Those who travel for fun and those who travel for work often need flights from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City. Salt Lake City is home to a large Mormon population, many historic sites, and the famous Salt Lake. Use Orbitz.com to find cheap flights that leave Los Angeles when you're ready for a vacation.
Some people call Los Angeles the Film Capital of the World because of its close proximity to Hollywood. When you're ready to take a break from this big city, fly out from the Los Angeles Worlds Airport. Nonstop flights from Los Angeles are available on United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and American Airlines.
You can reach the airport in your own car and park in one of the economy lots for $12 per day. Make sure that you avoid the short-term lots, which charge $30 for 24 hours of parking. If you feel more comfortable leaving your car at home, you can take a taxi or use public transportation. Taxis charge a surcharge of $4 for any fares to the airport on top of the regular rate, while buses charge a few dollars. The airport terminals house several restaurants for those who want to grab a bite. These restaurants include Burger King, Starbucks, McDonald's, and the Backlot Deli.
Salt Lake City is home to the largest population of Mormons in the world, and many of the popular tourist spots and attractions relate to this religious group. Visiting the city lets you learn more about this religious organization and discover more about the history of those who fled to the west.
Salt Lake City experiences harsh winters and extremely hot summers. The winter temperatures often drop below 30 degrees Fahrenheit, while summer temperatures can rise to nearly 90 degrees. Springtime is a better time to visit the city because the weather is generally mild and not as humid as it is in the summer.
After your flight, you can take a bus, limo, shuttle, taxi, or rental car to your hotel. Several shuttle buses make stops around the city, while some hotels provide free shuttles for guests. Utah Transit Authority city buses provide the cheapest rides from the airport, but you might prefer the privacy of a rental car or taxi.
A visit to Salt Lake City isn't complete without a trip to the Family History Library, which houses the largest collection of family histories in the world. The Mormon Tabernacle is open to the public on select days, and you can even watch the Mormon Tabernacle Choir perform live. The city is also home to attractions like the Natural History Museum of Utah, Red Butte Garden, Temple Square, and the Capitol Theatre. If you need a break from history, check out the Olympic Oval, Clark Planetarium, or Hoggle Zoo.
