Get away from the capital of Mexico's Jalisco province and tour monumental landmarks in the United States by taking a flight from Guadalajara International Airport (GDL) to New York. From the crown at the Statue of Liberty to the 86th floor at the historic Empire State Building, there are several great vantage points for enjoying aerial views of New York's five boroughs. The Mexican Federal Highway 23 offers direct access to GDL by car. After takeoff, expect to arrive in New York in just over five hours.
For cultural sightseeing, Manhattan is a popular destination to begin a tour in the heart of New York. Midtown is home to contemporary exhibits at the Museum of Modern Art, and the Upper East Side has more traditional artwork in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Frick Collection. Whether you take a ferry or the NYC subway, there are plenty of fun ways to reach other boroughs such as Brooklyn. Popular activities in Brooklyn include watching NBA games at the Barclays Center and greeting friendly farm animals at the Prospect Park Zoo.
Interstate 678 and Interstate 278 are some convenient routes to take between John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Manhattan. If you decide to fly from Guadalajara to New York in the winter, bring coats and boots to handle snow days. Summer temperatures in New York usually peak in the high 80s on the Fahrenheit scale. The Celebrate Israel Parade and St. Patrick's Day Parade are among many ethnic festivals that fill New York's calendar throughout the year.
