Eco Tree Hotel Causeway Bay3.5 out of 5.0

I decided to stay here after checking out the reviews. Here are the good parts: 1. Hotel is newly renovated in late 2018. So it is relatively new. 2. Service is good. Staffs are polite and accommodating. 3. Location is OK. Lots of eateries around. About 5-7mins walk to Tin Hau MTR (not Causeway Bay!). But still walkable to the shopping district in CWB through Victoria Park. 4. Good price. Here are the not so good part: 1. Room is small (but as with most in HK). There is no wardrobe, just 4 hangers and a coat hanger. 2. Toilet is small. 3. Wall is quite thin (also seem to be with most in HK). I can faintly hear neighbour’s TV sound through the wall. 4. SMALL gym. Given the pricing, location, I still think it is decent place to stay.
I was here recently & stayed at 22nd floor for 3 nights. Room was very clean, comfortable and bigger than I thought! Very comfortable sleeps as this hotel is not on the main street, so it's not too noisy. The room is pretty much fully equipped with a mini fridge, heater (for winter season), hangers for clothings (no closet). Bed & pillows are very comfy but it’s a little too high rise for elderly folks. There’s no cafeteria or bar in this hotel but there’s 7-11 down the street & opposite there's a small supermarket that operates till early night. There’re plenty of eateries around this area so do not worry. The nearest MRT station is Tin Hau station that is on the left of the hotel at the traffic light (*right is Causewaybay Wet Market) all the way up, it’s diagonally across Sister Wah Beef Noodles restaurant about 8 minutes walk. Special thanks to the hotel staff for the surprise birthday for my buddy upon our arrival, the birthday card is so beautiful! We’ll definitely be back for our future trips.
We had a chance to stay in Hong Kong for 1 night only and asked for an advice from local friends about the area. Some of them recommended me to stay around Causeway bay and we chose this hotel. The hotel itself was new and very comfortable. The room was big enough for 2 of us with a big suitcase. (Only negative thing was a smell in the bathroom, I think it was coming from the bath drain). We took a airport bus to the hotel, the bus stop was #18 and only a couple of minutes walk to the hotel. Many many local shops and restaurants around the hotel and close to the Times Square Hong Kong. We walked on the way, used subway on the way back. Breakfast was in a restaurant next door, not many selections but just what we needed. Highly recommended!
If you're looking for a place on Hk Island, I would recommend this place. Clean and comfy, may be a little pricey but if you're travelling with kids or older generation it will be more comfortable. Location, a few minutes walk from tram Station and also about 8 minutes walk to the nearest MTR (Tin Hau Station). Getting around is fairly easy, and one can find many choices of food around the area. Pros: - chic boutique hotel - clean and very airy - rooms are considered very spacious in HK terms - in room slippers!!! Love it when the hotel cares, and they give new ones everyday after housekeeping - facilities are provided: water bottles, kettles, smart TV (although a bit slow), 2 comfy pillows per person - hotel WiFi was down so the reception gave us free SIM CARDS (8 days worth), this was totally unexpected and worth every compliment - was a coffee machine in the lobby for free drinks Cons: - only comment, the bathroom is very small but it is understandable -
Hotel was very modern and clean. The rooms and bathrooms were comfortable and the staff were helpful when needed. The location for us was very good but it’s in the Tin Hau district and not Causeway Bay which it states on the website. You can still easily walk into central areas though and there are plenty of cafes, stores and restaurants on the doorstep! It lacks a communal meeting place/ restaurant/ bar and you are given vouchers for the breakfast next door in a cafe. The standard of this breakfast is far below that of the hotel which is a real shame. We had it the first morning and went elsewhere for the other 6 days.
We stayed here for 3 nights post a 14-night cruise. Picked it for the location as it was close to so many restaurants in the Tin Hau area. Only a few blocks from the Tin Hau MTR station. Hotel is new and everything was very clean. Only 2 elevators and one was out of service on 2 of the 3 mornings. (We believe for the cleaning staff) Very friendly check-in staff and the Wi-Fi was good in our room. The TV selection was poor. It showed much more on a channel page but these were not available. There was free coffee in the lobby but we never used it but saw lots of people who did.
2/17th checked in this front desk girl straight face all the way the bad smell from the toilet no one can stand so i called for a room change her attitude and bad manner made me wanted to write on here to share with all of you i didn’t get a wifi password so i called again her voice over the phone can’t be more obvious how she is annoyed excuse me, is this my problem that caused your toilet smell you want to sleep like surrounded by sewage if you would like to enjoy a bad toilet smell that indeed will gross you out and bad service plz be their guest
The place is tucked in Mercury St. which is not exactly a major road so some may have a harder time looking for it. The place is quaint. We got the Superior room with "quuen bed" which is actually 2 single beds joined together. So the room looks a little big. The same room with the beds separate appears a bit crowded. Everything is clean and they change the bath towels every day even we had it hanged on the towel rack. However the hand towel which was also hanged was never replaced during our 3 night stay. The shower is area is a little narrow and somehow the shower curtain gets "pulled" by the "negative" flow of the air in the shower like being sucked so it sticks to your body while the shower is flowing. They are generous with the toiletries. We got new ones everyday including sleepers. They provided toothbrushes, cottonbuds and shower caps. But they don't have combs and shavers. They provided free flowing hot drinks through the dispenser in the lobby. The dispenser has expresso, black coffee, latte, cappuccino, mocha and chocolate. The internet speed is sufficient but it seems the connection is not stable. The internet appears to be down a few times when we were using it.
Staff at the desk during check-in was very kind, as I had initially got a room that I didn’t like they changed it according to my request. The room was clean and has of adequate size, very small bathroom and shower curtain that sticks to the body during the shower. Breakfast with little choice of food and beverages. The hotel is positioned five minutes walk to the subway.
First of all the hotel is in Tin Hau and NOT in Causeway Bay. It is just one metro stop distance but the area changes dramatically. No more lights, brand shops and nice restaurants. It is just an ordinary area of Hong Kong. The room is little, even for HK standards. Ok modern and clean but if I have to open my luggage on the bed I consider the room too small. Inexistent view (21st floor) There is simply no closet. I had to put my clothes on the other free bed, I was lucky I was sleeping alone in a double bedroom. They give you four hangers fixed on a coat rack. There is also a small drawer, but that’s all. Definitely not enough if you’re there for business. Small bathroom, a shower with a curtain. Two minutes waiting to have the hot water from the shower is long. When you are in the shower 120 seconds waiting for hot water seem hours... and wasting water is not ECO... The breakfast is nearly a joke. You are given a voucher to go in the little coffee shop which is the next door: a place where normally you would not enter. A pathetic display of bacon, beans and sometimes scrambled eggs; some vegetables and a little jar of jam. The bread is closer to plastic than to real food. Better not having any breakfast, the hotel would save some more hilarious comments; forget about fresh fruits and yogurt.. the only good thing of that place was the music, but I can’t eat music for breakfast... At 8-9 minutes walk from the subway (Tin Hau station) not even the location is a plus. WiFi slow and intermittent, another negative note... All in all not an ugly hotel, but many things should be improved or modified, so be aware of what you get. If you pay more than 1000 HK$ per night, then there are better options.
