Adequate Yet Underwhelming

I recently stayed here in a family trip for 3 nights and was slightly underwhelmed. While it's a great location with a nice lobby and awesome roof top lounge, the rooms were very dated and very limited on space. For $700/night, I would hope for a little nicer accommodation and certainly to have my room serviced each day (which unfortunately it was not.)

Stayed here three times prior with no issues, this most recent stay was average at best. Hotel appears to be understaffed everywhere except the car valet service. Waiting for simple items such as 1/2 dozen oysters took upwards of 15 minutes, tacos took 20 minutes, not good service for the menu price they charged.

We recently stayed at Hotel Viking in Newport, Rhode Island, and unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. From the moment we checked in, we noticed a lack of cleanliness throughout the property. Our room, in particular, had several concerning issues. First and foremost, the bathroom felt very dirty. There was visible mold growing in the shower, which is both unsightly and a health concern. Additionally, we found hair stuck on the ceiling of the bathroom, indicating a serious lack of thorough cleaning. This made us uncomfortable and raised questions about the overall hygiene of the hotel. Despite placing a Do Not Disturb sign on our door, a maintenance person entered our room while we were out. This was a significant breach of trust and left us feeling uneasy about the security of our belongings. When we brought these issues to the attention of the manager on site, we were met with indifference. No actions were taken to address our complaints, nor were we offered any form of compensation. Overall, our stay at Hotel Viking was disappointing, and we would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a clean and secure place to stay in Newport. There are likely better options in the area that prioritize guest satisfaction and maintain higher standards of cleanliness and service.

An old Newport icon that is in serious need of an overhaul. We had broken glass on our carpet when we arrived, and the hallways looked like they hadn’t been vacuumed in a while. The baseboards in the hallway were peeling white paint and the chips were on the floor in the hallway. Our bathroom was tiny, as was the shower stall.

I didn’t like that overnight parking was $45. I didn’t know that at the time of making my reservation, otherwise I would have taken that into account as far as price goes. Eventually I was able to find street parking but it took about 45 minutes of driving around. Otherwise the stay was great. Room was nice and staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again.

The hotel is ok , the main building is beautiful (outside) inside is not that pretty ( could be better ) the food at the hotel is delicious I highly recommend the mushroom omelette , the only problem is that they offer you rooms in the building you see in the picture but they send me to an attached building which is horrible from the outside (dated) in other words they lie to you offering a room in a pretty building but send you to another one , when I get to the room the bathtub was clogged so I have to call reception and send me a person to “fix it” next day the bathtub tub was full of water with a lot of debris, including sh***t ,I request a change of room right away but I don’t get any money or discount or anything for that matter at least a breakfast, in the pool the water looks dirty and is not a comfortable place to stay needs renovations etc , the roof bar has the worst music I ever heard in my entire life , the view is ok , they need a good DJ or someone who knows about good music to have a good time there, Brian the front desk manager needs to educate himself about to how be a better manager or someone who deal with customers (his attitude is not the best) oh and please make espresso martini in the way has to be not from a fountain machine I almost die when I see the guy serving that drink in a “4 star hotel “
