I loved the ethos of this hotel: relaxed, trusting, aesthetically Mexican with DELICIOUS chocolate and hot sauce in the room as guest gifts. Help yourself to high quality tea and coffee in the guest lounge. An honesty log for drinks from the bar. L'Occitane soap in the bathroom. Lovely staff. I chose the most economic room - a small single with shared bathroom (handbasins in all bedrooms) and can honestly say it is the best place I have ever stayed in London. Great restaurants all around in Camberwell Green, as well.

Didn't expect a hotel room to be so small. Had to walk sideways to get past the TV and edge of wrought iron bed. Same thing to get into the bathroom. TV wouldn't work. Phoned reception about this, they said they would come up but didn't. Bathroom was recently refurbished. Nice toiletries, L'Ocataine. Our room on 2nd floor. Very narrow steep staircase and dam difficult to get heavy suitcases up there. Once in room, no space to put suitcases except on floor which took up valuable space in the room. The hotel has a dining, lounge area with a bar which is self service and based on an honesty system. Nice pastries are available there in the morning, purchased on honesty system. Helpful staff. Building is an old Georgian villa, refurbished to South Americian decor throughout. Breakfast available

Best custom service I've encountered so far. Very nice staff especially Monica at reception, she was very helpful. The hotel is in good location, shops and restaurants are very close. I definitely recommended this place.

This hotel was booked by my work and my overall verdict is I would not stay here again. Good points: There was a great selection of tea of coffee and breakfast wasn't bad (still not worth what they charge). Good location for Kings Hospital. I think a double ensuite room here is a good option as from I saw they were a good size and nicely decorated. Bad Points: I was given a single room which was very small!! And shared bathroom facilities. The small bathroom across the hall was basic, they say they provide l'occitane toiletries but they're not what you expect and it did not have a pleasant smell. I was not given fresh towels so I had to keep going down and asking. The hairdryer they gave me did not work, they gave me another one but they're so flimsy it didn't do much. The WIFI speed was not up to scratch for a hotel in London especially if your there for work purposes. Lastly, the walls are very thin so you can hear the people in the next room pretty easily, luckily I had ear plugs.

Small, but everything you need. Stayed in a room with a double bed, everything clean and an amazing breakfast. Nice hotel staff. Next metro station is oval, 20 min per bus. Lovely decorated. In the neighbourhood you can find everything you need.

Nice hotel, perfect location if you are visiting the KCL Denmark hill campus. Nice common area with wifi and tea/coffee. A lot of stairs though, so request a room on low floors if you dont want to go up stairs. Lots of buses into central london close by

Fantastic place to stay in a great, walkable neighborhood. Beautiful little hotel with a really good pub and a felafel place on the same block. They offer free fresh ground coffee and a wide selection of tea, with pastries offered at the honor bar. Several little coffee and pastry shops are nearby so I opted for that instead of the breakfast (optional add-on to your room rate) on offer at the hotel (which smelled delicious). My daughter lives nearby so we met for breakfast every morning. They have a great common room where you can sit and plan your day, or just relax and read a paper, have a drink at the honor bar. My only negative is that at my second stay in a single en-suite, the single bed was awful, it really needs to be replaced. I asked to be moved and they were able to accommodate this request the next day. I would recommend this place.

Hi - booked last minute 2 night stay whilst I had 3 days of day treatment at Kings College Hospital (5 mins walk away)(but too far for me to commute) Quirky, immaculately clean, a real find here in Denmark Hill/Camberwell. I had single room with shared bathroom. All I could get last minute. Was dreading the shared bit..but at least I had my own sink. All went well. Sweet attic room, up 5 short flights stairs and facing the main road, but again, I don't expect peace in South London and guessed the singleton rooms would be in the eves. 4' wide bed, beautiful linen and towels and L'Occutaine toiletries. Organic chocs and chilli sauce (!) Honesty bar and free organic tea coffee etc, all beautifully neat and clean in The Communion Bar (!) Wacky South American Religious themed..just made me smile. So whilst I hope never to need to use this hotel again for a hospital stay, if I had to, I'd re book in an instance.

Location was great for us as my daughter just moved in around the corner - the hotel is quirky and different - in a good way:) The staff are lovely, helpful and friendly - its is a maze of different corridors and staircases but the rooms are well appointed and clean. The Latin American themed hotel is unusual and great in its design and decor. If you have any mobility issues be sure to let them know on booking as it can be a long way up and along to your room . We literally only slept there but enjoyed the lovely touches in the room L'Occitane toiletries, little bars of chocolate and a notebook and pencil with a note from the maid inside. This is not luxury but different and unusual . We had an issue with our room but it was dealt with in a pro-active way and efficiently :) We will be back :)

When I first checked in, the receptionist made a mistake and made me pay twice the whole price of the stay which I did not get the refund added to my balance yet because it is an international transaction, no breakfast, no kettle or tea in the room only in the communion room, the TV did not work properly. The toiletries were not replaced until I had to ask for it The underground is not near. At the check out I forgot the cash deposit of 20 pounds and nobody reminded me to take it. In short the worst stay.
