The hotel is stuck in a time frame of about 30 years ago. The staff was useless. The valet couldn't find my parent's car so they left the ticket on a counter and moved on to the next person. Another valet insisted on taking my parents to their room but could not find it. We went for breakfast but they would not seat us because the kitchen was too far behind. Our room was dirty. My blanket had a stain on it that looked like blood and both blankets were ripped. The bathroom was dirtier after the maid service than before she came. We went for a drink at the bar, sat there for almost 10 minutes even though there were only 2 other people at the bar, and then the bartender came over with the pleasant greeting of: "you want something?" All in all, we were disgusted by the time we left. Go somewhere else.

It was a generally pleasant stay. However, they did not get the reservation correct from the third party internet booking service and claimed we were only booked for one night. It took over an hour for them to find out that we were in fact booked for two nights and did not have to leave the room. No compensation was offered for the worry and anxiety. Entertainment was fun, the crowd geriatric but friendly. A good place to take your mother! The location is lovely. Food was good at the buffet we sampled, but the pastry was terrible for a place that specializes in Italian food.

The hotel was recently renovated and everything was beautiful and clean. You cant help but be impressed by the fountain and the main lobby. The pools were amazing. They had everything from kiddie pools to adult only. And most of the time a live band played. Guests even got up to sing with the band. Great time!

We stayed here for a weekend over the Hurricane Irene weekend. On the whole, it was disappointing. Only the odd employee was nice and courteous. Some were just downright rude. We had a 2 bedroom suite, which was clean and a decent size. Unfortunately it was right next to an elevator bank, which was noisy, and the AC in the bedrooms was beyond frigid. We had to turn it off completely at night to be able to sleep. Food was average at best. Would have no interest in going back to this place.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for about 8 hours, so I can't comment on much of what happens at the Villa Roma. We were due to arrive on a Friday evening and check out on Sunday. However, we didn't want to attempt to make the trip from NYC in the dark so we arrived Saturday morning. The check-in process was slow and there was a question as to whether or not the room was available...it was, thank goodness since we already paid for the previous night! Once we got to the room, I was very displeased. We were obviously in a very old part of the hotel...we had to climb steps up to what looked like the service area of the building. It was boiling hot and simply dingy looking. I guess going through [...]for the booking relegated us to the worst part of the facility. We peaked into other rooms being serviced and they seemed to be in better shape than our room. We didn't stay the night and just checked out later he same day.

Very kid friendly. A lot to do for entire family.

My family planned a celebration for my mother's 65th birthday. We have three young kids all under the age of three. The activities for the "preschool" group is lacking. Our family drove from Long Island and we were looking forward to beautiful country grounds. Unfortunately the Villa Roma, is an updated hotel but the grounds are lacking. You have to cross a busy street to get to the pools (which of course is seasonal). There is no true outside area where a family can relax, and just take in the natural beauty of upstate NY. The staff is not trained well. Check in we were not given the day's itinerary or a map of the resort. We later had to go and ask. Also the waitstaff differs from the drinkstaff so we never were able to order our wine. The children's food was not served with any of our appetizer courses, so the kids were getting hungry and antsy. I finally had to ask the maitre'd if they could please bring out the chicken fingers (the only thing they offered for children). The kids literally waited an hour from the time we arrived until they were able to eat. During our dinner, a family fight broke out at the neighboring table. One man pushed another man's chair to the ground and had his fist to his face. This was right next to my daughter's highchair. It was really quite tacky. The resort allowed these angry/violent men to come back in the dining area and eat. The comedian was actually quite funny, and the duet that performed in the lounge was talented. The entertainment and the nice size suites are really the only positives I could say. The food was okay, nothing spectacular. I have no interest in returning.

Alot of things to do. Had A BLAST TUBING.

This is a wonderful family resort. The staff is very helpful and friendly and will go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied. The food is top notch (although you had better be hungry if you choose the meal plan). The entertainment is is very good and makes you want to get involved! My family and I highly recommend the Villa Roma!

Very nice modern and clean. Seems to have a lot of activities but we didn't take advantage of them. The location was about 20 minutes from the major highway. I found that to be inconvenient especially during inclement weather where these one lane roads are narrow.

This is a great place for families of all ages. Families come back there year after year. There is plenty to do for everyone. The staff are very polite and helpful. We are looking forward to visiting there again. The resort is nestled away in it's own valley about a 1/2 hour north of Monticello. There are a number of places to visit within 1/2 hour of the resort (although we had so much fun there that we never left). I would highly recommend the Villa Roma to any family looking to have an enjoyable and relaxing vacation.

[...] We were upgraded to a suite which was great! Food was super too! Definitely great for families!

Great vacation, adults enjoyed the pool and the nightly music. kids enjoyed gocarts, pool
