Sheraton West Des Moines Hotel

After a long day on the road it was a great place to stay. Clean, comfortable, friendly staff.

Excellent location and amenities, there are plenty of restaurants, bars and entertainment near by.

Good value for the location. It isn't next to all the action, but only a short drive away. Staff is helpful and the rooms are clean and tidy.

Stayed here to visit some friends with my 9-month old baby. Room was very clean and easy for baby to move around. She loved the huge windows! My only complaint is that I wish there was a free breakfast!

Ordinarily, I stay at the Embassy Suites downtown when I am in Des Moines for business, however, the Embassy and many of the nicer hotels were sold out for some reason so I stayed at this Sheraton by default. The hotel was average. The location is good, as it is right off I-35 and really close to I-80/I-235. I waited for probably 10 minutes to check in due to a chatty hotel guest in front of me and only one hotel clerk. Once I reached the check-in desk, the clerk was quick and pleasant. The hotel room seemed a bit outdated and there were two large dark stains on the carpet which were a little gross-looking. Beyond the stains on the carpet, the room appeared clean and the bathroom was (thankfully) quite clean. The bed was very comfortable and I was able to get a good night's sleep. I did not use any of the amenities so I cannot comment on those. I did order room service for breakfast and ordered an egg white, cheese, and tomato omelette, which was probably the worst-tasting omelette I've ever had. There were other selections on the menu but I was trying to go for one of the healthier options. It came with fresh fruit and juice which were both fine. Overall, I would probably elect to stay at one of the nicer hotels, such as the Embassy downtown, before I would stay at the Sheraton again, however, it was acceptable for my overnight stay.

I had to leave before they served breakfast. No one at reception when I was trying to check out.

We arrived very late because of flight delays. Our room was ready. They helped us fine a late night place to eat. I was hoping to swim for fitness, but the pool was over crowed with children. Not a problem, but not a good place for adult who wants to swim. Fitness center was also full of kids.

After booking a two-room suite with refrigerator, microwave and fold out couch, My wife and I arrived with our two children and dog for a five night stay to find that the best room available was a single king non-smoking. Apparently they don't guarantee room type. That's the kind of information that would be helpful before a 14-hour ride cross country.

The main issue with our experience was the cleanliness of the room. It smelled like old laundry, and the bathroom towels from the previous guests had not been washed yet. This is the reason for the negative review. I would recommend it based upon location.

Clean, comfortable and convenient. Could have used more overhead lighting in the room entrance. Great to have two TV's. Water apparently leaked from the bathroom onto the carpet BEFORE WE ARRIVED. Not a big deal to me but could cause mold if not quickly corrected.

Perfect location, right off the main roads and we could find everything we needed to find.

Everything was good except the pillows did not support my head. I sank so deep that I woke with a neckache.

The kids really enjoyed it! We would stay there again.

This was a perfect place for my husband and I to get away for a night. We were close to the Jordan Creek mall, perfect shopping area. It was close to the restaurant we had reservations at. We were very comfortable for the night and would definitely go back in a heartbeat.

Had one of those horrible airline trips trying to get to Des Moines. Missed the first night due to airline cancellations. But once I finally made it to Des Moines, the Sheraton staff were very accommodating and made me feel very welcome. I'll stay there again.

Nothing too fancy. Appears to be up to date, very clean, and I loved the star bucks in the room!

The staff was very friendly and the room was nice and clean. Nothing overtly fancy, just a nice place to stay. There was a charge for wifi and also a charge for the breakfast though.

Should have a free continental breakfast or at the very least coffee in the lobby

My husband and I stayed at the Sheraton overnight for a business meeting. Overall our stay was great. Clean room, comfortable bed and bedding, reasonable rate for what you get. Two things irritated me. First, they didn't give us our wake up call. We were almost late to our meeting. The other was the breakfast buffet. We went down for breakfast at 8am Saturday morning (peak time) and the food was cold, there was no one manning the omelet station. The host finally went to get someone for us Other than that I would recommend the Sheraton West Des Moines Hotel.

The staff at the Sheraton are great. I forgot a document in my room and called from the airport to see if they could send or fax the contents to me. Housekeeping went to my room, found the document and promptly faxed it to me. All the staff are accommodating and cheerful. The hotel is comfortable, clean and modern.
