Check in staff not as friendly as check out staff, but a good experience all around. Great morning breakfast service and selection. We always carried food back to the room, as we were traveling with dog George. The only thing not so great was the dog walk area. There was a specific area, bags supplied, but any direction you walk on the sidewalk is fairly high traffic, weekend or week day. Early mornings best for long walks.
The location of this hotel is excellent-easy walk to shops, stores and restaurants. And some of the staff (Kathi at the front desk and Sheila in the kitchen) were great. But the hotel suffers from lack of investment and some service is slapdash. The furniture looks like it has been in a world war, with the couch being particularly threadbare. They approached the essential periodic hotel refresh by doing part of the hotel, but not redoing the entire room. Things like toilet paper, dishtowels and paper towels and dish tabs would often not appear unless you asked for them. Food, except for when Sheila cooked something, was not up to par. Wine was mislabled and beer was served in a pitcher, partially flat and always the same Shocktop, both running out periodically during receptions. The hotel also has two odd design quirks in its entry. There is no obvious place to pull up and unload, so if it is raining (it was when we arrived) you get pretty wet. The hotel also has a single entrance door, rather than the ubiquitous double door, making it very hard to get the cart in the door without help. Fortunately, the desk staff did see me trying to get in and held the door. Finally, the business center computers were really old-running Windows 7-and VERY slow. Another part of the lack of investment to keep the property at its best.
We had a lovely stay. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Kudos especially to Miriam at the front desk-super helpful, and Tieba in housekeeping-attentive, friendly and efficient! Great breakfast too! We'll return!
The hotel was clean. Beds were amazingly comfortable. The breakfast was nice and the evening complimentary snacks and beverages a plus. BUT, the staff was crazy amazing! Especially Ms. Kathy and Melissa!
Stayed here for a week with the family. The front entrance door badly needs to be replaced with something more guest-friendly (especially handicapped and those moving carts or luggage in or out), but otherwise can't say anything bad about this hotel. Good location, clean, and great, friendly service. The assistant GM, Scott L., was extremely helpful on the front end with making several changes to our reservations.
We love this hotel! The staff is attentive to our needs on our trip to and from Florida. Melissa Zimmerman runs and excellent facility. My wife and I and our little dog urge anyone who is going to stop in Mt. Pleasant to consider staying there for one night or an extended period of time. Dr. & Mrs. James K. Smith, Sr and Angel
We stay at alot of Residence Inns as they take pets. We stayed here for a week for a short vacation. First night we arrived they had their week night dinner social. Decided to stop for a bite before going out to dinner and ending up eating dinner there. The chicken taco filling was delicious! Had garbanzo beans, peppers and alot of flavoring. Tasted like something home made. Had tortillas and toppings too so plenty for us. They had a few more of these but one was just desserts and a disappointment. Also appetizers/socials just Mon- Wed which is unusual compared to other Residence locations. Staff at breakfast and dinner socials were all very kind and everything was kept very clean and refilled. Breakfast had something alittle different everyday and better than other long term hotels. Our room was good as we were on an end near the door for our pet.. Furniture could use alittle refresh as some of the chairs and table were pretty banged up. Housekeeping was excellent except they forgot to empty kitchen trash can under sink a few times but I did it myself as it was usually full. Otherwise, replaced toiletries, coffee and condiments daily and did a very good job of making up and cleaning our room everyday. This hotel is 10 minutes from the beach which we took advantage almost daily just for walks. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Charleston. Very easy access in and our of the city.
We had our floors sanded and had to move, with 3 cats! Residents Inn took us in for the week. It was wonderful! They were nice and the hotel was clean. They offered a full buffet breakfast, and light snacks 6:00-7:30 MTW. The room we stayed in was clean and spacious with two full master bedrooms. The room had a full kitchen with a full sized refrigerator and dishwasher, pots and pans included. The only down side, if any, was the pull out bed sofa was out dated. This was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend them.
This Residence Inn is conveniently located in the heart of Mt Pleasant. Walking to various stores and restaurants (and a movie theater) is very easy. The beach is a short drive across a bridge, so easy access but no great views from the hotel. We had a balcony that looked out over the roadway. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Parking was plentiful. Good stay overall. 1 note: Hotel is pet friendly, which is great for the pet owners. But we did have a dog across the hall from our room that barked close to non-stop. Turning up the volume on the TV drowned out the noise. But if you are not one to sleep with the sound of a TV, the possibility of pet noise could be a problem.
Traveling south with 2 elderly pets can be exhausting and nerve racking. I do the 3 day route every 6 months with one of my Adult daughters to help with the drive and moral Support. I stay in residence inns because of the pet policy. Some hotels we stay at get very tired , are not remodeled and then I choose not to return. This was my 2nd stay at this property Our stay in this lovely hotel with such committed staff really made the overnight so enjoyable. Everyone takes such pride in the appearance of the property. This morning the breakfast room was festive with the tree trimming happenings. The food and appearance was so much nicer then other buffets at residence inns. The details of extra touches : really fresh fruits , misc cheese choices, egg whites, fresh breads , a glass table to hold used dishes rather then the utilitarian grey buckets reminding one of a cafeteria. The hotel rooms were kept up nicely as well as the common areas. The pool area is the nicest I've seen. See photo attached. We had our breakfast outdoors. Staff were busy placing red holiday ribbons outdoors in the parking lot. Overall wonderful experience in one of the nicest Residence Inn I've stayed at.
