We were very excited for out stay in Great Falls. We were in town for the Wild Kratts Live show and decided to stay somewhere with a slide for the kids! I called the day before to see about checking in early so that the kids could play on the slide before we had to leave for the show. The lady said it was no problem to check-in early and that we would have full access to the pool and slide. We arrived around 1:30. We were told we couldn't check-in and that the slide was only open from 5-9pm. While checking in is a luxury and never guaranteed, it wasn't a big deal. But the ONLY reason we chose to stay at this hotel was because of the slide. We had to leave the hotel by 430 and were not going to be back until after 9pm. It was a complete waste. We could have stayed at the other Holiday Inn, with a smaller, but open, slide for less money. To top it all off though, were the beds. It was like sleeping on the floor. The beds were the hardest beds I have ever slept on. Even the kids who can sleep anywhere were up all night complaining that they couldn't get comfortable. We never splurge on things like this. And now I wish we hadn't. It was a complete waste of money and dealing with cranky sleep deprived children and a husband the next day was terrible. Oh! And no fridge in the room meant that our leftovers from the restaurant were wasted.
After a trek through western Alberta, we decided on a quick venture to Great Falls for 2 nights. We chose HIE over our Hilton usual stays to compare the two hotel chains. We had an 'okay' experience, but nothing to draw us away from a future stay at their competitor. The HIE is easily visible from I-15. Well lit parking lot. Within easy walking distance of a theatre and several box stores. There are restaurants nearby, but none that were recommended by staff...better restaurants are in the city of Great Falls. Continental breakfast was 'okay', but does not compare to the breakfast options at their competitor's hotel. Our room was a large king suite...lots of room...clean...with average furnishings, linens and towels. Very quiet room...no noise from the hallway or from the next room. Hotel entrance, common areas and continental breakfast area were attractive and clean. A decent nights stay, but not our preferred place to stay in the future.
We would stay here again. Our room was very nice and clean. We had two queen beds in a suite. The suite wasn't what we expected, but it was very nice. It was one long room with extra tables and a couch. The beds were comfy. The staff was friendly and nice. The breakfast was okay, but not great.
We were quite pleased when we arrived. Pros... •quick check in •Hot Tub was a good temperature. There is nothing worse than a luke warm tub. •Clean room/bathroom •shower temp was good and pressure was ok not amazing but good enough to wash the shampoo out of my think hair. •the complimentary shampoo oh my gosh smells amazing. •breakfast was decent with yummy turkey sausage. Cons... •beds were a bit too firm •no towels in the pool area •no fridge and microwave in the room Seems like the no towels in the pool area has been an issue for others. Not sure that they are actually working on this issue or it just may have been a one off. All in all we would stay here again.
We had stayed here previously, so thought we'd try it again. It is an average hotel. We found a stain on our bedding when we walked in, which was disturbing. However, when I asked to have new bedding brought up, it was quickly taken care of. The location is fine...everything in town is within about a 10 minute drive.
Very happy with the cleanliness and spaciousness of our room. Very comfortable pillows gave us a relaxing sleep. Pleasant helpful front desk staff. Good parking, and cross the street from a shopping area with a movie theatre, Barnes and Noble book store and other assorted retailers. Will definetly stay here in the future as we travel through Montana.
We stayed here for one night while en route to Yellowstone. This hotel was a great option for us. We booked a suite and had plenty of room for our group of four. We had a typical sized bathroom, a small wet bar area, a desk with chair, sofa bed, coffee table, two queen beds and dresser with tv. The sofa was comfortable to sit on. However, late that night, one child decided he wanted to sleep alone and when we went to make up the sofa bed, we realized that the bed in a bag in the closet only contained two pillows and that no sheets were on the bed. It was too late to mess with it further, so he had to go back to sharing. If you plan on using the sofa bed, check to make sure you have the appropriate bedding early on in the night. The two queen beds in the room were comfortable and we all slept well once the child who woke up wanting his own bed got back to sleep. The hotel had a guest laundry with one washer ($2 a load) and one dryer ($1 a load). The best part of this hotel though was the awesome pool area. There was a small kiddie pool, a nice sized hot tub and a good sized pool with a large water slide that goes outside the building before looping back into the pool. The hot tub was packed during our time there, but the line for the slide was short and moved quickly. The kids could have stayed there all night just going around and around on that slide. Breakfast was good and had a good selection of items. The hotel is located in a shopping center area, so there are some dining options close by including a Golden Corral within a 2-3 minute walk. An AMC theater is just across the street. The kids really wanted to stay here an extra night and we all enjoyed our stay.
We had a confirmed room booking and when we arrived we were told our room had been given away. We had to travel across town to another place. Thank you for the letting us know in advance, not. :( Front staff was not helpful at all and couldn't tell us anything. Poor customer service.
We are IHG rewards members and have stayed in many HIE. This one is AMAZEBALLS. First, the front desk staff is super funny / accommodating. We arrived late, exhausted, and immediately lost our keys and they were ready for us, and friendly. The pool is FABULOUS -- it has a big water slide. My kids loved it. It was also just extra clean - the whole place was sparkling. We were there on 4th of July and we could see the fireworks across the city from our room. We walked next door and watched a movie at the movie theater. I would recommend this to anyone - one of the best we've stayed in.
We stayed at this hotel for one night and the girl on the desk on our arrival was friendly and very helpful. We could check in early and we were upgraded into a suite which was beautiful. The location is excellent and the hotel is very clean and quiet. Breakfast was also above average and we had a really comfortable stay. We thoroughly recommend this hotel when in the area.
