit tatty. At the price it’s what you would expect. No cold water in the bathroom; only hot. Beware that after booking online via an agent, it is advisable to call them to confirm; there seemed to be some confusion with the receptionist as a result of this. And also they require ID (driving license/passport) for check in. Would stay again.

This "hotel" is a dump, dirty, and with rude staff. The room I got looked nothing like the pictures. It was a windowless room in the basement, with the walls, carpet, furniture and bathroom fittings all in bad need of renovation - probably the last time anything was updated was in the 1980s. The plywood door was shaking every time my neighbors slammed their doors (about every 15 minutes). There was a "breakfast room" right next to my room that stunk of burned oil, the food smell was so penetrating that I could smell it on my clothes after just walking across the space. An incredibly loud fire alarm went out at 1am. I asked the receptionist what it was about, and he said that someone was cooking in the basement "breakfast room" (yes, at 1am) and added that "it happens all the time". Checkout time was 11am. At 10:25, someone knocked on my door and said "checkout time is 11". I said I knew, but it was only 10:25. At 10:57, she knocked again saying it was "11 o'clock". I said, no, actually it was 10:57 (I was ready to leave). Her reply? "Now it is 10:58". I exited the room at 11:00, telling her that this was rude and unnecessary, and she started explaining how she had to clean the room to get it ready for the next guest - despite the fact that I left on time. After leaving the hotel, I noticed that although I paid on arrival, they charged me again for my stay on my card on file with Expedia, so now I need to get that refunded. Advice: stay somewhere else.

I recently stayed at this hotel for two nights, booked through Hotel.com. The photos on the website looked great, but upon check-in, I was shocked by the actual state of the room. It was filthy dust covering the floor, dirty walls, an unclean bed, and a grimy bathroom. The room looked nothing like the photos, which, upon closer inspection, seem to have been taken in 2008. These rooms are genuinely unfit for anyone to stay in, and it’s clear they haven’t been maintained or cleaned in a long time. This experience left me deeply disappointed, as I trusted Hotels.com to provide accurate listings. I believe this hotel should be removed from the site, as it damages the platform’s reputation.

Fabulous located hotel for ABBA voyage

I wanted somewhere central, with a clean bed and en-suite but didn’t want to pay a lot. Fab location with a wonderful cafe next door (used to be Barclays) For the amount I paid, I can’t grumble, got clean, white bedding, towels and clean en-suite, was only there to sleep. Don’t expect much tho, everything is outdated and a bit grubby, it’s a 2 star, but you get what you pay for.

Just want a good place to lay your head? Read on!

My husband has been going up to London for Merchant Navy Day for a number of years now, and has always stayed at City Stay for at least the past 12 of them. Classed as a budget hotel it is more than adequate for his needs. 2 minutes from the tube to Kings Cross Station it is ideally situated. The rooms are clean and the bathroom is a reasonable size, but being an older building the stairs to the upper floors are not the widest! There is a small friendly lively pub nearby with tables outside if you prefer something quieter. There is a garage opposite with an onsite co-op shop and a Sainsburys store a short walk away to purchase your own food. The kitchen is situated downstairs and is stocked with basics, bread, milk, serials etc, as well as cooking facilities. Obviously the state of the kitchen is dictated by the guests who use it but always starts off very clean daily. There is also a small lounge with tv for socialising. If you are visiting London for sightseeing then you save a lot on normal accommodation prices. You can pay at the hotel and they do have a 24hr cancellation policy.
