I've stayed here a few times now and the service provided at check in is always helpful, there is also a convenient shuttle service which goes to Canary Wharf not that the hotel is far from the DLR. The rooms are spacious and well furnished, with very comfortable bed, and the fact that there is a "Sleep Kit" containing lavender pillow spray etc is a nice addition. The food in the restaurant was very tasty, and I would highly recommend the fish and chips if you get the chance. However, the service was a bit slower than I would have liked. Another small downside was that in the morning when I made use of the pool facilities, that the steam room/sauna was a bit cooler than I would have liked. Over all a very good hotel which I would definitely stay at again in the future.
Perfect location for going to o2 for concert! Jump on the emirates cable cars. The hotel was very clean and the service in the hotel was great. Only negative feedback was the cleaners making so much racket around you
Quick 1 night stay mid December. We paid extra for breakfast and it was defiantly worth the extra. Must say it was one of the nicest buffet breakfasts I’ve had. Staff were really friendly, rooms were nice, couldn’t really fault the hotel at all. *****
Stayed at the hotel for the weekend. Location is good with the dlr just behind. The Emirates cable cars are just opposite the hotel. Rooms are very cosy. Everything was upto standard. Room had a bath.
Average hotel, average room. Beds very good, but that’s what you’d expect. Bathroom dated for a five star, low power shower. Complaints: I was awoken rudely at 8 o clock (had ordered breakfast at 9:30). The housekeeper was accusing me of ordering too much from the breakfast cart! I was confused until she sheepishly came back and said she had the wrong room. There went my lie in and my kids were woken up too. I paid for 2 days parking (luckily I kept the receipt) but they didn’t put it through and I got a parking fine in the post! Apparently they’re sorting it, let’s see. They charge £5 every time you order food to the room. If the hotel was nicer ok. But it was average. Over priced. Not a luxury stay place, more for a business trip when you can expense everything.
We booked a queen room and the size was adequate for what we paid for. However, we were quite surprised to have dirty towels and flannels left in the room on our arrival so we asked for fresh towels, which we got, but the old ones were never taken away! Also, there were a couple of stains on the room carpet which wasn't very nice and the room was EXTREMELY warm. When we ordered a glass of champagne, it was warm, so we asked for a new glass and that too was warm, they just couldn't grasp what we were saying I think. Other things noted were litter in and around the lift area of our floor, dirty tables in the bar area and a sticky floor as well. All these things add up to an average stay and being a Gold IHG member, I would expect more from a well established chain of hotels! It's a shame as I would have considered staying again in the future, but I think I'll try elsewhere if ever going back to a concert at The O2.
We just visited the Crowne Plaza for a one night getaway. We were given a dock view room which we appreciated at check in which was also friendly and fast. The room was a nice sized deluxe room, we were given several complimentary bottles of water as well as the usual tea/coffee facilities and biscuits. The bathroom had a shower only and The White Company branded toiletries. This took me by surprise as the IHG branded hotels does not go for branded shampoos etc not even the Intercontinental chain of hotels as I stayed in one earlier in the year. The hotel has parking that costs £18 per night and they have plenty of spaces and in/out privileges. There is also a car park next door to the hotel which is actually a couple of pounds cheaper for its 24 hours rate. The location of the hotel is good. There is a DLR line behind the hotel and the cable car across the road that takes you to the O2. There are several restaurants nearby and other places to eat including a food cart just opposite the hotel. The hotel has a small pool, sauna and gym. We also had breakfast as part of our room package which was enjoyable including cook to order omelettes. The only negative was that the hotel had boiler problems during our stay. This meant that we could not have a hot shower, it was lukewarm at best, even the temperature of the pool was a bit on the cold side.
It was five years ago that I last visited this hotel, and gave it a five-star review. We had no hesitation, therefore, in booking it again for our recent one-night break in London. The seat cushions in the reception area were looking a little more threadbare than five years ago, but our welcome was still warm, and we looked forward to settling in to our luxurious accommodation after a weary day's travel. But we were in for a few disappointments. Instead of the sweeping panorama over the Royal Victoria dock basin we had eagerly anticipated, our room this time looked out onto the blank walls of nearby buildings. Worse, it was located on the sixth floor, which is currently in the throes of building work. The corridor carpets were covered in plastic sheeting, and the ceiling panels were missing, to reveal a mass of cables, pipes and wires reminiscent of a set from an episode of Dr Who. Eager workmen scuttled hither and thither, and step ladders and tool boxes made negotiating the 85 steps to the door of our room something of an obstacle course. Our room, though much smaller than last time, and lacking the stunning views, was at least well equipped, even down to some scented drops to put on your pillow to give a good night's sleep. (Didn't work, sadly - the pillows, even when thoroughly scented, were far too uncomfortable.) The central heating/air conditioning being under repair, a space heater had been supplied to boost the room's temperature. The en-suite, I am delighted to report, was squeaky clean, and sported a full-length bath. However, as we were on the top floor, the water pressure was lamentable, and it took twenty minutes to run a bath to the modest depth of six inches. These disappointments aside, our stay was pleasant, and the food at breakfast was excellent, with ample choice. The Crowne Plaza is still a good choice for visiting the City, with the DLR just across the road, and a cable-car now available to cross the docks for the 02 in style. The hotel has a pool, sauna and gym, all free to be enjoyed by guests. I would stay here again...as long as my room is not on the sixth floor next time, and the approach to it is no longer through a building site.
Stayed to celebrate an occasion. The complimentary use of amenities was the cherry on top of our lovely stay! The room was clean and lovely, everything you'll need is there for you - even cookies! The front desk staff are all friendly and welcoming too It was near the Royal Victoria cable car station, which we used to go to O2 arena and roam around. Breakfast was nice and chilled, the f&b staff gives out such good vibes in the morning just what everybody needs! Surely a recommendable hotel! Will come back again.
Work in progress, didn't expect this!! No warning like a building site and cold. Hoping the manager will apologise our stay is very very disappointing to say the least. group of young lads in the bar swearing not nice with children about. waiting to see what breakfast is like
