We were here for Easter weekend. This was our second year doing this. It was so much fun! We always enjoy the breakfast buffet. There were tons of activities for children including the great Easter egg hunt on Easter morning! The staff are so friendly and accommodating, they are absolutely fantastic. My grandson even got to help place the bunny prints leading to the buffet! He was quite pleased by that. A great weekend was had by all! My only complaint was when we had dinner in the restaurant on Friday evening the buffet didn’t have many gluten friendly options, so I had to order off the menu. My meal took an extremely long time. But when I finally did get my food it tasted great!!
My sister and I took our kids for the March Break festivities. My 17 and 10 year old, and her 13 and 11 year old. Although they stuck mainly to the pool, there was no shortage of things to do for the kids! The staff had many planned activities as well as a scavenger hunt they could partake in. We stayed in one of the suites which had two beds and a pull out couch. There was lots of space for all of us. The only thing that would be good to update is the shower. It had an old style tub with a straight shower curtain rod. The curtain was way too long and my daughter ended up actually tripping on it and pulling it down. No one was hurt and it was easy to put back up, but just something to be careful of. Overall, it is an AWESOME place for a family getaway. And I can't say enough about the staff.
Despite a bit of confusion at various times throughout our 24 hour stay, we were overall pleasantly surprised. The rooms were clean, beds were fairly comfy and the bathroom had adequate towels. If I could offer a suggestion - as a person who isn't familiar with staying in hotels enough to just 'know' how it works, a little direction would have helped tremendously. Check-in was somewhat confusing due to our using a 'third-party' to pay, this seemed to confuse the desk person. We were given an itinerary of sorts, with the time of the activity and the room - but no map or any explanation of what was expected or what to expect. While I understand it is a large facility which accommodates many, I think those families that were there exclusively for the Easter Weekend should have been separated from the rest and the entire weekend of activities should have been mapped out and explained, with time to ask questions for clarification. I found it confusing and frustrating; and as a person with anxiety in social situations, this was not conducive. Aside from needing to be better organized, the facilities are top-notch, the food was delicious and there were certain staff members who went out of their way to accommodate an irrational, anxiety ridden woman who was nearly pushed to her breaking point.
We (myself and my two children ages 8 & 10) booked this hotel for the first Friday of March break. We were lucky enough that a room was available upon our 11am arrival (we were super early). The hotel had many activities planned for the kids for March Break, so there was plenty for the kids to do. In the evening I sat in the lounge and listened to the talent, a one man show who sang and played beautifully on his guitar. My only complaint was that the hot tub was out of service during our stay, and that the meal options were a bit pricey. We ended up spending $70.00 on dinner for 3 of us, a bit steep as the meals were not that special. We will most likely be back again next year though, as the kids truly enjoyed the stay!
Had the opportunity to stay here for a work conference last summer and forgot to review our experience. The food and view from the restaurant dining was excellent and we received great service all weekend. There were lots of things for the kids to do and the grounds were immaculate. Only negative was our room was extremely damp (our room was on level one). There was an error in our billing as well but the appropriate manager was able to sort it out quickly. We will visit again. Thank you staff.
Booked our stay over the March break. It was madness in the best possible way. The hotel was packed with kids, there were lots of activities for the kids which they throughly enjoyed. Meals were always excellent and staff consistently went above and beyond. I witnessed on more than one occasion a staff member being confronted by a rude customer with either ridiculous demands or just obnoxious behaviour and they always handled themselves in a dignified and professional manner. Any requests were met quickly and efficiently, you won’t find better staff anywhere. The live music at night was awesome, enjoyed by both parents and kids. I will say it might be time to replace the hot tub but other than that, a great place for family and friends to come together. We’ve been visiting here for the last three years and will be back again.
My husband usually takes me to this hotel each year for my birthday . Unsure but maybe the fourth or fifth visit. The staff is friendly, helpful and extremely accommodating, trying to make your visit a lovely experience. We wanted to give recognition to several of the staff for their attention to details that we appreciated but really couldn’t locate any available forms. We were told to fill out a Shining Star sheet for staff appreciation. There were none in our room, nor in the gym or pool area but gratefully, Jason at the pub, provided one for us. Maybe these could be placed in rooms and various obvious places. We enjoy the setting very much, pool was great, walking areas plentiful and best of all, the hotel is doggie friendly!💕💕 We asked for a bottom floor room because of the outside entrance and so pleased one was available. Room clean, comfortable but maybe the mattresses were a bit more tired for sleeping than we prefer. Next to upgrade hopefully. Will definitely return!
This hotel is very special to myself and my husband. We have stayed there a few times and we love the service, the food and of course the couples massage at the spa:) the spa staff are so great and inviting. So glad the rooms are carpet free. My only issue with the hotel is that during the summer or peak times you aren’t allowed to stay for only one night! I don’t like being forced to stay for 2 nights minimum during peak times. I have never encountered this rule ever in any other hotel I’ve stayed in. This is an unfair policy. I love this hotel so much and so enjoy our stay... just some food for thought :)
went to atlantica oak island resort for the new year package, decided to go there 2 days ahead for some down time with my wife. Our room was nice and clean and situated in the newest part of the main building with no balcony. They changed the rules and now this is a no smoking resort except at the designated areas (only 2) and not convenient at all, woulld of being nice to know in advance. Lot's of peoples were caught off guard with this, last year could smoke on the balconies but since they upgraded them in the fall, all went to hell. Restaurant food was good and priced right, no entertainment on the weekend unlike last year. New years eve event was fantastic with excellent buffet, same band as last year but they played the same songs plus one new one and seem to cater specific people age wise. Staff is great and go out of their way to help you. Don't think will be going back anytime soon, disappointed about this say. The Avida spa is great by the way, try it won't regret it. Pool, gym and sona were a blessing for relaxation.
Because I lived local for many years I never had opportunity to stay here until recently when a co worker offered me a free voucher for a 1 night stay and breakfast. It was a hectic Christmas so my hunny and I were really looking forward to getting away and enjoying the privacy. Upon booking the hotel was gracious to offer me an oceanview room when I had to reschedule the date; I was delighted and impressed and figured since it was December 29th we were likely to have lots of privacy. We arrived around 4pm and check in was polite and inviting. We could tell that the occupancy was scarce from the parking lot. We were informed that if we wanted supper in the dining room it was best to make a reservation. We were hoping for some evening entertainment in the lounge but as it turns out, it was the one weekend they had none given that New Years was around the corner. We hurried to our room to make our reservation and get ready for the hot tub we had been anticipating on such a cold day. While getting changed a fellow showed up asking if we were missing a lamp; indeed we were so I thanked him and went to plug it in at bedside. This is when we noted there was no plug but rather a old and taped orange outdoor electrical cord to plug into. Needless to say we didn't for safety reason. This is when we also started noticing the stains on the carpets, rips in the wallpaper...just not the dreamy vacation spot I had always imagined it to be. We proceeded to race to the hot tub/pool area only to find out that the hot tub was literally that - a hot tub of water. The jets were not working at all - HUGE disappointment! To compensate we tried to the pool which was colder than an indoor should be. Feeling very disheartened I made comment to my hunny that the meal had better make up for the shortcomings; and it did. I applaud the wait staff and the chef. The supper was lovely and breakfast the next day was the same. I would highly recommend it as a great spot for a nice bite in the area but as for accomodations; not a chance. The area is spectacular so it is a shame that the facility itself was not kept up. On checkout, I was never asked how my stay was - no surprise.
