You can fly from Charleston to Chicago in less than three hours. Spectacular Trump properties and more modest lodgings await your arrival. If you enjoy walking the streets of a big city to visit small restaurants and view historical architecture, the Windy City is an excellent destination for a weekend getaway or longer vacation. To start your trip, drive down Kiawah Island Parkway to Sanctuary Beach Drive where the Charleston International Airport (CHS) is located. You can also just take a CARTA bus to the airport to board your flight.
Depending on the weather, you might go to Lake Michigan or ride the Ferris wheel at Navy Pier. You may also spend a day in the business district, or enjoy Buckingham Fountain and Millennium Park, which are located near the Art Institute of Chicago. The Adler Planetarium delivers educational views of the night sky, and families often enjoy visits to the Lincoln Park Zoo and the Shedd Aquarium.
The best time to visit Chicago is between June and August, when temperatures average between 75 and 80 degrees F. Prepare for temperatures below 30 degrees and potential snow storms from November to February. When you fly from Charleston to Chicago, you'll arrive at O'Hare International Airport (ORD). Go outside the baggage claim area on the lower level of your terminal to catch a shuttle to your preferred rental car provider or to find taxis and the bus stop. If you visit in September, you might participate in the annual O'Hare 5K Run on the Runway.
