Alpine Inn

I have stayed at the Alpine Inn before and was quite satisfied. It still is a reasonable rate. The new owners/managers are very polite and friendly. The room was okay. BUT when I went to have a shower, I could not adjust the proper temperature. The tap temperature would be fine, but once the shower diverter was pulled, I got scalded! Then because of all the steam, the smoke detector went off. Here I was naked waving my towel at the smoke detector trying to get it to turn off. I just got fed up, half washed, got dressed and checked out. Pool and sauna closed for maintenance.

We had pre booked this so were not able to change to a nicer motel unfortunately. The pillows were solid bolsters covered in an embossed fabric entorely unsuitable for sleeping. No other pillows were provided. The hair dryer conked out after 5 seconds. The room was ckean, the towels new. Water hot. Ammenities vety sparse.....No tea bags only one coffee pouch. Not impressed with no mugs . Cardboard cups wrapped in plastic doesn't fit in with Valemount's environmental policies.

I don't hold very high standards for Motels in small towns. All I want is a clean room, clean sheets and a good nights sleep. Unfortunately the Alpine Inn didn't provide any of the three. They are undergoing renovations but I think they should try to work around their guests. My wife and I booked a family room with our Daughter, son in law and one month old baby. We were there for three nights and didn't get our room cleaned once. After the first night we complained and they brought us new towels and emptied the garbage can. We were at a family function all day the second day and they forgot to makeup our room again. This time there was no one to complain to. Then at 7:00 a.m. on Monday morning after my daughter was up most of the night with a fussy baby they started drilling into the wall from the room next door. She jumped out of bed and went next door and told them they had scared the hell out of here and woke her up. They said sorry and kept on working only to move on to the room on the other side of us an hour later. I would have to rate this as terrible customer service.

This is a convenient location off the highway, and a good halfway point between Edmonton and Vancouver (about six hours each way). It is an older, typical two-story, motel that has had some renovations, but needs more. The owners and reception are not overly friendly but seemed polite and considerate. Some of the renovations look to have been done by amateurs; the wiring of the bedside lights was no where close to meeting code. The lobby has a coffee machine, but there is no breakfast option. The pub is just across the road, good for dinner or lunch. The TV signal is poor, but the WIFI worked fine.

A last minute booking along the road, as we made our way to Revelstoke, after we got showered and soaked in Jasper while tent camping. It's like the movies, a motel in a cliché (say, traditional) town and all that. It's good for an overnight stay, the owner's a friendly man. The room's are spacy enough, relatively clean (hey, it's a motel alright) and there's (on and off) wi-fi in the room. Can't complain, besides: they have a pool and hot tub, which was nice!

WE had booked our airfare and rental car and a few hotel nights before finding out that we could not find a room in Jasper, Banff or nearby. We had found a hotel in Valemount for the night before on a different site and found this through a different one (travel city). We had used AmEX to book the room and thought that we had prepaid for the room. In fact we considered trying to cancel and see if there were any last minute cancellation in Jasper but decided to keep our room. The trip in the night before had been an ordeal but we were comforted when we were told that someone was in the office until midnight. As Valemount only has a handful of motels, we assumed (incorrectly) that this would apply to all properties. We were not too concerned and had an relaxing late dinner in Jasper after a long day of driving and hiking around the national park. When we got to the hotel a little after 11 PM I was totally exhausted and had my wife go and check us in. As I waited for her a car pulled up and the driver asked me if there were rooms available. I told him that we had a reservation, but I doubted it based on what we had experienced. He went in and I waited for my wife. She finally came out and said that we were lucky. The manager told her that they do not exept American Express and had we been a few minutes later he would have given our room to the man I was just talking with. We had not thought of calling to say we would be late which our phone would not have allowed us to do anyway, but based on having a reservation with AMEX, our experience the night before thought all was good. Needless to say, we were thankful for a room, any room. The hotel room was clean if not out dated. PEople were outside their rooms and drinking and talking but it was relatively quiet. WE got some sleep and took off the next morning. IT worked.

No, it's not a big box brand new motel. But the room was huge! 3 queen beds! Wifi was awesome. Fridge kept or beer cold. Hot tub was hot, pool was refreshing. It's quaint and Valemount is a sleepy little town that is perfect if you're wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of Jasper or Banff. It's older, it's dated but it's also the perfect little retreat in a quiet area for a good deal.

The alpine inn is a decent hotel as a stopover between Edmonton and Vancouver. Nothing fancy, but the room was clean and the service was good. While a bit pricey, there is not a lot of options between Jasper and Kamloops.

DO NOT stay at this motel, we booked it as there weren't many available hotels on the date we needed one for travelling back from Surrey to Lloydminster. We arrived and checked in, and our daughter wanted to swim. The pool was dirty, and had broken pieces of concrete all over the bottom of the pool. There were no lights in the pool room, or the bathrooms. The hot tub had so much chlorine in it, as we took the blue cover off to go in, the fumes burned our eyes. We went back to the room, only to find we had to go ask for toilet paper and Kleenex. When we went to go to bed we noticed a long hair on stained sheets. 2 tour buses pulled in, so for hours we had to endure a bunch of tourists running back and forth beside our room, and in the upper balcony. Needless to say, none of us got much sleep that night with all the noise. I went to check out in the morning and ask for a partial refund, and was informed by the gentleman that he was sorry we were unhappy, but he was unable to offer a refund. I would have been happy with a $50 refund. (We paid just over $166 for a 2 Queen bed room)

Very disappointed, especially for the cost. First, the sheet was stained. Wonder how often they're washed. Made for a uncomfortable sleepless night. No discounts for seniors, BCAA, etc. $25 extra for 2 little dogs. The AC was ancient and loud. The towels were thin, the room uncomfortable. Won't be staying there again. Would prefer spending the night in our vehicle.
