I totally understand why Four Seasons deflagged this hotel. Nothing wrong with the physical infrastructure of hotel, but to be a Five Star hotel you can’t totally whiff on the service side. A few examples, four unanswered calls to concierge desk and finally i called front desk directly. I asked if I could rent a vehicle at Canary Wharf and the answer was “ i don’t know”, but I was encouraged when they said they would call me back with info. Ten minutes later I get a call back saying that “ No I can’t rent a vehicle” on Canary Wharf, but no follow up on where it might be possible to rent a vehicle. Example 2. Called nonexistent concierge desk and again after no answer, I called front desk to ask about restaurants. Since it was a Sunday night, I suspected that not many restaurants would be open. So we called to get an idea of where we might be able to eat, and we were told the hotel restaurant was open. I thanked person and asked about what other choices and the answer was “i don’t know.” Example 3. Asked front desk where closest ATM machine might be and the answer “probably somewhere in the mall”. To be a five star hotel, you need above average service and attention to detail and this hotel fails miserably on the service front.
We had another great stay here! The service is always excellent, the rooms are quiet and have everything you would need, and the bar is a great place to get drinks/hangout. I used the Virgin Active gym (which is complimentary for guests) most days we were there and having previously lived in London can say that this is one of the best facilities on offer. We will keep coming back!
In Canary Wharf, this is probably the best hotel. The Marriott building is more modern but there is no swimming pool there. If you like to take a swim in the morning or after work, this is your only choice in the area. The service is great. Staff is very friendly. It's no longer part of Four Seasons. So there is not much reward for being a loyal customers. For example, I can always get upgrade and nice breakfast for free at Marriott. So value-wise it's not the best
We were booked in for the Teaching Awards and decided to stay the day before too. Lovely hotel. Staff couldn’t do enough for us and as we were upgraded and on 8th floor our suite was fab with amazing views. Definitely stay again.
A twin room on the 5th floor. Amazing view of London. Plenty of room to move about in. Lovely size bed which 3 people could sleep and still have room. Room service was quick It added to fantastic experience
I booked this hotel as I was in town for an interview so thought I would make the most of my time and see the views. The hotel is clean, the rooms a good size and the bed was comfortable. Worth mentioning the staff were professional and helpful
We had a birthday to attend at Poplar Marina, and looking for somewhere with good reviews and close to our function. Quite often one persons review is totally different to another! I would have to say this hotel is one of the best finds. While not in Central London, it is easily accessible by train, road and water. Our greeting by the Duty Manager was impeccable, the concierge parking the car was professional and the wait staff not only in the evening but at breakfast, were friendly, courteous and informative. It was one of the best sleeps we've had in an hotel, and while we understand that during the week, it is a very busy business hotel, our experience on a weekend was wonderfull.
Retuned to stay again at the Canary Riverside Plaza in Canary Wharf and it remains still the best view of London. Great service, great food and amazing swimming pool. Great shopping centre and restaurants close by and easy access to west end.
We had a great time celebrating my husbands birthday. Thanks to the Chef for making a very delicious treat at no extra charge. Will be back next year. The views were amazing and the room and shower were excellent.
Just spent a lovely weekend for my birthday, the hotel was wonderful the staff were very attentive nothing too much trouble. I was lucky enough to have been treated to a suite with views across the river absolutely fabulous. Would highly recommend.
