Staybridge Suites Amarillo - Western Crossing3.0 out of 5.0

In 2014, I stayed at the Staybridge suites and gave it raging reviews. This time, I am not sure what was different, I can’t put my finger on it but something seemed a little off. When I first checked in the TV in room 415 did not work. I called the front desk and without hesitation I was given another room. The second room 421 had a subtle garlic odor. I could not find a channel to watch on this TV. It only had local channels, CNN, the Weather Channel and more could not be viewed. When I checked out, I informed the desk clerk and he told me in the channel guide had all the numbers. However, there was no channel guide in the room. I was very tired after a long distant motorcycle ride. I considered to stay another night. With that little something that seemed off, I decided to hit the road. I am not suggesting this is a bad place to stay. I just know that from the last time three times I visited this Stay Bridge, something changed. This was my go to stop when riding my motorcycle through Amarillo. I will be returning to Amarillo. I will give it another try. If I feel the same, I will search to find another place to stay.
We take trips regularly where we stay in or around Amarillo. We are always looking for a great hotel for us and the kids too. This place is great! The rooms are very clean, very nice, and new. They provide so many things that none of the other hotels provide including dinner, breakfast, free beer on top, wine, an indoor pool, and free laundry facilities. This place truly is the best hotel in Amarillo and a great bargain for the price. There is truly only one thing that we found to not be at 100% and that is the wi-fi The wi-fi signal goes in and out somewhat and you have to keep connecting to it. The people that work there are all very nice too. The GM was so pleasant and helpful in getting us in quickly, and explaining all the amazing features that they have there. The rooms also have a full kitchen.
Hotel is located away from I40 and Western Avenue so that the road noise is mitigated. Inside the hotel was clean and well laid out. The staff was courteous, including the front desk, breakfast facilitators, and cleaning ladies. Our room was large and clean, and the A/C was very good, with low noise and no billowing curtains. The placement of the TV was awkward to observe from either the bed or the couch. The water in the kitchen sink was not functional. Overall, the stay was good and restful.
Stayed here for one night earlier in the week. Everything was top notch! It's pretty well gotten to the point where SS are my favorite properties. The room was large, comfortable, well appointed and had a fully equipped kitchen (that I didn't use). SS has raised the bar on the buffet breakfast. And their evening spread Is pretty neat too. The only downside was the almost non-existent free wi-fi. It barely worked in the lobby area but was useless on the 4th floor. Will definitely repeat. Recommended.
My family and I stayed here while visiting family. The room at first view was nice. We were in a 2 bed suite, which they upgrades us too and we were thankful for. The staff was very nice. They do not clean on the weekends, so a little inconvenient to go down and get towels etc but typical for this type of hotel. The bed was very comfortable but I would recommend bringing your own pillows. They were so soft you may as well just lay your head on the bed. Even with 2 of them. My only real complaint is they needed a new coat of paint or at the very least a good wipe-down of the walls. There were some questionable things on many spots on the walls. I have had to live in a hotel for about a month while building a house, so I realize that kids can treat it like a real home, especially with so much space, but if that is the case it should have had a good scrub down after the people left. The bathroom could use some care as well. The AC worked but it seemed to be on all night long, which was annoying at times. We kept it at 68 and was not cold but comfortable. Any higher would not have worked for us. I grew up in Amarillo and have stayed a lot of places there and this is pretty average to other hotels in the area. We stayed on points. I probably would have asked to switch to a cleaner "feeing" room if I was paying money for it. Overall, I do recommend and I would stay here again.
I stayed here on business twice. The facility is new, it is clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was quite large and all foods tasty. The only issue that I had was that on my last stay here, the hotel's computer was «down» so they were unable to locate my reservation which I was totally confused by because I had been there the previous week and they have confirmed my reservation at that time. I was amazed that they did not have any form of back-up for this type of situation.
We traveled to Amarillo for a wedding. Very nice, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good, the eggs were ok. Especially liked the Texas shaped waffles. Light and fluffy. Staff was helpful and kind. The brief dip in the pool was nice, I wish we had longer to enjoy it. Loved the kitchen! Very clean. The only thing negative was the bathroom was in need of new caulking. Other than that, very nice.
Staybridge suites is a reliable brand and this property was no different. Comfortable beds, clean rooms and bathrooms and a decent breakfast spread - fruits, milk, cereals, waffles- extremely good value for the money paid. In addition this is at a great location with eating places in the same plaza.
First thing is I really appreciate the front desk. Very polite, friendly and very willing to help. I give them full marks. The rooms are nice. A mini studio apartment. Clean and comfortable. My only complaint, about 9pm we got a call from the front desk. The people below had complained about the noise. I was a bit annoyed by this because we really were not being overly noisy. Walking around, getting our girls ready for bed. So we had to tip toe around to finish getting ready for bed. About 5:30 in the morning the people above us woke up. It sounded like a gym above us. I imagine they were going through the normal routine of packing and getting ready to leave but it was very loud and woke me and the others up. Every footstep was heard. I could tell exactly where they were in the room above. The place seems to be very lacking in insulation. Over all I am pleased with the place. I would stay here again should we pass through. I'd just make sure we got the 4th floor.
Location is five stars and after that this place goes downhill ! The rooms are musty and are not clean as well as they should be. I had ants in my room. The carpets are worn. The furniture is dated. The suite I was in was close to the noisy elevator. There is only 1 slow elevator ! The pool is mildew central and disgusting! Breakfast is horrible!! Powdery flavorless eggs! Watery oatmeal ! Apples and bananas that are spoiled! Coffee that tastes watered down. On the plus side: Monday thru Wednesday they have a social meal and serve beer and wine 5:30 to 7:30! The salad bar is ok and the meals are a good variety. The staff is courteous. The location is in walking distance to restaurants and a gym! Free laundry is available on site! The beds are comfortable. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. I would find a different hotel in Amarillo on the east side off I 40. There are nice newer hotels. The owner of this hotel owns other properties in Amarillo but seems to have let this place go in favor of some of the other hotels.
