Because of its location on the Mississippi River, Memphis is laid out from West (downtown) to East (the suburbs), making it fairly easy to navigate. Memphis is extremely hot and humid during the summer. The winters are primarily mild. In May each year, the Beale Street Music Festival occurs, bringing over 40 big name performers to the city.
