Had a great stay last week.We loved the grounds, enjoyed the pools and found the staff pleasant.

The pools that remain open until the end of September.

Quiet. Beautiful horses. Nice lake. Alot of activities to do. Rooms clean. Staff waa friendly.

We only stayed for one night, so I can’t really give a thorough review. The cabin we stayed at, however, was absolutely lovely. Would love to stay there again.

Long black hair found in one of the beds. Obviously linens were not changed from prior guest. Day 2 mentioned to front desk clerks that we did not receive maid service...advised there was no maid service during your stay, after all, "it's a resort". We had no idea. Asked if they had a pool table in the facility. Night clerk said no. There were actually 2 pool tables in the game room in the basement. Seemed like the staff really didn't know much about the facility and what was or was not available. Tried to order a beer in the restaurant at lunch and we were told beer was only served between 3 and 5 pm. Although I stayed in the hotel, another couple in our group rented a cabin with fireplace. She confirmed the reservations 2 months in advance. When we got to the cabin, there was no fireplace. When mentioning this to the hotel staff, we were told that there are no guarantees on 2 bedroom with fireplace as some 2 bedroom cabins have no fireplace and priority goes to the timeshare owners. This was never explained at the time reservations were made. You always assume that you will be getting what you reserved and paid for. It's disappointing to find out that things are different and/or not clearly explained ahead of time.

Overall the resort is nice. It is missing a few elements to make it a great place to stay.

We met up with some friends while traveling in Virginia. They enjoyed the area and the cabins and could not say enough about the place. We enjoyed visiting the site and would like to stay in a cabin next time. The hotel rooms were small/ The restaurant is only open on certain days. We plan to return to try out the cabins.

We thought it was a hotel, found out not a hotel, but a place for timeshare, not worth it, no refund even when made days before.. we cancelled within time frame they would not honor it, rude people

A small but very clean room containing the minimum - not even a chair - and very sturdy furniture. We didn't really partake of the dozens of recreational options (inc. equestrian trails, Connect Four tournament, minigolf, a lake and something called "pickle ball").

As West Coasters vacationing along The Hallowed Ground Trail, we found the location of this hotel surprising-off the beaten track to,the point you wonder if the directions could be correct. NOT nearby any highways, grocery stores, etc. It seems to be connected with. Time share, something we were not aware of. Staff just so-so. Rooms inconveniently layer out, miserable pillows...BUT rooms were clean-an important feature! The grounds are amazing and for family adventures, probably top notch. But meals weren't served off season and the outback location made finding breakfast challenging. So we packed up prematurely, deciding it was't worth driving back...

We needed a place to stay overnight (2 nights) in late September on our tour of historical sites such as Monticello and Montpelier. This place is in a beautiful setting, but our room in the lodge was tiny and had no view. There wasn't a single chair, and we had no room to open our suitcases. There was a restaurant, and our dinner was fine, but the next morning we were informed that the restaurant was closed for the season. There was NO food, no coffee in the lobby, and no room to set up a coffee pot in the room. The staff seemed very young and inexperienced. In summer, this resort could be spectacular, with a nice pool and terrace, the lake, trails to hike, maybe boats to rent (not sure), a nice children's playground, horses to ride, a horse-drawn carriage, a tennis court and horseshoe court, etc.About a mile away there is a general store and a beautiful landscaped multi-pool area. I'm unsure if lodge guests could use it. Guests should inquire about the various kinds of rooms and facilities available (there are various types of cabins). The location is very out-of-the-way and not for the casual overnight tourist but might be just the thing for a family vacation (bring your own food)..

I am very familiar with the Charlottesville area so I was excited to see this room available. First off I will say the scenery is beautiful. The site is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, take your camera the sunset is spectacular. That being said, the experience in general left a lot to be desired. Upon my arrival I checked in, the young lady who checked me in smiled and said you can pick up your parking pass at that desk. I walked over to that desk, picked up my pass and was immediately hit with "we would love to show you our property!" Sorry, I did not pay all of that money to sit through a high pressure sales pitch and to be honest that should have been disclosed when you are renting the room. If you want me to see the property then comp me a night or two on the property. I told the woman no, went back to my car and drove to my cabin. As I am entering the area I notice some of the cabins need some attention, including one with a board where a window should have been. My cabin had a nice glob of yellow epoxy filling in a hole, what really made it better is that the worker who filled in the hole with this natural looking epoxy decided the best way to clean his/her tools was by scraping the tool along the door frame leaving yellow streaks along the door frame. Classy. Entering the cabin I noticed a nice pink stain on the carpet. When we went to use the dishwasher we noticed water was sitting in the bottom of it, when we ran the drain cycle that did not clear the problem. The DVD player displayed a picture that had a red and green tint to it. When I said something to the staff they said it would be fixed. The dishwasher was replaced, the DVD was not. One out of two is not acceptable when you are being charged these rates. The jet tub was had issues with the lining around the jets, once again you expect better if you are being charged these rates. The staff was always trying to sell you something. We bought sticks to roast marshmallows, the staff member tried pushing Hershey Bars and Graham Crackers, we told him all we wanted was to roast marshmallows, after the third time he got the hint. The store's prices were outrageous. $7.99 for a twelve pack of drinks, $17 for a cheese pizza are just some examples of how the outrageous prices. Overall the experience was poor, the only satisfaction came from watching the sunset my two evenings there, but that was not enough to justify the cost.

Lovely setting, lots of activities on site. Room in lodge was very small but clean. Nice location near Gordonsville. Would be great to bring the kids/family.

We booked the "hotel" looking only for a place to stay overnight in the area. We were surprised to find it is a full-facility resort-- you need to stay for a week, not a night. We will return next year and do that, and take advantage of all it has to offer

We stayed in the three bedroom cabin. The staff was nice. The grounds are well kept. We went horseback riding, some of the family took a wagon ride around the property, we played miniture golf, they have rental boats and fishing. The cabin had a full deck with a gas grill. The cabin was well decorated flat screen T.V in each bedroom and was very spacious. I would defintely go back again. Very nice for relaxing family vacation or romantic get away.

This was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in:) The room was kinda small but other than that very enjoyable nice country setting we couldnt have asked for a more pleasant stay Thank you!!!!!!

We attended a family friend's wedding. We explored Gordonsville. We had lunches at a French restaurant and the local BBQ. Both experiences were delightful. People are friendly and polite. The rooms at the Shenandoah Crossing are clean.Staff are professional and helpful. The only thing that was not pleasant was the heater in the room. It was noisy. Every time the temperature outside changes the heater will start blowing. We were not able to sleep very well because of the noisy sound it created.

Our room was very basic, and the bathroom was tiny.(guess we got what we paid for since we got such a good deal). No rollaway beds available at all any more-would have been more comfortable had we known that before we got there. We had requested one. Seemed there was another charge every time we turned around. We were told at night that breakfast would be $6.99. Found out in the morning that was the kids' price-adults were $9.99. When we arrived, we were asked if we would like juice, etc. Found out when the bill came that that wasn't included. One glass was $2- made breakfast $11.99 each. Most activities cost more. Maid didn't come because our "do not disturb" sign was up early in the morning. We took it down mid morning, while the maids were across the hall, but they never came. Trail ride was exceptional and very reasonably priced. Must have a different manager than the motel. Also, while checking my email at the one public computer (no chair), I couldn't avoid hearing one staff member go on and on to a group of others about how another staff member had done something incorrectly and he had to fix it. Very unprofessional in front of guests, or even if i wasn't present!
