Kick back and enjoy the best of the desert with a Scottsdale resort hotel stay

Set against the backdrop of the Sonoran Desert, Scottsdale is an Arizonan resort which boasts a mix of resort spas and luxury hotels, along with Old Western charm. A popular destination for both families and couples, Scottsdale resort hotels offer comfortable, affordable accommodation options for both short stays and long vacations.

About Scottsdale resort hotels

While Scottsdale is known as the West’s “most Western town”, there is more than just cowboy culture here. On a Scottsdale resort hotel stay, guests can enjoy spa getaways, with some hotels offering massage and beauty treatments.

Shopping

Many Scottsdale hotel resorts enjoy central locations, with some just a stone’s throw from Scottsdale Fashion Square. This is the largest shopping centre in southwest Arizona and houses an extensive range of top-end brands, such as Bulgari, Burberry and Cartier. For more stores, restaurants and to catch a movie, head to the Scottsdale Shopping Quarter.

Tourist attractions

Camelback Mountain, named after its ‘hump and head’ shape, is popular with hikers who want to enjoy some the best views in Arizona. You’ll also find the biggest aquarium, the OdySea Aquarium, in southwest Scottsdale. Here visitors can see everything from sea turtles to seal and shark exhibits.

To cool off from the heat, head to the Big Surf water park in Tempe. This was America’s first wave pool, with rafts, boogie boards and surf boards available for when it’s time to ride the waves.

Events

During June, the people of Scottsdale get messy at the Mighty Mud Mania. Obstacle courses are laid out for people of all abilities – there are even activities for those who don’t want to get dirty.

Also in June is the Fahrenheit Festival. With arm wrestling, Jalapeno eating contests and long-distance running taking place in the desert heat, it’s no wonder this is called the ‘Hottest Race on Earth’.

Getting around

The best Scottsdale resorts are within easy access of the area’s major attractions. To travel further afield, car hire is a quick and convenient option.
