Our condo was exactly as described. The 12th floor offers amazing views. The outdoor hot tubs were not working which was disappointing. However the pools were awesome and the outdoor grills were extremely clean each time we used them. We traveled with a 12 yo and a 6 yo and both met new friends and enjoyed the entire complex.
Staff is nice. Condos are nice size. Bikini bobs is a great place to eat. There’s a tiki bar at the pool. The real issue I have with this place is the elevators...they need about 4 more. On the weekends when people are arriving and leaving it’s horrible. You wait 10 minutes sometimes and then once you’re on the elevator you get stuck on it stopping on all the floors and you can’t fit anymore people :/. Also no pets
Specific to privately owned condo #725. The attached pictures were taken during our stay. In addition to these pictures we also encountered soiled sheets on the bed which we did not photograph. The Summit has private owned condos of varying quality, with all of the available selections I am certain there are better choices than #725. Outside of this specific unit the stay was acceptable.
Wow! This place was sooooo nice. The view was great, pool area was huge and super clean and you are literally steps from gorgeous white sand and blue water! And I can’t say enough about the newly renovated condo itself. Exceptionally clean and decorated so cute!! Not to mention stocked with everything you would need to feel at home! Loved it! I would Highly recommended this unit. The owners have recently remodeled with new tile flooring, kitchen cabinets, new appliances and much more. You will not be disappointed with this unit. There is plenty of things to do, relax on the beach, swim in the 2 pools, meet new friends at the Tiki Bar.
In fairness to The Summit management my rating specific to a privately owned unit. THE RESORT POSITIVE NOTE: No bugs! Pest free. Next best thing was the pool area, it was clean and well maintained. Two huge pools and adjacent kiddie pool. The grounds around the pool area were well maintained. Pool furniture was heavily used but functional. This is a huge heavy traffic resort. It is obvious throughout the building that The Summit has a lot of visitors. I think the management company is struggling to keep up with maintenance and cleaning. Nothing overly dirty, just lots of evidence of use everywhere. Worn walkways, painting needed, elevators show high use. PRIVATE UNIT Most of the bad reviews for The Summit are regarding private condos that the management company has no control over. However there is an HOA and certain standards should be required and owners held accountable. Owners not up to standard should not be allowed to offer rentals. The unit I rented had maintenance and cleaning issues. One concern was severe, I credit the owner to taking immediate corrective action. Based on reviews from others it is obvious some owner units are better maintained than others. That being said....ASK QUESTIONS up front, require pictures and references. I will not name the specific unit as the owner deserves and opportunity to take corrective action which I have addressed with them. Just do your homework people.
We like The Summit because it is right on the beach so you get the million dollar view of the ocean. We like the two big pools which are open early in the morning until late at night. The girls in the office were very friendly and helpful. We had an issue with the air conditioning and it was fixed by the time we came back from dinner. There are several nice restaurants that are an easy walk. We have been here at least 6 times and we will return.
My husband and I stayed here for a week. The room definitely exceeded our expectations! Washer and dryer in unit. Kitchen complete with everything you could possibly need. Wonderful view off the private balcony. The grounds were kept immaculate. 2 outdoor pools to accommodate all the people. Security on site. Restaurants within walking distance. Felt like home which made for a very nice vacation!
Let's start with the pros: - Bikini Bobs - Affordable - lots of Cons: - Loud (next door to Club La Vela and Spinnaker) - 450 rooms so it makes parking difficult at times - waiting on the elevator (they are slow) - some of the rooms are very dated
This is probably our fourth or fifth visit to The Summit @ Topsll. It's our favorite place to stay in the area but felt compelled to write this review out of a little frustration. First , the good. The place is gorgeous, quiet and relaxing due to its proximity to a next door nature reserve. It's a retreat from the tourist trap areas of the west end of Destin. The staff have always been gracious and accommodating, the security guard they have now was probably the most attentive to his duties I have ever seen. This place is VERY safe and secure. The Pool and Grounds are well taken care of and the views are first rate. Love it. Where they dropped the ball this time is maintenance, we are frequent users with Wyndham resorts and though I realize this is a private owned condo, the maintenance is managed by the resort. We found ourselves locked out of our room four times, called the front desk each time and were sent a new code which worked two of the four times. However twice we had to wait to be let into our rooms. We left for an afternoon at the beach and we're told Maintenance would address the issue. Upon return.. same problem. Luckily we saw a maintenance man in the area and asked him to help us. He diagnosed within a few seconds that the batteries were dead on the electronic lock, changed them and boom... problem solved. Just wish this could have been done the first time. The next morning the maintenance manager visited us personally and apologized so kudos for that.
