When you’re ready to book your flights from Tampa to Chicago, let Orbitz.com help you find the best deals around for your travel dates. Tampa is a sun-filled Florida destination famous for outdoor activities and family style attractions like Busch Gardens. Chicago is famous for its major cultural attractions as well as its obsession with its sports teams.
When you fly out of Tampa, you’ll be leaving from Tampa International Airport. The airport is located about seven miles northwest of downtown Tampa, making it convenient to get to. A metered taxi ride from the city center to the airport will cost you about $25 and will take anywhere from fifteen to twenty minutes depending on the amount of traffic. A cost-effective alternative is the Hartline Bus 30 that runs between the city and the baggage claim area; the fare is $1.75. Short-term parking is available for $20 per day, and long-term parking is available for $15 per day.
When you arrive in Chicago, you’ll most likely be landing at O’Hare International Airport, although many budget airlines land at nearby Midway International Airport. O’Hare airport has four separate terminals, and there’s a taxi area outside the baggage claim sections of each one. A taxi into town will cost you $40 and will take about an hour. If you prefer to take a shuttle, the shuttle van area is located outside Terminal Three opposite the Hilton Hotel. Go Airport Express is one of the shuttle services, and it charges $27 for a one-way ticket into town. Chicago is filled with art museums, and one that definitely deserves a visit is the National Vietnam Veteran’s Art Museum, a beautiful museum dedicated to art made by Vietnam vets. If you’re a butterfly lover, check out the Judy Istock Butterfly Haven, a space filled with waterfalls, rock gardens, vines, and nearly 1,000 gorgeous butterflies. Summertime temperatures in Chicago hover in the 90s. Winters can be brutally cold, with temperatures in the 20s and a wind chill factor that can make it seem even colder. Winter is the most budget-friendly time to visit since people tend to want to avoid the cold weather. If you’re interested in attending major cultural events, visit anytime between spring and fall.
