Moxy London Excel

3.5 out of 5.0

I was expecting more when reading reviews ... Hotel is indeed funky and staff is friendly but rooms are extremely small, there is a lot of noise from a close by airport and hotel guests and breakfast is poor. Check in/out was very fast. Location is good only if you are heading to ExCel or City airport. Tube station is also close by but it will take some time to get to the city’s major attractions and at lest one change of a tube line.

Impeccably clean! Staff beyond welcoming and helpful! Great price. Good food. Right on the DLR line and easy to get into the city. Highly recommend! Staff were able to explain how to get to rail line and places to eat.

We stayed here after flying into London City airport. It is a 15 minute march from the airport along busy roads. The room for one night was expensive for the size of room and no breakfast. We paid £230, however it was very very cheap to extend our stay by one night. The room had a shower, double bed and a TV. No wardrobe and limited space - because of the location the view is of another hotel car park, although this is more of a stopping over night hotel than a destination hotel. The hotel is quirky and I really liked that. Funny messaging, notice boards and pictures kept the theme of the hotel going. We had two events to go to; Hugh Jackman at the O2 and lunch in central London. The transport was easy. It is a 3/4 minute walk to Royal Albert which is on the DLR and 4 stops away from Canning Town where you can connect to the Jubilee line which goes to North Greenwich in one stop (the O2) and central London (Bond Street) is another 8 stops on from that. Access is easy to London. There are lots of spaces to work in the entrance/bar area and the wifi was easy to use. No data needed, just a quick tick of a box. We had some bar snacks - nachos and potato wedges. Very tasty and there are sandwiches, drinks and other buffet snacks to buy if you want. There aren't restaurants or shops near by so it is either hotel buying or a walk/DLR to somewhere nearby. I will definitely be back when flying from London City.

The hotel was great value and close to the Excel centre. As you would expect from a chain it is the same as other Moxy hotels. Clean, fresh and quite basic. The room was comfortable with a good selection of TV channels

What can we say - location good - everything else exceedingly poor. This is the Ryanair equivalent of a hotel and playing a looped video, non stop, in the bar telling their guests how 'hip' they are doesn't make it so! Neither does putting a bed or a beer pong table in the bar.

Great bed, great bedding, great shower, a good bar and all at a very very low price, astonished, expected real budget but received good quality.Impressed. Niggled at price and quality of breakfast but at the room price that was pretty irelevent I guess

My friend and I booked this hotel for our weekend at MCM London comic con at the Excel and it didn't disappoint. We arrived and checked in where we received complimentary cocktails. Staff offered to help carry our bags and were always polite and happy to answer our questions. The room was very clean and the nearby DLR and airport didn't disturb us at all- only the 1am fire alarm caused by a fellow guest showering with the bathroom door open, although that's not the fault of the hotel! Tea and coffee is downstairs, not in the rooms, but you're allowed to take it upstairs and a range of food is available too. Will definitely use this hotel again!

Stayed for one night with friends, made a mistake when booking and staff couldn’t be more helpful! They went out of their way to assist me and all with a smile - it really makes a difference and people are this kind. Fantastic crew would highly recommend the hotel!

We stayed 3 days in this hotel. Rooms are clean and staff was really friendly and helping when my wife needed to go to the hospital when she was sick. Breakfast was also fine. Super hotel to book again next visit in London.

A Moxy never disappoints. It was very clean, familiar, easy, comfortable, relaxing and just what we needed. It’s no frills and functional. Literally 5 mins from the airport by Uber and right next to the dlr for a quick trip into the city if it takes your fancy. Would always recommend a Moxy.
