New Orleans is a cross-cultural city that is well known for its food, music, and celebrations. When you fly there, you will be welcomed at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. It’s located less than eleven miles from downtown and takes about twenty minutes to travel. When going around the city, make sure that you go to the French Quarter district, which is the most visited place in the city. Head to Bourbon Street if you want to grab a drink, or go to Jackson Square to visit St. Louis Cathedral, the oldest Roman Catholic Church in the United States. If you want the best party experience, you should travel in February to attend the famous Mardi Gras, which is touted as the biggest free party on earth. Just make sure you book at least six months in advance, because it’s the busiest season of the year. There is also the Jazz Festival and Heritage Festival in late April and early May, when food and music unite for an unforgettable celebration. Temperatures during this time, from February to May, vary from mid-40s up to more than 80°F, so make sure you wear light clothing.
