Stayed here a few times now as we have family here always booked double room which have been lovely so this time we decided to treat ourselves and upgrade to a crown room - don’t bother paying the extra, the double rooms are so much better! We arrived and checked in and we were given a very small room next to the restaurant which was hosting a party so was extremely noisy, we went straight back to reception to see about a move we were given another room at the other end of the hotel. The room was nice but definitely not worth the upgrade we had much better rooms just booking the double room option! The room was really noisy we were up early due to the noise so got ready went to breakfast just to find the que just to enter the restaurant extremely long and not moving. One lady even went to reception to enquire what was happening? Eventually we were seated but the staff were so rushed they couldn't cope with the the turn around- think they need a few more staff on! Fallen out of love with this venue think we need to look for another place to stay when visiting the family.
Visited for their bangers and mash night, before the Blackheath fireworks. Was not what I expected! It was way way better! Expected to chose a sausage flavour and a mash flavour, but instead had a fab buffet of all the sausages, mash, beans and gravy. And you can go up for seconds!! I left walking like a barrel, as the food was great!! The only negative... the GF was disappointed with the veggie sausages, as expected a protein type Saus, and they were more basic peas sweet corn etc in mash, moulded to sausage shape and fried. That said, we are still looking forward to doing it again next year!!
It was ok. The lift did not go to the floor I was on, so I had to drag my case up some stairs. The bed was uncomfortable and I was kept awake all night with the sound of traffic and fireworks. The towels are too small. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were lovely and very helpful.
We held our daughters birthday party at the Hotel and cannot recommend this place highly enough. The Hotel were very accommodating and the staff particularly attentive to our needs. Thoroughly recommended.
Excellent service, breakfast has everything a guest could want. Welcoming and always helpful Staff. I have stayed at the Clarendon several times and have never been disappointed. Will certainly be my choice of London hotel in future. And, to make things even better, Blackheath is a lovely place to visit. Food in the bar was also excellent.
Hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff where very friendly. The bed was wary confutable and the room was quite. The rooms at the front overlook Blackheath and the breakfast was excellent. We fund it very god value.
The corridors and bedrooms are in need of refurbishment. Furniture old and poor quality. Breakfast items on continental area not replenished and very limited bread section. This hotel does not live ip to its appearance.
Lovely hotel in a beautiful village. We enjoyed our 3 nights stay in Clarendon Hotel and will surely recommend this place for our London visiting friends. Room was a bit out dated but good breakfast and helpful and nice staff compensated this minor lack.
Fantastic hotel room and staff great would recommend will book again if and when going to London And would recommend to anyone who needed a first class hotel to stay in and Staff where first class too.thank you
My boyfriend and I stayed here last Christmas and because I told the hotel staff it was our anniversary, we were upgraded to a bigger and better room with complimentary chocolates and free drinks on arrival. This time round, I booked last minute to come up and see friends for the Blackheath fireworks. The service, atmosphere, food, room, decor was completely different. My tiny dingy bedroom was room 244. The windows didn’t shut properly so I was cold and heard the fireworks go on all night, my bed was very noisy so every time I moved an inch the bed would creek, I could hear people having sex/stomping around above me, the bathroom light kept flickering on and off without even going near it and over all the bedroom was very bog standard! The worst part was after coming back at 10:30pm from the fireworks and drinks with friends, I went to the bar and ordered a smoked salmon, creme fresh and rocket sandwich which the staff said they were still serving. I asked for it to be taken upto my room as I was exhausted and didn’t want to hang around by the bar. Ten minutes later my sandwich arrived - when I looked in my sandwich, to my annoyance and disappointment, there was no creme fresh or rocket - only what looked like the dregs of the last bit of salmon. I rung down to Reception to complain that I only got half of what I ordered and was in the menu, the guy on the phone told me he’ll look into finding out who was responsible for this crappy sarnie and get back to me. Fifteen minutes later, when I’m still staring at this pathetic sandwich which cost £6 and still no phone call from Reception. I then call them back extremely frustrated and tired - and hungry! The guy told me that the chef had gone home so the NIGHT PORTER made my sandwich!!!! Apparently he didn’t know how to make it so he improvised?!?!? They then bring me a whole lemon, a steak knife and some sachets of mayonnaise. What an absolute joke for someone paying £99 for the night, and that was a last minute discount deal! The breakfast was good but there were ques of people in line waiting for a table and they didn’t look best pleased. It’s better to go down for breakfast before 9am if you want to avoid waiting in line for 10 minutes!!!! Won’t be going back!!!!!
