The Royal Cancun All Suites Resort

Kids loved the swimming pool, the room is very spacious, the room service is great. The beach is not so good, too much debris in the water. The on-site buffet restaurant La Palapa is average. Try the specialty restaurants, much better food. However, if you go offsite restaurants, check the shuttle schedule. We had very bad experience on the shuttle that didn't run between 8 to 10pm, we finish dinner at 8:15pm and no way to wait until 10 with 3 kids so we end up taking taxi.

The Royal Cancun is the smaller, quieter Royal Resort. The beach has no waves, which is nice for kids to walk in the water looking for sea creatures. Pools are small, which creates a comfy atmosphere. The staff at the Royal Cancun is by far the best reason we vacation here year after year. After one day, the waiters at the pool and restaraunt know your names and what what you like to drink. Would recommend Royal Cancun to families looking to spend time with their kids and friends.

Only complaint was that we couldn't get into the Italian restaurant unless you wanted to go at 9:30. It was empty often so I was thinking they were holding space for members or time shares.

This is a hotel that has kids everywhere. Unfortunately, due to the design of the property, there is effectively no typical "pool areea" that is not in a major walkway. There is no beach.... well, technically there is, but there are no waves... mor like a bay. Even for kids, I would not choose this property. The property is well-maintained, and is a middle-of-the-road property. Not upscale, but not "budget". But by God yiou better follow their rules to the T... they are not flexible at all. There are much better choices in Cancun.

We just stayed there for 6 days. The place is excellent for families with kids as the beach is incredible and very shallow for quite a distance. The buffet food was so-so but the 24 hr room service is awesome and better than the buffet food. WARNING: when you get there your "concierge" is really a timeshare representative that tries to get you to come to a 2 hour meeting so your prices for activities will be less. My advice is take what you make per hour and see if its worth the savings - for us it was not. If you do not do the meeting, then dinner reservations at the restaurants cannot be made in advance but we had no problem making same day even with 11 people. The place is quiet and has lots to do. The staff is super nice and very accommodating. When you arrive, you will put a $300 charge on your card which is a way to pay for tips using your room key. The cleaning crew is incredible - every day we returned to a spotless room and they also did a turn down each day. La Trattoria on site is ok. The seafood place offsite is excellent. The Mexican place offsite is excellent. I would highly recommend you get the beach side location because sitting out on your private deck is wonderful. They even stock the fridge everyday with soda, beer and water, at no additional cost. Wifi in room is good. All in all, a place i would return to at the right price.

Fantastic restaurants if you are lucky to get reservations. Lots of activities, nice quiet nights, amazing rooms. Pretty and clean beaches.

My family of 5 had plenty of room in the villa, but the beach had a lot of seaweed and swimming was mellow due to no waves. Service was a bit slow (although all the servers were lovely!). Food and drinks were mediocre. Overall, it was a very comfortable hotel - quiet and easy with younger kids. Swimming pools were nice.

The hotel itself was nice, but the atmosphere was a bit dull. No music, few activities, and the ocean did not lend itself to snorkeling or playing in the waves. I did not feel the resort was transparent in what was included / not included, and it was difficult to figure things out. The sister resort, Royal Sands, was much better and had a much more fun environment.

We recently returned from a week at The Royal Cancun with my extended family and have only great things to say about the resort. Its a small, well kept resort with amazing staff and food. We are hoping to return next year.

We had a great stay at the Royal Cancun. I was a little nervous because other AI resorts we have been to in Cancun are a little more luxurious and have more dining options, so this was definitely a step down for us. Overall it was a fun and pleasant stay. The resort is right on the beach with two pools- one for kids, and one with a swim up bar. The beach is clean and wide with a really shallow and gentle ocean current since its on the Bay of Isla Mujeres. The water is clear and perfect for hunting for seashells with little kids. If you want to swim in the ocean this is not the place for you, as the water is really only deep enough for wading up to the knee for adults, all the way out to the roped off section. The one really surprising/disappointing thing about this resort is that AI is an option; many people weren't on the AI plan- they're paying a la carte for meals etc. Because of this, we found that on some nights in The Palapa (buffet) there was no dinner buffet- only menu service. Many items had a surcharge & on specialty nights almost all items were not part of the AI. We specifically chose an AI resort for the ease of buffet dining with small kids, i.e, no waiting for menu service, so this was annoying. The suite was wonderful, spacious, and clean and had a full kitchen, but I didn't go on vacation to cook. Overall, this was place was solidly good, but I'd really think about whether the suite accommodations are worth the trade off of the limited "AI."

The all inclusive part was amazing. YOu can eat at several different restaurants, not limited to the ones in the hotels. We had dietary restrictions and the staff was very accommodating. Carlos was amazing. HE bent over backward to help us. Only bad part was ants by one of the windows. Staff couldn't get rid of them. Bathtub was a little outdated. The pools were clean and big. Service was outstanding and so was the food.

We really enjoyed the service provided to us from the hotel. We lived in a suite with kitchen and it was very nice. Hotel staff are very nice.

It was a nice, well maintained resort and the staff were very friendly. Location was excellent, right on the beach.

Good service and amenities. Could have more dining options

personal atento, cuartos muy limpios, el ambiente muy familiar, la playa no tiene oleaje, muy bien para niños.

This is an older hotel. The pools are very small. There are only two restaurants on site and one is Italian. The additional restaurant options available are TWO shuttle rides from the resort. The quality of the sheets, pillows and bedding was really poor. the beach is really a bay. There are NO waves. If you are a young couple or a family with teens, you will be bored and uncomfortable. You also have to use a room key for everything you order! Even towels! This is in addition to your all inclusive bracelet?? Kind of a bummer for teenagers who can't enjoy the "all-inclusive" virgin drinks and snacks throughout the day unless they somehow keep a room key in their bathing suit??

I was there for 5 days and it was really great. If possible, go to el conquistador with a great food and pleasing service. la trattoria is also great with variety of italian food choices.

Everything here meets our needs! No big waves on the beach, very clean facility, wonderful staff, good food, opportunity to use other resorts, small, close to Isla Mujeres ferry station!

Excellent services, activities, surroundings!! Best family vacation all inclusive resort!

The Royal Cancun was a very nice hotel and a great value for the money. Although not overly fancy, it was perfect for a family trip with children. The rooms were very clean and spacious and the maid service was great - twice a day! There was plenty of room at the beach and at the pools for lounging. The food at the main restaurant was good and had a different theme each night. The one down side was that even though you get an all inclusive bracelet at check in, the dining staff always want your room key. So you are always having to find the staff person to get your key back to close out your tab, when the tab is zero because its all inclusive! I would stay here again, but its a ways from the heart of the hotel zone.
