Great hotel in the heart of Poughkeepsie NY. Restaurants are nearby and a short drive to Marist College. Friendly staff, good hot breakfast and updated, spacious rooms. Plenty of free parking and walking distance to Starbucks.

Stayed at this hotel for a wedding in the area. They upgraded us to a two-bedroom and it was very nice and even though we didn’t need the extra space it was nice to have two bathrooms. We didn’t get to spend a lot of time in the room but it was clean and had everything we needed. The kitchen and living room were so cute we wish we could have stayed longer! We got married six days after staying here and we had booked a block of rooms at Residence Inn near our venue and after our stay here we knew our wedding guests that had booked rooms would be happy!

Only had an overnight stay here, so didn't have the opportunity to enjoy a number of amenities, such as the Pool/Fitness Center/etc., but I did see that these areas are clean, modern, and up-to-date. Our room was amazingly clean and comfortable, with modern furnishings. Wi-fi was top-notch. Breakfast was good, as expected from the brand. The Breakfast Crew were very helpful, BTW ! Front Desk service was A+, and Top-Notch. I've stayed at a number of Residence Inns , over the years, and I would rank this one one "in the top tier".

Although this hotel is 2 miles south of Poughkeepsie, don’t worry, you’re not missing anything. The hotel itself is quiet and somewhat secluded, with large, comfortable rooms and plenty of parking. There are quite a few strip mall restaurants close by to satisfy anyone. Indoor pool, friendly staff, decent breakfast, we would stay here again.

Arriving after a very long and busy day to attend my 50th reunion at nearby Vassar College, I was a combination of tired (JFK Airport late Friday afternoon is not for the faint-hearted) and excited to see old friends. The greeting from front desk staff was both friendly and efficient, and this continued through my three-day stay. My one-bedroom unit was standard Residence Inn, which is nice, but it never seemed 100% spick-and-span. Probably because it was a very busy weekend in Poughkeepsie, including at least one wedding group staying at the Residence Inn. And if the hotel is as short-staffed as are many throughout the US these days, it was probably difficult to keep up. Although the hotel does not have its own restaurant, there are several quite close by. Being practically next to the large IBM facility has advantages.

TLDR; They will move you upon their own mistakes without telling you! When you try to follow up - they ignore you! -------- Formerly an annual repeat customer - we usually have a small group of folks who stay at this hotel every year for an event in Poughkeepsie. All employees of a large Tech company, usually we are valued customers who has potential to bring in even more customers. We were ABSOLUTELY DISAPPOINTED this year! We made reservations months in advance; had our confirmations and everything all set. THREE business days before (received on Weds when the trip was for the next Mon), the Assistant GM emails one of the guests to say they had a current group extend their stay and they are kicking us out to their sister hotel 30 MINS AWAY! First of all, I don't understand why you would like a group extend their stay if you're already booked w/ confirmed guests. Secondly, 30 mins away is no small distance to travel! So the guest shared this email w/ the others intending to stay so that we can follow up and make sure everyone was not moved. Turns out only some of the folks were moved, and not all. NOT EVERYONE was notified though! This was because there was no email/phone number on file which is interesting because that information is requested when booking the hotel. We also receive an email confirmation upon booking so how is that possible? I asked what would have happened if my executive showed up as originally intended and they had been moved w/o being notified - we were told they would've just shuttled them to the other location. Well gee, at least that would be free of charge. Okay, so they screwed up and tried to move us. However when we called to ask to move to a hotel at least in the same city (Poughkeepsie), we were told it would be no problem and that we will be staying at the Holiday Inn, Poughkeepsie right across the street from the original hotel. Hours later - no confirmation email. Called again to follow up and was told the Assist GM has gone home for the day and that he is working on all the confirmations. Thursday comes and we get an email confirmation at the end of the day to the hotel 30 mins away! Called the hotel immediately to ask what happened and why we weren't at the Holiday Inn as told the day before and the rep said the Assist GM is the one managing and the only one who can approve that. He has already gone home for the day again. I asked for a direct number so I can call in the morning and was told to email him as he is "really responsive to emails. Even though he went home he will probably see your email tonight and respond". So - email sent and asked about the Holiday Inn and why we were still in a hotel 30 mins away. No response. Called Friday morning and was told the Assist GM was OUT OF OFFICE for the day!!! I asked then for the GM and was told I have to speak directly to the Assist GM. When I asked who was covering since he is out of office, they clarified and said he was just "working from home and if I send an email he will respond right away". Right.... well worth a shot... so sent an email AGAIN following up. End of day on Friday and still no response. When I called the hotel once more (this is btw, the 5th time in 3 days I have called the hotel) I was told the Assist GM would be working / in the next day on Saturday. When I asked if there was an alternative option to speak to someone about the incident I was put on hold. I was on hold for 53:49 before I finally hung up. Saturday comes and still no contact from the Assist GM or anyone from the hotel. This is supposed to be a 4.3 star hotel!? UPDATE: The Assist GM finally responded back via email the afternoon before check-in saying he is looking into the hotel requested. When I asked what the rate would be - he said he would let me know once he heard back. I waited several hours to hear back and after no further update I emailed back to let th Assist GM know that we had booked an alternative. I’ve received nothing further - I wonder if the Assist GM even really did look into the original hotel requested.

I had the pleasure of staying at this property with a large group recently. They went above and beyond to ensure that all of our needs were met from check in to check out. The Manager and Assistant Manager were accommodating and extremely helpful. The front desk staff members Sydney and Jessica were prompt, helpful, and very friendly. The hotel recently underwent a major upgrade and looks fantastic. The rooms are very nicely appointed and slept 4 of us comfortably. We were very pleased with the pool area and the fact that the location is close to many shops and restaurants. The only complaint that I have is that I couldn't stay longer. I will definitely return and would recommend this hotel highly!

This was our third stay at the Residence Inn in Poughkeepsie - this time for our daughter’s graduation from the Culinary Institute of America’s up the road in Hyde Park. The staff was super-friendly, from the initial call to Sydney to help get the 3 rooms I booked for our family close together (that resulted in upgrades without even asking), to Cory the Asst. GM at check-in, to Brandon who was extremely attentive and friendly during breakfast, the staff made sure we were taken care. The little gift bags in each of the rooms was a nice touch (not sure if being Titanium Elite helped with that). The facility was super-clean and newly renovated. The kitchens in Residence Inns are convenient and great to have if you’re here for a few days and don’t want to eat out all the time (although there are a lot of great restaurants nearby - national chains and local, including the restaurants at CIA). The breakfast buffet is a nice addition - don’t have to worry about that getting out the door in the morning. The menu varies each day - fruit, eggs, yogurt waffles - even soy milk for my Vegan wife. The first time we stayed here, we said we’d be back any time we came for a visit to CIA - and definitely have. I would strongly recommend the Residence Inn Poughkeepsie for family, business or extended stays.

Stayed here on a road trip with my boys. Staff was incredibly friendly--from the front desk to the breakfast staff and managers. Room was clean. I just had two small issues--one of the sinks drained slow and as a Marriott Gold member I wasn't initially offered a room upgrade until I had an issue with the first room. Seeing as we checked in at 10:30 at night, I don't think it was an issue of one potentially being booked. Other than that I had no issues and breakfast staff was so wonderful they more than made up for any negative feelings.

My husband has been staying here since January 24 now 90 days. I would like to commend Marcia a housekeeper who stands out as an example for others to follow. She is ALWAYS pleasant and does an outstanding job. It is evident she takes pride in her duties she goes above and beyond to ensure our stay is as comfortable as possible. Great job. When we return to our room we can tell she was the person who cleaned it. She takes extra care in making sure all tasks are completed she needs to be recognized for her accomplishments!!!
