The building is old and it seems the operator looks the other way. the AC and fan in my room was out of control and I heard the reception telling people to call down if they couldn't get them working. I called down repeatedly, waited for hours and never got calls back. It feels like they have thrown in the towel and just accept the fact they can't fix it and don't even bother trying. It's a cool building but I am sure there are better places to stay, although the location is excellent.

No restrooms upon arrival (drove 4 hours to get here). 2nd floor restrooms under construction, 1st floor bathrooms locked. There is an extra $25 fee to check you in before 4pm to use restroom in your room. Yet hotel already charged some “destination fee”. The worst part is how staff handles it, considering it’s a 4-stars hotel (no apology or a nice explanation). Tip from me is to use cafe around corner where you can buy coffee and use their facilities. Self parking is $35. Staff try to sell you parking for $34 instead of telling you about street metered parking thats always free during holidays and weekend. The hotel is cozy and clean. We had a very nice suite room with amazing views. Its bathroom could use a renovation, bathtub water doesn't go down but they are charging New York hotel prices. Room is $250 with all fees after I applied $60 or-bucks and insider discount. The bed is extremely comfortable and spacious. No issues with AC. Walkable distance to federal hill where you can eat and the canal that had fire show on n July 4th. Did not feel safe in the area.

this is one of my favorite hotels. Room 834. There were a few things in the room that made me give only 3 stars - no washer on the bathroom sink so every time you turn on the faucet your shirt gets wet. The shower didn't drain well. the windows a bit difficult to operate and the heating and cooling system - there was no way to turn the heat off. If you start letting these things go without fixing them, the place loses integrity. Hope you maintain the property and not let it go. Awesome hotel though!

This is a gorgeously decorated property, located in an area that is convenient to a number of things. The historic nature and choice of design create a very nice first impression. The staff at check in were friendly. The rest of the experience during my stay was not as good as expected. The room was quite large, and again beautifully decorated. However, the bedding was only a sheet and a paper thin blanket. No comforter and a search of the room did not reveal any extra blankets. Solvable by calling housekeeping. What was NOT solvable was the problems with the TV. There was no channel guide in the room - there were no instructions about ANYTHING anywhere in the room that I would consider essential as a guest, like info about the area, spa menu, other amenities, parking, in room dining, etc. I found a rolling guide on the TV itself but the listed channels did not correspond to what appeared when you selected them on the TV. I called the front desk several times for help and received none. The wifi signal was weak and spotty - impossible to use the for streaming or even basic browsing. The coffee set up in the room was poor. Hot water pot and Instant coffee. Enough said... The second night someone came to look at the TV and was completely stumped. In room dining consisted of placing an order at the sports bar in the lobby and going down to pick it up. Ok, but expensive, very mediocre food. No mention that you had to bring a card with you to pay (no room charge possible).

Notified the property before I arrived that I was allergic to feathers/down and my room had 3 of 4 pillows with down. I asked for replacements but none available - finally received an additional down free pillow the next night. Nice hotel - poor management

Nice hotel with history! I like the theme of the hotel with Brown University, the room keys as Student IDs with some famous Brown Alumni. The decorations is warm and the cleanness of the room and public area is wonderful. 2 things though I don’t like : 1) no complimentary coffee which is offered by most of the modern hotels now 2) the parking garage has no direct access to the hotel, you have to get out of garage and cross the street then enter the back door of the hotel( sometimes the door not working) . This is not convenient especially if the weather is bad ( we got rain during the stay). I hope they can build a tunnel or over bridge to connect.

My favorite Providence hotel - warts and all
I love staying at The Graduate - it is my favorite place to stay in Providence. Especially great for families because the rooms are more like suites - with a door on the bedroom - and the actual suites are not much more expensive than the room - with two doors - so it is a true suite with a nice living room (with pullout couch). It just helps to have this option for families and makes staying in a hotel with kids less stressful. That said.... it is a little bit outdated. Our hot water never got hot and one day it wasn't even what I'd call really warm. And, when we turned on the AC it blew hot air, and the walls are thin. So, the neighbors partying was pretty loud (although to be fair they quieted down after 11pm) So...it isn't perfect, but, its worth it to me for the convenience of the suite - and the charm of the decor.

Great room size and location
Although this hotel has a lot of old fashioned charm which I do like in hotels this one needed much sprucing up but being a part of the Graduate chain I do believe they are working on it. The Chipped paint and furnishings weren’t nice to look at but the rugs were like new and spotless. The shower water was luke warm almost cold making it difficult to enjoy. The room was huge and perfectly comfortable for a group of 4 ladies and the large closet came in very handy. Location was perfect for area restaurants, stores and even a beautiful walk aside the river and the University. No need for an Uber we even walked to the Vets Theatre and across town/over bridge to a breakfast joint. Coffee shop in hotel was reasonably priced. The restaurant in hotel was ok. Service was slow. Slider appetizer was good. Bed was comfy, couch and chairs were as well. 2 tvs in room were convenient and parking easily accessible from hotel. Can’t beat the room size.

This resort is “modern vintage.” You can feel its history as it dates back to the 1920s. However, it does have a modern feel to it. Staff was great. Room was spotless. The nod to the local colleges adds a nice touch. Stay here if you’re coming to Providence.

Great property. The room was big and quiet. The restaurant was fabulous and we were able to check in early. My only gripe was the elevators - they took forever and one morning we waited 10 mins and finally used the stairs because 4 had passed us with full cars. Not a deal breaker by anymeans but annoying with luggage when trying to leave.
