The hotel is very nice overlooking the Norfolk square garden, 1 minute walk from Paddington station,, friendly clean hotel, nice service, poor breakfast but still fine. Many hotels next to each other in the same building. You receive more than what you pay for :) i would definitely come back...
The hotel was very conveniently located about 100 m from the subway entrance. Old house, converted to hotel. We made a mistake with booking, but the staff accommodated us very kindly. Rooms are clean, beds OK, good showers. Breakfast is OK, but that's it. All in all, friendly staff, reasonable place to spend the night, not stay for longer.
The location of the hotel is very good, just a few minutes walk from Paddington station. It's a very basic hotel, but reasonably clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good. There's no elevator, so if you have luggage it can probably get interesting to drag it up to the third or fourth floors.
Great welcome from the Greek receptionist and speedy check-in. Location is perfect just a stone's throw from Paddington station and in a peaceful, quiet square away from all the pubs and restaurants near the station. Room was comfortable , squeaky clean and the shower was excellent, i had room 161. The toilet made a gurgling noise after flushed but i soon got used to it. Breakfast was great, full English included in the price and lovely brown bread toast.... my only criticism would be the coffee machine which didnt make the best cappuccino but i suppose you can't always get Italian quality coffee when in the UK, I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great value for money hotel near Paddington station and underground.
good position, the view to the Norfolk park was very pleasant, the room was very clean, very good room service. Easy internet connection. Excellent staff, helpful, polite, I felt wonderful all the week in Dolphin hotel.
Stayed here on my own in july then twice in sep with my partner as we were attending event at Wembley stadium & were travelling from wales.this is ideal location. We lived in london till 8mths ago so know the area very well. Hotel is ideally situated.lovely clean comfy beds.breakfast room is perfectly clean/hygienic very helpful friendly staff Secure safe room to leave your bags after check out if needed as we did both all our stays till.later that evening when it was time to catch our train home. We are planning on staying here again several times next yr & possibly a couple more later this yr
I booked a single economy room and was initially appalled at the first look of my room. It was located at the basement, one floor down from the lobby, via a narrow staircase. The room was sparse and small - no wardrobe except for a drawer chest and a huge overhanging cabinet high above the bed - you need to be able to climb up to put anything there! Not surprisingly, the bathroom/toilet was also miniscule - though not a problem for a petite person like me. The window opened out to some sort of an airwell but there was a ladder leading to the roof which made me nervous leaving the window opened - anyone can easily climb in. The floorboards creaked and I could hear and feel the trains as they rumbled by. Walls were also thin and I could even hear my neighbour snoring in the quiet hours of the morning! I was contemplating to upgrade to a better room but then changed my mind - on the positive side, the room was clean, the bed comfortable and I could sleep well through the night. And I hardly spend much time in the room anyway ! So I made the best out of it and with the money saved, gave myself a treat to the wonderful "Wicked" musical. Location of the hotel is great - just a few steps away from Paddington Station where you can easily hop onto either Heathrow Express or Connect train to the airport. Breakfast is also good (included in my room package) although the breakfast room is small and fills up quickly - you may need to come back again if there is no table available. Staff is friendly and try their best to help - they are mostly immigrants from Eastern Europe, so English is not their first language; patience is the name of the game. I find this hotel good value for money and will not mind staying here again.
I stayed at the Dolphin for three nights, September 17-20. It´s an okay hotel, nothing fancy, but you get what you pay for. I had a single room, which was very small, but I didn´t need any more. When beeing in London, I don´t wish to sit in a hotelroom more than I have to. The thing with the room I liked the best, was that I didn´t have any neighbours. The staircase to the third floor went in one direction, whilst I had to climb a few stairs in the other direction to get to my room. The room had what´s needed for a short stay-over. The breakfast was served in a room in the basement. Again, you get what you pay for. No extravaganzas, but you can get a full english if you pay extra. Overall, it was a nice stay in a vicinity well worth visiting, though not the trendiest part of the city.
This has to represent the best value for money in London. Very central but reasonably quiet, helpful staff and pound for pound a super cheap hotel. We stayed two nights and if all that you want to do is sleep, (and why would you want to spend any time in a room if you were in London?) then this is great. Sure it's got limited facilities, no lift, a bit cramped in places and the decor is a bit tired but it's clean and secure for little more than the cost off a hostel. We will certainly stay again.
I've given five stars, not because its a 5 star hotel, but because I got what expected. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. It was a great location. I will say we did have excess noise from the room upstairs, but that's not the hotels fault, but maybe if you're a light sleeper bring ear plugs just in case. You can also hear the tube going under, but again not hotels fault. Breakfast was basic, but enough choice and I didn't leave hungry and there is an option to upgrade to cooked breakfast. I would recommend based on price and location.
