We always enjoy the great service at HG Inn... we learned that if something is not right HG will correct it. Home away from Home.
Nice hotel for area shopping. The hotel was clean and the beds were comfortable. Go for this hotel and have a great weekend!
Stayed here one night. Good sleep, quiet. The breakfast was amazing in the morning with lots of food choices. I'd stay here again.
Only complaints r no free breakfast, whenever the room heater kicked off it was loud, & the bed was supposed to b adjustable firmness.
I stayed here from Thursday, October 3rd, to Sunday, October 6th. I was greeted by the employee working at the front desk. She was by herself (and she was new- as she had told us) and super busy, but she was still very accommodating. I checked in 30 minutes earlier, but my room was already ready for me! She also let me know the times/prices for breakfast, lunch, dinner, room-service, the pool, and the fitness center. I went up to my room and everything was nice and clean, and new towels were laid out for me. I never had the time to eat the food in the hotel (I was always out exploring Des Moines), but from the number of people I saw of people eating there, it seemed like it was yummy. Every day I stayed there, my room was cleaned very well and I would get new items to use. I also took advantage of the pool/hot tub for one of the nights! It was very comfortable, and I enjoyed that it didn't close until 11pm at night! (This still gave me extra time to make use of the pool/hot tub and relax even after I explored Des Moines). I also liked that they included extra towels there in the pool/hot tub area for you to dry off. Every day when I returned at night or left the hotel in the morning, I was always greeted by the hotel staff at the front desk. They were all very helpful, professional, nice, and accommodating with any questions I had. :) I would definitely recommend staying here, as it is also close in vicinity to everything! There is a Super Target store nearby, a Walmart, Trader Joes (in case you want to buy snacks), there is also food such as Panda Express, an Italian restaurant, Mongolian BBQ restaurant, etc. nearby! (plenty of stores/restaurants, etc nearby which makes it a lot more accommodating and you have many choices to choose from!) The hotel is located in the nice area of West Des Moines, and super close to the Jordan Creek Mall! (nice mall with more restaurants/outdoor and indoor mall)-- there was PF changs, cheesecake factory, panera bread, food court, etc. -- too many to name! I have absolutely no complaints about the hotel, and would definitely come and stay again! :) Probably the nicest hotel I've stayed at before where everyone is so nice and welcoming.
Overall, it was very enjoyable. Good location close to shopping, food, etc..
Everyone we came in contact with was friendly and helpful, absolutely fine. We came from VA to attend the John Wayne Celebration in Winterset, IA and the hotel was easy to find and not too far from Winterset. If we get back to this area, we will definitely stay again.
The staff was courteous enough upon checkin. It was after ten pm when we finally checked in, the bar and the restaurant were already closed. When we were walking to our room the smell of garlic was awfully strong. Our whole roomed reeked of it. The walls are paper thin, the people next door to us had crying babies that sounded like they were in our room. THe ceiling was just as thin, the person upstairs from us got up to go the bathroom and the toliet sounded like it was going to fall through the floor. There was noise from the hallway begining early in the morning until we checked out. The lighting was horrible. The bathroom lighting is so dim I couldn't even put make up on in there I had to go from there to the table and then to the closet doors. The whole place is very poorly done and I will not be staying here again. EVER!
Very clean. Newer Towels. Friendly welcome check-in.
The bed in our room sagged on the side. Unless you slept in the middle of the be you felt like you would roll onto the floor. Everything else at this hotel was great, Nice living area in our room and a great pool for the kids. Great location with easy acess to I-80 and I-35. Within walking distance of the mall and restraunts without a lot of traffic noise.
Check in took forever and they didn't seem like they knew what they were doing. The room had broken light bulb glass on the floor that my 6yr had to sleep on. The lamps didn't work either. So we didn't have any lighting expect the bathroom and hall area. There was unsupervised kids trashing the pool area throwing all the towels in the water and no one was doing anything. The pack-in-play was staind and filthy dirty my daughter was so uncomfortable sleeping in it she was up all night screaming and had to share my queen size bed with my husband and I.
Staff was very helpful, and professional. Rooms were very clean and spacious. Internet worked great and location was excellent with respect to location and food choices ...
We had booked four rooms, as we were in town for our son's graduation from Drake University. We had a request for a handicapped accessible room and the staff was very accomodating. The rooms were clean and spacious. We also liked the location right off I 35.
All great, but since we booked through [...], they wouldn't let us change our rooms from a king to 2 queen beds, even if we offered to pay extra.
There was a loud buzzing noice all day and night that never stopped. Also the free wireless internet did not work on our windows 7 laptop. Plus there wasn't enough parking, had to park in a handicap parking spot. Also the "adjustable beds" didn't adjust, we turned the dial all the way to the opposite direction and the bed was still hard as a rock.
The hotel staff was friendly and very accommadating to our needs and requests. The hotel is new and rooms were clean and modern with select comfort beds. The location is near the Jordon Creek Mall and many familiar restaurants are nearby.
