The hotel was severely outdated. The ONLY upgrades it had was the lobby. The lobby of the hotel is very contradicting to the rooms we stayed in. A beautifully updated lobby and old raggedy rooms. The furniture was old and tore up. It advertised having a pull-out sofa but it wasn't in the room. There was a lounging chair in its place. It had old carpet like no one had replaced it in years or had it cleaned. The bathroom tub had a hole in it like it had been kicked in. And to top it all off my sister in law saw a roach in her room. It was the end all be all. They comped us for our first couple of nights and sprayed to get rid of the bugs. They explained they were getting the necessary upgrades next year but...that wasn't helping us at this point. We ended up leaving the hotel and staying at the Country Inn & Suites.
We booked our rooms through a third party and when we arrived we found the rooms to be nice but could use some updates. Bathtub was patched and needed to be replaced, had a worn out piece of carpet with the edging broken due to the chair rolling over it and the chair was peeling badly to the point that everytime you sat in the chair, it got on your clothes. We dealt with it until the third day when my son and daughter in law found roaches in their room. We immediately let the front desk know and I also called the third party we booked through. They found us another hotel and we moved there on the same day.
The staff and hotel were very nice. Room was very clean. However , never been to a hotel that you have to use key card at front door at night. There appeared to be security guard in a truck all night. I was somewhat concerned about our vehicle and our safety.
My son gave the Ultimate Sacrifice in 2003 and his career started at Fort Benning. For his 36th birthday I came back to honor him. My car was parked 4 spaces from the main door of the hotel. It was broken into though they say they have good security.
Went to visit my son who was graduating from boot camp. Found out that we had an extra day so had to scramble to find a hotel. Talked to Tricia at Candlewood Suites and she looked up my frequent travel number and held the room for us. The room was fantastic and she even suggested a restaurant nearby which turned out to be a diamond in the rough. Excellent choice Tricia. Later that night my grandson had an upset stomach and ended up leaving a mess on our personal king size blanket. The complimentary washers did the job but the dryers really couldn't handle that size of a blanket. Tricia allowed me to use the heavy duty dryer used for the hotels linens. Worked perfectly. She had it drying while we spent the day with our son. Came back and loaded everything up and headed out back to Texas. Thank you Tricia for making a hectic day turn out beautiful. Will stay here again next time I come through.
Me and my husband had a recent short stay at this hotel, and were very pleased. Even though we did not have a need to the kitchen, I thought it was very well stocked with dishes and even plenty of supplies if the dish washer was needed. There were a few machines not working in the fitness center, but there was still enough equipment to compensate for that. The young lady at the front desk was very courteous and helpful. I would have no problem staying at this hotel again if it becomes necessary.
If I could give this hotel zero stars, I would. When we arrived a woman was bringing her dirty bedsheets to the front desk to ask for clean ones. When we arrived in our room, a cockroach crawled across the floor and the carpet was disgusting and covered in stains. We went down to the front desk and were given a new room. The next room had a leaking vent and did not appear any cleaner. The front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating, but we didn't stay the night. We were too grossed out. The location of the hotel is not in the safest of neighborhoods either. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
We stayed at candlewood while a repair was done to our house. The guest services lady was nice enough to bring me up some tea bags as well as pop me a bag of popcorn since our microwave was not working. They stay was excellent.
The hotel is situated partway between downtown Columbus and Fort Benning in a somewhat seedy side of town. The hotel is clean and safe, the staff was helpful. There is a 24/7 little convenience store on site that has a small drugstore and groceries. Free coffee. The suites have a small kitchen, and a few extras like a full length mirror, a closet and hooks to hang out the next days clothes, wall mounted thermostats that are calibrated to temperature settings, adequate towels, extra toilet and facial tissue, a recliner in front of the TV and a small desk/dining area.
The neighborhood around this hotel is not great. Walking my dog was a problem. Fortunately there is a dog park a few miles away. We had to wait for our room for almost 2 hours because housekeeping folks called in sick. Quite annoying.
