Absolutely beautiful! This inn was built in 1915. One of the most charming inns I have had the pleasure of staying at. The food was excellent and the staff was very friendly.

A wonderful rustic lodge, perched in perhaps the most naturally scenic spot I've been in in a hotel. Out my window, the Hudson River, winding its way South, framed in woodland. But I think the place is used a lot in the warm weather by rowdy wedding parties and not that much used in colder months (when we were there) The common area is great, but wasn't inviting. I would have liked to take a book, or just sit, while my companions slept. A large common area is a real nice addition, but it was slightly unkempt. A loud buzz from something that wouldn't turn off, no books or games in the shelves. A dozen bare shelves instead, What should have felt like a luxurious space felt instead like a passageway you should just rush through. It felt dusty (whether it was I'm not sure) The room though was very clean, the decor charming. No complaints there!

The surroundings is beautiful, but the hotel itself is not impressive. We stayed at Overlook Lodge. There was a wedding blasting loud music at the lower floor until 10:30 PM. The floor and walls were vibrating from the loud music. This doesn't work for anyone with young kids.

Quite and relaxing, overall a great stay to get away from they city for a night or a weekend.

We had a wonderful stay at the Overlook Lodge. It is a nice blend of rustic and convenient - makes you feel like you're out in the woods (which you are) but still have access to modern conveniences. Food was good, but service was outstanding. The actual cottages we stayed at, while generally well appointed, could do with some updates to the plumbing. WiFi is a little spotty in the detached units, so if you're not trying to disconnect from the world, find a room at the main lodge. Convenient access to the Bear Mountain hiking trails is a huge plus and parking is free for hotel guests. So come for a day-hike, but stay the night (or two) to rest those sore muscles.

Beautiful landscape, very peaceful and relaxing. Easy access!

It was a rustic feel with all the amenities. The scenery & location was beautiful. It was tucked away so it was very private.

This is a quaint and quiet place. Very peaceful and nice.

Excellent service. Gorgeous views. Convenient location.

Building not connected to main building. Not the best if you are coming without a car. It's also just not as nice as the inn. Restaurant closed earlier for breakfast than times posted.

WAS ONE OF THE BEST PLACES I EVER STAYED. WE WERE AT THE INN, NOT THE OVER LOOK LODGE, OR THE STONE COTTAGES. WE WERE LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE UPGRADED, BECAUSE OF THE SNOW.

Reception desk people with attitude. Very bad. Not felt welcomed.

Have low expectations for your room because it is state owned and the state does not have money to modernize the lodges. The food was great and the staff was very good.

Location is the main selling point of this lodge. The rooms were fine, not the greatest. The lodge itself is in a separate location with no front desk or staff to help out with anything if needed. The breakfast is also at the inn near hessian lake. But we still enjoyed the stay and would recommend to others.

Thank you for you're feedback, we will work on improving the common area, and it is usually stocked with games sometimes guests take them to their room. Glad you had a good stay!
