The Rookery is an old beautiful hotel. The interior was lovely! After staying at three previous places in England, we were surprised that breakfast was not included in the high prices and also each item of water or tea, etc was also an itemized charge. The location was a little loud at night with the neighborhood bu8t seemed safe.

FABULOUS old place. The staff was helpful and hospitable, the place is beyond charming, and Bagheera the library cat is an excellent host.

Wonderful staff that does anything you need with pleasure. They make their guests feel so special. . MY father did not like the no shower bath only in our two rooms, but got changes to a tub with a small curtain around it and head above to keep the water in the tub.

A period hotel done extremely well. The service is beyond compare. The entire staff was very kind and always helpful. A pinnicle hotel experience for myself. Thank you Rookery!

It is a lovely, quaint, historic little hotel, but also very comfortable. It feels like a quiet little oasis in a bustling city.

Great ambiance, fantastic staff and obv a great location

Loved the conservatory, oil paintings, and true London feel.

excellent botique hotel with enough services & extremely friendly & HELPFUL STAFF. The area is interesting with very good food & pub choices. My wife really liked it.

I enjoyed everything about the hotel. It's a small hotel so if you want a gym and a restaurant then look elsewhere. On the other hand you are surrounded by restaurants so it should be more of an opportunity than a problem. My only problem was that I had too little time to enjoy the hotel and the area before it was time to go home

The room was smaller than it appeared online, but the hotel was cute. The location is very nice--in a very cute, walkable neighborhood a block away from Farringdon station.

Everything about this hotel is elegant and charming. From the extremely courteous reception staff to the spacious and beautifully adorned rooms, the entire experience was delightful. We stayed in the Dr Theopolus Garencieres suite which had a tub unlike any I've ever seen; but, it seems that every room has it's own distinct personality and I doubt there's a stinker in the bunch. Wether they were delivering tea to the room or providing directions, the service staff were always very pleasant and accommodating. It felt like we had a team of butlers on call. The surrounding area came alive Saturday night with after-hour nightclubs and restaurants, but during the day it felt more like a neighborhood than a city. Clerkenwell, itself, has an interesting past worth investigating. For touring other parts of London, a tube stop is just a short block from the hotel which was great until the weekend. It appears that London is sprucing up for the Olympics and Farringdon station was closed for improvements the Saturday and Sunday we were there. There was no obvious indication about how long the improvements would take, but there are other tubes within walking distance so it was a minor inconvenience during our otherwise fantastic stay. The Rookery isn't a bargain monetarily, but if you're looking for a unique experience in a refined atmosphere, it's a great deal!

18th century hotel but updated to modern standards. Full of antiques and it was just gorgeous. Staff was great, very friendly. The lounges were comfortable and beautiful. Loved this hotel except for the fact there was no shower, only bathtubs with those handheld shower things. We got water all over the floor trying to take a shower. Still I loved the hotel and would recommend it. Very near Farringdon Station tube. Didn't eat there due to time constraints.

Exceptional service, charming rooms and a friendly cat.

A delightful change of pace from impersonal hotels with cookie-cutter decor, this has the cozy feel of a private club (old-fashioned tub, velvet draperies, antique furniture), with the conveniences of modern living (thick towels, good water pressure, lovely continental breakfast served in the room). It's well worth going a bit off the beaten track to stay here.

A great hotel, good location but limit your stay to weekdays due to the noisy drinking crowds that gather on Friday & Sat nights in the area around this hotel.
