Rented from Bric Rentals and stayed in 2 bedroom, ground floor nearest the beach unit. Clean, modern, comfortable place with patio. Guest Services was very good and helpful for all our needs. Located a the very North end of Playa Del Carmen this was just what we were looking for as a non-all inclusive and easy taxi drive (5 minutes/9 pesos) to almost anywhere we wanted to go in the city. We ordered groceries ahead of time and they were placed in the kitchen before we got there, used their transfer from the airport (reasonable $120.00 both ways) and mainly laid by the large pool and on the private beach (50 yards away). We ordered drinks on the beach and used the 7-11 across the street for any forgotten items. If you are looking for a very quiet place to relax and see few people, be treated very well and stay in someone's condo this is the place for you.
We rented a third floor condo for a 10 night stay from the condo's owner, not the condotel. The condo owner offered to move us to a different location since the elevator had only worked 1 1/2 days out of 3 at the being of our stay. We declined since we figured the elevator would eventually be fixed. WRONG. It only worked 1 1/2 days of our 10 day stay. We would "inquire" about the elevator at the front desk every so often and the response was a nice, confused smile = no comprendo. Nice location if you don't mind the extra exercise and the evening music from the neighboring beach bars.
It was my first time visiting Mexico with my fiancee and his younger brother. It was his younger brother's first time out of Canada! We found the condo's atmosphere to have a little bit for everyone from party to family environments. The bartenders Edgar and Alan in the private beach club (which btw is the only beach club that rakes the algae that is pushed by the ocean so you don't have to walk through it to get into the ocean) are amazing. they are so welcoming and their service is nothing but the best! They work extremely hard and go out of their way to make your stay one of a kind. I am definitely going back.
Property was very nice and comfortable with all the amenities a family or couple could ask for. The community is relaxing and relatively quite but in a great location with a few restaurants and other beach clubs next door and all along the beach. Only a short walk to the main street of Playa del Carmen with tons of bars, restaurants, and shops. We spent most of our time on the beach and on this street. They both had just about anything you would need or want. Seaway Property Management handled the specific unit we stayed in and they, along with our concierge Lillian Constantino, were amazing! They were very communicative and helpful. Lillian was the best concierge I have ever had the pleasure of helping my family and I and she went above and beyond to help us plan the most of our vacation. She helped us setup a van for two days to explore the surrounding areas like Tulum and various cenotes. I can not express enough how amazing our trip was as a result of her effort, Seaway's quality service, and The Elements location and amenities. Would definitely recommend to anyone who appreciates a relaxing, well equipped, and well located place to vacation.
We are a family of 5 with 3 kids under 11 and we would recommend this place if you are looking for a comfortable place for your family. This is a unique resort given its location (quiet but also walking distance to a lot of fun places like restaurants and more) and its big pool and beach access. There is parking available too and if you rent a car you are able to travel throughout the Riviera Maya with ease. The condo itself has a great floorplan and it is very convenient to have some meals there. There are nice views of the ocean. The front desk people and especially Lilian with Seaway are very professional, responsive and nice. They all want to make sure you are enjoying yourself and they are available to help. We would consider returning to this place in the future.
Castilo de Arena, a beautiful two-bedroom, two-bath condo managed by North American Standards, is beautifully decorated and equipped with a stupendous view of the pool and the Caribbean from its spacious, breezy, and comfortable terrace. It is located in the high-end condo development the Elements, our family's favorite place to stay in Playa del Carmen. The location near Coco Beach is quiet but close to all of the restaurants and beach clubs one could wish for. The grounds are kept impeccably, and the staff is friendly. Because of the exquisite decor in the condo, it is probably not optimal for families with small children.
My friends and I booked our trip about two months in advance and everything went perfectly! The management company, Seaway, made it extremely easy for us with quick responses before our stay and making sure we had everything we needed while at The Elements. The rooms were even more beautiful than expected and very clean upon arrival. Lilian was our main point of contact for Seaway during our week long stay and she was great! She helped with everything from restaurant ideas, beach locations, club reservations, setting up a car service, etc. Lilian made us feel right at home and she knows all the great local spots! She made the trip much more enjoyable and we thank her for her amazing help! There is no doubt we would come back and stay at The Elements, we are actually already planning our return trip for next year!
7 of us stayed in penthouse 8 from VRBO in February 2017. Incredible ocean view from the master suite! Very spacious (2 balconies, 3 bathrooms, jacuzzi, lots of space) and comfortable. Elements is very close to the beach (across the street) and has a private beach access. The pool is amazing and right in the center of the property. Very safe and easy to get in/out. The main street is a two block walk and there's a convenience store next door. Very beautiful condos, property, and location. A special mention here for the concierge, Lillian. She helped my large family (including baby) have a great experience, including organizing all transportation and giving suggestions about great restaurants and things to do around Playa. She organized a group outing to Tulum and Coba and provided us a great driver for the whole day. Really kind and friendly gracious host, can't say enough about how she made our vacation perfect.
We rented our unit through BRIC which I have never done in the past and was so happy we did. Using BRIC made the process easy and gave us access to Miguel, Brenda and the rest of the great staff at The Elements. We stayed in PH 23 for the month of March. We had family and friends coming in throughout the month so the 3 full bedrooms and 3 full baths were perfect. To set the stage for our suggestions, my wife and I are both in our early 50's and we had four children all come during the month who are in college for their spring breaks. The unit has basically two master suites with the third bath being in the hall way just out side the the third bedroom. The Elements is a condo not a resort. Some of the amenities people want may not be available ( on site lounge, cocktail bar or restaurants). However, there is a private bar on the beach for The Elements guests that provide great frozen drinks and a beach bar Canibal Royal( great guacamole and ceviche) steps away plus you are literally a five minute walk from the northern end of 5th Ave and all the restaurants shops and bars you could need. I will do this review based on pros/cons. I will begin with the cons because there are so few. Cons: 1. There is a beach but it is not a great swimming beach. If you walk 5 minutes in either direction there are much larger beaches. Never bothered us as we are more pool rather than beach folk. 2. The pantry and some storage cabinets of our unit were understandably locked up by the owner which is fine unless you are there or a month. The storage/counter space was limited and the kitchen was on the smaller size but only an issue because we were there for a month. 3. There is a charcoal grill on the second floor balcony. I would prefer gas for convenience since we just never felt like going through setting up the charcoal. That is IT for us on the negative and we were there for a month. Now for the positives. 1. BRIC was great to work with and Miguel and Brenda were outstanding. Do not hesitate to ask them for anything and they will get it done for you.If you need restaurant, bar, activity suggestions or have any issues with your unit they are always on top of it. 2. PH 23 was perfect. Great size with two balconies and a hot tub ( does take about 25 minutes to fully heat up) but what a view from the tub at sun set.TV's with satellite in both master suites. Netflix,HULU and some english speaking channels ( ask Miguel for help and switching to english for those stations that have both). All appliances were updated with a microwave, blender and toaster. The dishwasher we did not use much as it we felt doing them by hand was better. If you rent from BRIC our rental including maid service ( Esther was great),dish soap, water cooler refills, detergent, dish soap, paper towels and toilet paper. Also, if you call x501 they will bring you 5lb bags of ice for 25 peso's. WIFI routers throughout the unit made sure you always had WIFI. 3. Pool was always maintained and we never had an issue getting a seat either at the pool or the private beach area. The beach area also has massages and a great little bar with snacks. Edgar makes fantastic drinks for $3! These are not like the sugary drinks at the AI's these are fantastic. He is open from around 1:00-7:00 everyday but Monday. 4. Location. This may be a personal choice but we did not want to be in the middle of the nightly party scene that begins around midnight in Playa. We could walk and be right on 5th Ave in 5 minutes or take a cab to the center of 5th for $5. We did this almost every night and were so happy to be able to come back to Elements were it was nice and quiet. There is a cab stand right out from of the lobby so cabs were always available. Also, this location is near where the locals hang out and the scuba and fishing boats go out in the morning. We really liked seeing this every day but some may not. This was never an issue and made us feel like we were seeing a little of the daily life of the locals. 5. After being there for a month we also believe the restaurants and bars that we enjoyed the most were towards our end of 5th ave. I think this was because most of the tourist only walk 10-15 blocks from the ferry then turn around so it seem like these restaurants by our end were more laid back with better food and value. 6. There is a 7-11 right next door which is huge. It is so nice to be able to walk over and grab anything you need quickly without having to go to a larger store. They have just about anything you would need . Also, maybe the best wood fired pizza I have ever had is also across the street,Salento is fantastic and very reasonably priced. My kids all ate there and could not believe how good the food was. 7. Fitness Center and Business center. I honestly thought that both of these would be outdated and not worth going to. Could not have been more wrong. Business center had two computers ,nice large table, printer and coffee maker. The fitness center has all new equipment and is two floors with windows looking out toward the sea. These were all new Life Fitness equipment and were great. Two ellipticals, three treadmills, stationary bike then plant of weight machines. They have DVD players on both floors so if you wanted to bring workout DVD's you can. I am a runner and I would also recommend running 5th Ave in the morning. There are a lot of runners that go up and down 5th ave and it is great to see the area before the madness begins later in the day. 8. Our favorite places.... El Pirata- Local place very casual best seafood and prices you can get. 5 minute walk. They are only open until 8 but everything is fresh and great. The Thompson Hotel roof top bar- Awesome view of sea and great vibe up there. Patio bar is open until 6 then Catch on other end opens until 11. LAn20- Thompson Hotel area. It is on second floor overlooking 5th Ave. Plank- High end restaurant. Good for a special occasion. El Fogon Taqueria near Mega Supermarket- The best steak tacos we have ever had. Outdoor taco bar.Our kids loved this as a late night spot. Cinacolo 5th Ave- Italian. Can't miss it as they make the pasta in a glass covered area right on 5th. Everything we had there was great. Little higher end on pricing but well worth it. LaCueva del Chango- fantastic authentic food ,we went for breakfast and lunch. It is very close to condo right off 5th Ave on 38th. Chez Celine- 5th Ave and like 34th. Great breakfast spot. Always crowded on weekends. Milos Greek Taverna- Great spot for something different also on 38th right near beach.Very close to condo. Zensi Beach Bar-We were there during March madness and they could/would put on any game we wanted.Decent food and good live music later in the night. Almirante- Really cool bar on 5th ave. Little pricey but had a nice vibe at night and always a good crowd. Canibal Royal- Right on beach next to The Elements. Second floor has great view and food and drinks are priced right. Great for a quick lunch or early dinner. I would also recommend Wal-Mart, it is an easy walk in the morning ( 1.2 miles) and there are cabs waiting for you as you exit to bring you back with your groceries. Prices are great and baked goods, fruits and vegetables were great. We considered buying alcohol duty free but found Wal-Mart cheaper they also have ATM's which are much better on fees than any of those on 5th Ave.
Great location! They keep the place very clean and safe. The beach area is very nice although you can't swim right there. It's only a short walk right or left for a nice swimmable beach. It's so close to fifth avenue, that was a plus. My only complain will be the sewer smell outside the building by the beach. Overall, great place to stay.
