The hotel was very tidy and clean, warm and friendly. Is centrally located two minutes from Paddington Station, and is only a short train ride from Hethrow airport. The Hotel does serve complimentary breakfreast but it was more cereals than anything. This is why I only gave it four out of five. But Garfunkels is only a two minute walk from the hotel if your looking for that full English breakfast.
The room was better than the average in London: bigger, comfortable, excellent bathroom/shower but noisy because of the tube. Every time there was a tube, it felt like a small earthquake in the room. Otherwise, good location and price, good breakfast and free wifi. Fridge, tea and coffee amenities in the room.
The Dolphin Hotel is less than five minutes from Paddington station and cheap. That was the two reasons I booked the hotel. This is why I've given it three out of five as it did as I asked. But thereafter it goes downhill. I was alone so booked a single occupancy room. My room was below ground level and the stairs to it were steep and narrow, so was fun with a suitcase. I knew in advance my room was small, 12 meter squared. The mattress was soft, the one pillow thin and the room cold. The main light took over 10 seconds to come on which left me floundering in the dark the first couple of times till I learnt to have my phone torch on. The staff were pleasant, but in the two nights I was there I never saw the same face twice. I didn't eat the breakfast as the room was so depressing I had to go out. In short if you want a room with a good location and cheap. Consider the Dolphin Hotel.
Location is great within 3 minutes walking from the train station in a quiet square. The area around has plenty of options to eat and drink in a pleasant area. On arrival I was greeted by a lovely lady who booked me in easily. I had a single room on the 4th floor, she explained there was no lift so was that ok. Being a fit person I said yes. From the breakfast room to the bedroom is 90+ steps so if you are not very active ask for a floor lower down. Doing the climb twice a day on my 3 day stay was enough. The room was clean with a lovely view over the square. Only two faults are if you want a shower you need to run the shower a good 5 minutes for hot water to come through. Also when you take the plug out of the sink there is a nasty smell so it could do with some disinfectant down it. The breakfast is very basic but you are paying basic prices. Overall for the money I found it very good value and would not hesitate to return, maybe next time a little closer to the ground.
On arrival staff were very friendly and helpful. They put us in a room which wasnt what I had reserved... It had two single beds and I had booked a double bed. They changed us to another room immediately however it was just two single beds pushed together. The room was small and basic with a very small bathroom that has a very noisy fan! Get use to peeing in the dark! Breakfast was very basic and over crowded. We had to share our table with two others and table wasn't very big. No one in the breakfast room seemed to speak English. Its good if all you need is somewhere to sleep. We stayed here so we could visit Winter wonderland at Hyde Park but this is quite a walk!
First of all there is no lift in the hotel. Room is not warm at all during winter and the heater in the room is not working. Very small rooms to stay. WiFi is not working. Breakfast is good. Receptionists and maids were friendly though.
I would recommend the hotel to all my friends I have been many times when iam in London. The hospitality is so friendly. Very clean. The staff are very friendly. Especially the lady who supervise the room. What a lovely service I always get. Definitely my hotel when I come to London. Good location in the heart of London. I will be back soon with my friends
The people on reception were extremely friendly and helpful. We had a large room, no view, as we were on the ground floor, but we didn't expect one, and it's Padington, so what do people want? Breakfast was basic, but we had a very cheap deal, so we were more than happy. Bed was very comfortable, linen was very good quality. Lovely shower, Wifi is best in reception, there was a bit of noise, as a large group of foreign students appeared, but quiet at night. The breakfast room is SMALL, so you may have to wait a few minutes for a table, unless you are an early riser.
Location is excellent, very near Paddington station - which saved us, because there was a strike of underground staff the day we were supposed to leave, but we had Heathrow Express tickets. Only a few months before, I spent a couple of nights at another Norforlk Square hotel (they're all along both sides of the square). The Dolphin was way better than that one in every way. It's an old building with no elevator - be prepared. Staff are nice and polite. The balcony looks pretty attractive, but we kept out of it - and the door locked - because it was dirty and way too accessible from neighboring guest rooms. A pity. Internet access was good. Breakfast was predictably simple, but not bad.
Very nice hotel with young nice staff. Rooms were nice with private bathroom on the ground floor. Everything is very close to it so no need to think if you have forgotten something. Main station is only 500 meters away, 24h market is in 100 meters away, very god location. I have not see other rooms but the one they gave me on the ground floor was super. I will go again.
