One of San Francisco’s best known parks is Golden Gate Park. It is pet-friendly and there are four dedicated off leash parks as well as a fenced in training area. Dogs are welcome in the rest of the park on their leashes.

There are dozens of other public parks and special dog parks throughout the city, so chances are there will be one close to where your pet-friendly hotel. Ocean Beach and Baker Beach are two places to head when you want to spend some time near the water either relaxing or enjoying the waves.

To get in some exercise outside the concrete pavement Glen Canyon Park and Lands End Trail are both dog friendly. Union Square Shopping Center is pet friendly as well, though you will want to make sure your dog is leashed and well behaved. You will also find several other stores throughout the city that are welcoming of pets. However, be sure to double check first.
