Almost home

On our way back from Colorado, lots of amenities, carpet very dirty in room, smelled like cigarette smoke. Restaurant was good, but kids were running all over the dance floor and jumping off ledge. Several customers left. Lots of things to do. Pool, games, putt putt.

⭐️⭐️ A Dream Deferred

As the Ultimate Planning Mom with a Pinterest board full of road trip dreams, I wanted to love Cactus Cove in Amarillo. I really did. You can see the vision — the vintage charm, the bold colors, the quirky vibe. But sadly, the reality didn’t match the online sparkle. Our room felt more like a forgotten afterthought than a stylish boutique stay. Torn furniture, peeling lampshades, scuffed walls, and a smell that screamed “moist basement” despite the dry Amarillo air. Everything inside felt damp — and not in a spa-day way. The common areas? Cute at first glance, like a well-filtered Instagram post. But up close, it’s more cover-up than renovation. I wish the same effort went into making the place durable and truly welcoming. And the checkout experience? Not even a “How was your stay?” Just a flat “Safe travels,” which ironically was the highlight of the interaction. It’s sad, really — the potential is there. You can feel the dream of what this place wants to be. But as it stands, it’s a far miss. I hope someday it lives up to the vision, because right now, it’s all style with no staying power.

We enjoyed our stay there. There's an amazing indoor Courtyard that goes up all three levels with tables and various kid friendly things to play with or observe. The breakfast was perfectly fine, but there's a cafe if you want to pay extra for your premium breakfast. We slept good and felt comfortable and thankful for a nice place to stay.

The hotel was old and not unkept. Our first room was not properly cleaned and had throw up on the wall. When we brought it up to the front desk they did give us a new room. It was under renovations, but seemed run down. Breakfast was mid

Kids loved the pool! We were able to get a pizza to go from the restaurant for only $16 and eat it at the tables overlooking the pool. Our room was great. This is obviously an older building being remodeled. If you are looking for something fancy and have high expectations then don’t expect to get it for $90 (some of these other reviews! Omg) But if you are a family just looking fur a fun, clean, safe place for the night.. this place is a great option for something other than a cookie cutter hotel. Our room was perfectly clean. We also LOVED the no check-in method.. they texted us the code to our room a few hours before arrival. No lines, no waiting, we just walked in and went straight to the room!

Deluxe Suite was not worth it.

Amenities were nice, place was pretty, but my “Deluxe Suite” didn’t feel like a deluxe suite at all. It was tiny, the bed was very uncomfortable, and the room was just overall very average. Hot breakfast is NOT FREE!!! Cereal, apple juice, and grits are free.

The property was okay. It’s an old Econo Lodge that has been/is being renovated. Our room smelled like smoke which was a huge bummer. The front desk lady sprayed something in it that helped for a few minutes but didn’t take the smoke smell away. That was very disappointing. The restaurant was decent. I wouldn’t stay here again because of the smoke smell.

My husband and daughter are traveling to Colorado for softball and stayed the night here in route. Checked all the boxes, great service, great food and the extra amenities made the visit even better. My 17 year old loves pickleball and YALL HAVE PICKLE BALL! They’ll likely stay again next week on their way back from Colorado! We’re from The Woodlands Tx ❤️

Horrible experience

The room was in need of desperate updates and repair. The room had patches all over the ceiling and walls that seemed like it was just a quick cover up of the issues. The AC didn't work properly. The beds were uncomfortable. Didn't sleep at all and left super early just to leave the hotel. Read reviews that they did updates and this room must have been missed on those much needed updates.
