I was recommended to stay in this hotel by a friend who is a Jakarta native. She said the location of the hotel combined with it's unique Indonesian inspired design would make for an enjoyable and stay. How right she was. The Keraton delights all the senses. I truly can't wait to return. The hotel's location is in the Central Business District. I was on holiday so the hotel's connection the Indonesia Plaza was of great benefit. Literally a discrete door leads from the hotel into the mall itself. The hotel is very serene and tranquil, yet the hustle and bustle of mall is just feet away. Or put another way, you won't have to deal with a taxi or get caught out in a torrential passing rain shower. After check-in I was ushered by a host to my room on the 11th floor. For this level of hotel, the spacious room didn't disappoint. The appointments in the walk through bathroom include a free standing tub and a rainforest head equipped walk in shower. His and her sinks leave an enormous amount of room for beauty aids and make up. The view once the remote control blinds are activated is very urbane. Jakarta's business district and the twinkling of lights in the evening creates a very chic background to stare out into space to. THe room features a glorious king bed. One corner of the room has an office fully equipped with and Ipod ready Bose speaker set to play with. In the other corner is a sofa to sprawl out on with an adjoining chair and coffee table. Standard mini-bar stocked with plenty of free water is a nice touch. THe room is a minimalist but decadent. THe only caution I would suggest is this is a room best suited for couples or single travelers. The space is quite open and thus there is a certain lack of privacy which travelers with kids may find awkward. Room service for breakfast was fantastic. Ditto for the gym and Yusef who was the very personable trainer on duty when I worked out. The pool is indoor only and it's quite a marvel though it's a bit lacking in ambience as well, it's indoors..... Front desk service is excellent as one would expect from this level of hotel. The concierge was very helpful guiding me through the shopping available in the mall and nearby shops as well. As a fun touch there is a lovely living room inspired snack bar with a bar situated off the lobby. The room is always open and the sugary and savory snacks are gratis not to mention all too tasty. For a serene and comforting stay in JKT, this hotel is worth a stay if you're in the market for a Luxury Collection type of stay. The hardest part of my stay was leaving the room because it was such a pleasant living space. Well done, Keraton.
