I have been at Hotel De Hallen for 7 nights during my vacation in Holland. The facility is located is a nice, safe and quiet area in the west side of the city. Although a hall is missing, there are different comfortable sofas available for the guests from which you can enjoy the all the beautiful objects present at the first floor. It looks almost like an exposition / museum with several pieces really stunning. The city center is 2 km away, easily reachable on foot or by tram (there are several tram very close to the Hotel) in 10-15 mins. The staff is very kind and always ready to help. We really appreciated the different treats (stroppewaffle, bottle of water and candies) they left in our room. Bedrooms are comfortable and of the right dimension (our was the one with a city view on the upper level). I will definitely recommend this hotel and I am pretty sure I would pick this hotel again in case of a second vacation in Amsterdam.

Hotel was wonderful, modern, clean rooms with a huge comfy bed and rainfall shower - a very good location next to the food hallen and tram stops to all over Amsterdam. Highly recommend getting a tram pass and using this to see the city it's reliable and very easy to use. We arrived early at midday but they allowed us to check in and we got an upgrade to a deluxe room which was fantastic. Staff were friendly - Amsterdam isn't known for excellent service but the Dutch are so friendly and the hotel staff were very helpful. Room 214 was very quiet and lovely. I would say the second floor is quieter as downstairs has the kitchen, bar etc. We didn't try the restaurant as we ate in the city, food hallen and Mooks Pancakes for breakfast (5 mins away) We got the hotel on special offer which was great but it can be a bit pricey given its location. Unfortunately we are not returning on our trip in December due to the increase in price so staying elsewhere but highly recommend the hotel as it was a great spot for exploring a fantastic city! We had late check out this was 10 euro per hour which is about average for the hotels here. Note they also take a mini bar deposit in case you use it which is annoying as we didn't use it and had to wait a week to get our 50 euros back! So make sure you take a credit card which you can use abroad - also a lot of places in Amsterdam only take card and no cash including lots of stalls the food hallen.

Stayed at Hotel de Hallen for 2 nights in August before heading home from Schipol, and really enjoyed our time there! The hotel has a really unique atmosphere and the staff are extremely helpful and polite. The location is a little walk out of the city centre but right next to restaurants and cafe's so you can still find somewhere to eat after you have returned for the evening. The room was a little on the small side, but the bathroom was vast and had the biggest bathtub I have ever used!

We were impressed with how different this hotel was from the moment we stepped in. The furniture all around was so funky and the vibe in the place was so hip. The receptionists were quite pleasant and took the time to show us around and let us know more about the structure of the place and where the rails of the old station are and how they kept them there for authenticity. It's fun just sitting there admiring the interiors. We also had breakfast there once which was also good with nice, fresh options and the waitresses were also pleasant and ready to help. The only downturn was housekeeping on our last night. We came back to the room and only the bed was made, nothing else was arranged, like replacing the bathroom amenities and so on, but we had such a good experience that I wouldn't want to rate them down for that. Finally the location is ideal, away from the crowded touristy places but not too far, you can walk everywhere.

Super trendy hotel located next to Foodhallen. The layout of the hotel is quite cool, we had a room on the ground floor with glass towards the corridor (and a curtain of course) and no window. This felt super weird at first but didn't actually bother us at all when we had just gotten used to the idea. The room was clean and had all amenities we needed and quiet at night. The beds were very comfortable. The location is great with a walking distance to all sights and lots of restaurants close by. There is a resturant at the hotel which we used for an early breakfast before leaving on an early morning flight, and it was quite good. However, there are loads of great brunch spots closeby, brunch is sort of Amsterdam's thing, so I recommended you try to visit some of these as well! The staff is great, friendly and helpful. It's a bit pricey, but hotels in Amsterdam are generally on the pricier side. Considering this I would say that this is really good value for your money. I would recommend this hotel to any friend visiting Amsterdam. The only bad thing I can remember is that, being a super trendy hotel, they also embraced the wildly popular trend of not having a proper bathroom door. This is a shame, I don't feel comfortable knowing that my travel company can hear me using the toilet...

Really enjoyed our two nights here. A re-conditioned tram depot converted into a uniquely designed hotel with trendy decor and art on display. Staff were friendly and rooms were clean and comfortable. Adjacent to a big foodcourt "Foodhallen" with a fantastic selection of cuisines and beers. A reasonable 10-15 minute walk from everything you need to see in Amsterdam. Would stay here again!

My wife and I decided to stay at De Hallen hotel for our second visit to Amsterdam. This time we wanted to be located in a quiet neighborhood but within walking distance from the city center. We were surprised by how cozy the hotel was. Fantastic design with nice and comfortable rooms. Very quiet and personal. The bar and the restaurants located inside the hotel are great. And the building next to the hotel is full of bars, restaurants, library, etc I would not hesitate to stay at this place again. We just loved it.

using ex-tram trains warehouse. convenient location, good dining, unique interior. attached with De Hallen annex with library, shops, movie theater, food court. nearest tram station three minutes walking distance. watch out is no windows to open in the room

There was so much we loved about this hotel. We found the rooms pleasantly quirky and were not bothered by the lack of windows - we were there just to sleep after all! Although the ground floor rooms line the main foyer, they seemed at least as quiet if not better than other rooms we have stayed in. The décor throughout the reception area and foyer is really funky and we enjoyed just sitting there and having a drink. The reception was very helpful at check-in and they have nice cool water on offer all day (which we helped ourselves to regularly). With one exception detailed below, the service standards were high. Although the location is a tram trip from the main tourist spots, it is a picturesque tram route and they run regularly. The added bonus of the location is the adjacent food hall which we ate at on both nights. On the last night of our stay, we spotted a used coke can lying under the bed. We could have just disposed of it but felt the reception would want to know their cleaners had missed it. They told us they would come down and remove it straight away but nobody showed up. We had to contact reception again 45 minutes later at which stage a different person said he knew nothing about it. He did come down and remove the can but by then it had turned into a larger issue for us then it should ever have been. Overall, we were happy with Hotel De Hallen and it was just a pity they handled our one complaint a little clumsily.

Trendy and modern design. The rooms are clean and have a spacious bathroom with a tub and shower. The toiletries were also of nice quality. The ho.tel is right by a restaurant type of market with many vendors of different types of food. The food is great. The hotel is also off of a trolley route easy to get to from the airport on public transportation.
