Very nice updated hotel. I’d call it classic colonial style. Great location. 10 min walk to Thames street and the piers with all restaurants on the water. Very happy with the location and super clean bedrooms and sheets/pillows. The only one con I can say is the 45.00/day parking. It’s pretty steep considering there are many spots and you’re paying for the room. That is the only negative.

Nice hotel but if you book through a 3rd party, they will CHARGE YOU $50 A NIGHT EXTRA when you check out. Kind of ridiculous. Was not aware of it when checking in. Also if you drive, there's no free parking, valet only as nd you have to pay an extra $45 a night for it.

Wonderful hotel in Newport !

I went to this hotel for a weekend in Newport with a friend and we had a wonderful experience. We loved having breakfast in the market. One day we took the hotel bicycles and rode to see the mansions. We were able to walk to the International tennis Hall of Fame and to the Wharf area for dinner. We could also walk to the Newport Art Museum, and the downtown area for some nice shopping. The hotel is convenient to everything. Our room was very large and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. I definitely recommend this hotel!

The air conditioning two night in a row didnt work. The room was almost 80 degrees and made it almost impossible to sleep. The only thing they did for us was credit the valet charge.

We were sadly disappointed in our stay. The front desk felt rushed and unwelcoming. We haf a king room that has obvious eater damage in bathroom and adjacent wall. The water issue became clear when the ceiling started pouring water from the light fixture. We took a video and notified the front desk, and was met with we can send maintenance, and I quote "Maybe they can fix it." Or you can change rooms to a double queen. No apology or upgrade offered simply this is the only room we have to offer its up to you. Now I don't know anyone who would willingly stay in a room that has water pouring from the ceiling. I understand that it was a holiday weekend so therefore options would be limited, but with a high rating and a $650.00 price point one would expect more. We changed rooms with little fanfare or acknowledgement from front desk. I would certainly not stay at the Viking again ot recommend it to others. Last year we stayed at a different hotel in Newport for $500.00 a night and had much more favorable experience.
