Serene getaway spot

First: we loved this place. The setting is awesome - very beautiful. The staff is extremely cordial and well-trained in customer care. The room was large, the bed comfortable. Incredibly large selection of tv channels. Two restaurants on site. The balcony is a nice feature. GREAT shower. Beautiful grounds to wander around. The Keurig coffee maker didn’t work ( and this is a compliment) when we told the desk clerk, she had a replacement in our room almost immediately. We will be back

Property is clean, but definitely needs some updating. We are at the Oaks kitchen and it was excellent. Great service as well. The rooms are older and could use some refreshing, especially in the halls and bathrooms. The new young lady at check-in was not trained enough to be on her own yet. Made us wait 10 minutes to check in while on the phone. Forgot about our request for a corkscrew. Then, took 10 minutes to figure out how to charge us for a bottle of wine. Property was quiet and nice.

Thinking twice now.

Entering our room, we find the bathroom door was off the rail and sitting on its bottom on the floor. This is a barn type rolling door. I had to call from the room using my cell phone as the room phone did not work. Following that, we discovered a brown stain on the white comforter. Yuck. and called again using a cell phone. I will say the front desk person was very helpful. As for the bourbon barrel tasting, it was a bust, in my opinion. The mgr,Troy, reminded me of 'mumbles' and was of no help. Maybe should be a disher instead. Walking to the marina station for eats was convenient.

The rooms are nice and a good size. The property is beautiful right on the lake! It’s convenient to Hiawassee and surrounding towns. Staff is always nice and helpful! The porches and balconies on the resort side need some repair. It would be nice to have some plastic cups to make a drink in, they only have paper coffee cups and those aren’t suitable for an iced drink. Overall we’ve stayed here multiple times and would recommend.
