The Thompson is a trendy, sophisticated hotel, close to the Magnificent Mile, great dining and cultural attractions. The rooms are clean, comfortable and cozy and I loved the bathroom, although the rooms I have stayed in, did not have tubs, I didn't care. The fitness center on site is more than adequate ...
A suite to impress. Upon arriving we were happy to see that the unit was in a great location close to Michigan Ave. The whole building is just beautiful inside and out. It is worth the money. We fell in love with the design. After an hour of arriving we had continuous knocks on our door. Another ...

The Gold Coast is a prestigious historic district between Oak Street, Lake Shore Drive, Clark Street, and North Avenue in Chicago’s Near North Side community. Emerging in the 1880s, following the Great Chicago Fire, the area became home to the State’s wealthy and elite. Upon their arrival to the neighborhood, many folks built luxurious mansions, such as Potter Palmer’s famed castle-like home. A walk around this neighborhood rewards you with the rich architecture of the impressive mansions, brownstones, and Victorian townhouses. Two blocks on Astor Street are local landmarks, listed in the National Register of Historical Places.
For a fascinating experience, visit the famed International Museum of Surgical Science, with exhibits of anatomy, orthopedics, stem cells, nuclear medicine, and much more. Stroll along Oak Street to experience Chicago’s Rodeo Drive, brimming with internationally revered designer labels. Savor exclusive dining opportunities at famous restaurants in the Rush Street area and choose between American, Japanese, Italian, Jewish, French, and Mexican fare. Much nicer and less expensive than some airbnbs we have used in the area. Positives: Convenient to local family, Lobby, hallways and room were all clean and fresh. Beds were clean and comfortable. Negatives: Room lock didn't work requiring new batteries, which was fixed promptly. Tried to use Business Center for airline check-in and print boarding passes but the printer had no extra paper and didn't work; asked Sunday morning receptionist to resolve and she responded rudely that she was the only person on duty, didn't come to resolve the issue. Pole light in room was broken. Requires a deposit upon check-in.
I chose the Hyatt because of 4 things. 1. The rate was a great value. 2. Considering the amount other hotels were charging for the parking, the combined price of the room and parking made the price a bargain. 3. This is a 4 star hotel and the quality of the room was excellent. 4. The hotel is attached to the convention center and the convenience of not having to drive to the auto show was very relaxing. The hotel put a notice under the door the evening before check out that there was a large number of check outs the next morning and to please observe the 12:00 check out time and use online or in room check out if possible. Bit, they let you know on this notice to hold onto your room key and if parked in the garage, you could remain parked there at no additional charge until 8:00pm. This worked out great for me as I didn't have to worry about moving my car until I left Chicago to head home. Excellent stay.
I was so pleasantly surprised! I booked literally the night before on New Years weekend and was able to get a room and I was able to check in five hours early! I also was allowed to leave my bags with the front desk after check out for seven hours. The view was amazing! The room was so clean, the staff was so nice and accommodating! I exclusively use their hotels now! Love them
A suite to impress. Upon arriving we were happy to see that the unit was in a great location close to Michigan Ave. The whole building is just beautiful inside and out. It is worth the money. We fell in love with the design. After an hour of arriving we had continuous knocks on our door. Another renter seemed to have rented the suite and was on the phone with the manager. Shortly after booking our chosen room we had received an email stating there was a scheduling issue and they upgraded us to this suite. Day prior to arrival we got a email from the manager confirming the suite we were in. Upon talking to her on the phone she says we were in the wrong room we should pack out bags and empty the suite for the other renters to come in. Finally after much back and forth they ended up giving the other couple another room and letting us keep this sweet. However even though they were accommodating you would think they would not double book and make sure everyone is in the proper bookings before their arrivals. Otherwise our experience was great.
